They now require a bewildering array of gadgetry "to be clean enough" and it's unrealistic to think a modern gas engine can be "that clean" while maintaining it's same longevity and cost. I had a 2023 Maverick Hybrid. It sat on a battery charger for a year due to a death in the family. 31.1 total miles on the odometer. Six recalls by the time I sold it back to Apple Ford at a $3,500 loss with 31.1 miles. I feel like it was the best financial decision I ever made. It would have been a financial albatross around my neck to keep and use that green vehicle.
Ford loyalists will keep buying them and it shows you how ignorant people really can be. Ford would be the last brand I would look into and I am a former loyal Ford buyer. I was loyal up to 2003 then I went to Toyota and never looked back. I went with GMC in 2004 and got a Silverado LT and that truck lasted me over 20 years and put 220k miles on it by the time I sold it. That was also the last year GM had a good truck everything after 2006 GM related is just as bad. Over priced and less reliable. For Ford to get quality up they need to STOP relying on plastic and go back to metal and choose parts makers that make quality parts instead of the lowest bidder making garbage.
Well, I’d argue that the Nissan Jatco CVT is worse but the Powershift is up there. There is a solution though. The best one is a Focus or Fiesta ST with the 6-speed manual but both offered manuals on every regular Fiestas and Foci.
16 focus owner , it is now a lawn ornament. Thanks Ford u suck. Never buying Ford again. Henry Ford is rolling over in his grave. Powershift transmission what a joke.
Had a mustang with a 10R80, which crashed the bed at 4000 miles. Fixed under warranty with same parts - drove from the Ford dealer to another brand dealer and done. There are numerous class action lawsuits suits suits and Ford is in denial. The worst customer support ever.
Ford deserves to pay every cent of that fine and a whole lot more. They have shown who they truly value and it's not the American consumer; it's their corporate cronies. I became a Toyota customer last year and owning my Camry has exposed what total trash Ford was putting out that I bought for years. Ford, and for that matter, GM and Stellantis can all go F.O. because my entire family is DONE with American cars.
Ford needs to slow the pace of production down. Pay attention to detail. Use the same technique that Japan uses. If you see a problem stop the assembly and discuss with engineers to correct it. Cut out built in obsolescence.
Strange times for Ford. I ordered a new 2024 Ford F450 in June of 2023. I put a deposit down, and have waited...and waited. Ford has not even started the build as of November 2024!
Ford's stock has been in the dumpster long before these massive recalls started. Manufacturers are testing vehicles to warranty and not to failure. If you look back on Ford's history. I had a 1998 Honda Civic with Firestone FR440 all season tires as stock. They were never stable above 60, and that was before the Firestone tire recall. Fast forward. That massive dual clutch recall by Ford. One of the most annoying ones is when a manufacturer tells you that a brand new using so much oil is normal. Otherwise, Ford has bet the bank on one product, the stock is still weak, recalls are stupid high, and I honestly believe Ford, along with Nissan, will declare bankruptcy eventually.
The quality control in all Ford products needs improvement. I just drove a new suv the hood shaking was scary thought it was going to fly off. I own an older ford that rusted out from just washing it because the sunroof drain lines never were drained to the outside and emptied in the body with no drainage. Their service department is just as bad if not worse .
Any corporation should understand the cost of initial QA vs cost of rework. For the last decade vehicle off have focused on just enough durability to get through the warranty. Now its such a razor edge that major failures are common during warranty. Stupidity seeking profit in this manner.
It’s an engineering problem, and a cost problem. Ford doesn’t spend the money up front. I went through the whole Powershift transmission fiasco. Had the entire clutch replaced by Ford and the transmission still slips from time to time.
Their quality got great after the Pinto, and honestly the Pinto was not as bad as it was made out to be but since the mid to later 2010s, it has crashed like a Boeing 737 Max.
Im glad something is being done...however, Ford isnt the only automaker cutting corners (Subaru, Honda, etc) . Next, the authorities need to do something about lenders and car dealerships that put people in upside down loans....

Yep quality is job none.
They get hit with fines, you pay am extra 5k 😂
Corporations, companies, never pay anything in reality. They just pass on their bad judgment calls to You
I had a 2023 Maverick Hybrid.
Ford needs to be recalled
Ford Thunderbird 59. The car everyone would love to own.
I'm not anti American except for when it comes to automobiles. I'm a citizen of Japan as far as cars are concerned.
2012-18 PowerShift Focus - worst car ever made
Well, I’d argue that the Nissan Jatco CVT is worse but the Powershift is up there. There is a solution though. The best one is a Focus or Fiesta ST with the 6-speed manual but both offered manuals on every regular Fiestas and Foci.
Great car except for the transmission, mine went out at 150k
16 focus owner , it is now a lawn ornament. Thanks Ford u suck. Never buying Ford again. Henry Ford is rolling over in his grave. Powershift transmission what a joke.
I always find Ford recalls are the strangest in the industry. They have a recall because doors might open while driving. Come on!
Past and present UAW has been a huge cost to these can companies as well
Had a mustang with a 10R80, which crashed the bed at 4000 miles. Fixed under warranty with same parts - drove from the Ford dealer to another brand dealer and done. There are numerous class action lawsuits suits suits and Ford is in denial. The worst customer support ever.
All the senior engineers, be it mechanical or electrical are retiring and it’s showing.
So happy to own a 1977 LTD. A beautiful car without all the BS.
Been fighting 24s05 with florida lemon law. Worst customer service ever experienced
Could not be happening to a better company they truly deserve it.
3:12 I still have that sticker on the window of my 2007 GT, I don’t think they put those on anymore!
I still have my 2017 Mustang GT and I did want to purchase the new Mustang but the cost and quality issues will make me stay put.
They lost millions on EV's Ford has no money
Billions.
fines of 165 million dollars? where does that money go?
2012 was the LAST YEAR we bought a NEW Ford, they want too much $$$ for recalled vehicles
Hang on to those old school V8s and buy up the outgoing ones while you can- they are GOLD!
“Saving money” in manufacturing does not work
That's Because Too Big Eliminate Some Brands
Strange times for Ford. I ordered a new 2024 Ford F450 in June of 2023. I put a deposit down, and have waited...and waited. Ford has not even started the build as of November 2024!
Ford, recalls are job 1...four years in a row.
Recent labor deals are crushing them!
No they aren’t. You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.
All parts are made in Mexico and assembled in the USA
Quality is Job One with the Detroit Lions too...
Won't they just pass the fine off to the customers . Companies don't always eat everything
Being on the cutting edge is tough. They could just be like Toyota and let everyone else do all the legwork and then just copy them.
Ford quality has gone downhill drastically since the Pinto !
Pinto was a GREAT car. I loved both of mine.
damn the pinto 😅
Their quality got great after the Pinto, and honestly the Pinto was not as bad as it was made out to be but since the mid to later 2010s, it has crashed like a Boeing 737 Max.
It would appear that quality is no longer job one.
It’s a race to the bottom, even Toyota is having some major problems.
Businesses cannot be counted on to do the right thing. They must be forced. In other words, regulations are essential.
Im glad something is being done...however, Ford isnt the only automaker cutting corners (Subaru, Honda, etc) .
Next, the authorities need to do something about lenders and car dealerships that put people in upside down loans....
