Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
*I caught this guy on my 3rd cast. Paired with these 4" trailers. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend slightly modified, I think i trimmed about 3/4 of an inch off of it. Its deadly!*
Interesting how the gear we use now is so much lighter, a lot of change in just 8 years. However, this is still a great video, still relevant and so much enthusiasm. Love it!
I've seen this somewhere a few years ago. Really helped with my fishing as I used this method (braid and clear leader) for trout fishing, worked great with a very soft rod. I don't really have too many questions, except- why not to use lighter gear? 5000 size reel and 30 lbs braid seems a bit too much, a 20lbs braid (e.g. powerpro or berkley whiplash orange) and a size 3000-4000 reel (e.g. okuma cedros high speed cj30s or cj40s) would be more than enough and they would be much lighter, making fishing a bit easier and more pleasant. thx
@@robcordon4661 It's all about personal preference and what the individual finds works best for them. Do you think using something resembling a car winch on a broom handle makes an angler more manly?
Good video. I noticed the trace is attached to the braid with a swivel. I’ve always had trouble getting a reliable knot and was told a swivel would be a distraction to a fish. Best knot I’ve used is the Alberto, but not been 100% reliable
It's ok, the yanks do it a lot, can pick up weed before it gets on your lure. It's OK. Bit lazy I prefer a more streamlined set up with a leader as long as the rod, bit more subtle, practice the knots, they not that bad once you know them well and have your tech down. Like all fish, bass get finicky, if this was a flat calm bright day I wouldn't fancy his chances with a short leader and swivel.

What’s your view on baitcasters for bass fishing ? I’m struggling to find many rods for these should I just forget about them and go with a spinning setup?
1. Don't yank the rod back when snagged, give it some slack and pull horizontally 2. Trust me, i've snagged a lure and yanked and it snapped my rod in half, plus giving it slack line lets the current take it and the lure isnt forced against the rock/seaweed
Anyone considering buying "saltwater" wading boots theres no such thing . After getting pissed off with Patagonia and Simms falling apart on me I bought 3 pairs of oversized hiriking boots from the wish app. As for the price ... €1 per pair and €1 postage , I kid you not ... I'm still on my first pair after 4 months of constant wading in saltwater ...
So this is only several years old, and so called bass expert is advocating using a 10 ft rod and what looks like a heavy 5000 baitrunner reel?! Fast forward to now, and its all about 8 ft rods and 2500 reels and obsession with light weight because seemingly we have all become wimps?!
For me its about using the rods and reels etc that the location and target species require, in this case I'd agree with his choice of tackle, an over strained reel or broken light rod is no fun if you've had to drive many miles to reach the coast for a few hours on the rocks, I've never been a slave to fashion, its always worked so far! lol

Enthusiasm bordering on the manic - love it. This bloke is in his element and that is always good to see. Nice advice as well. thanks

Henry really is massively enthusiastic about his fishing.
Love him or hate him,he is an excellent angler and knows his stuff
Only when he's smoking some crack
Love the enthusiasm! Makes me wanna go fishing! Which i am! Tomorrow!
The lure rods and reel have moved on so much since this video was uploaded but still enjoy watching it 🎣😁
How times have changed, and yet they were still catching bass.

Hi Henry
What lb rubbing leader do you use and what clip do you use for connecting to the lure ?
At 2.28 and 2.39 he almost hooked his dog! :-) :-) :-)
Now, not many anglers would use a 5000 size reel, 30lb braid or a 15 to 45grm rod, it's all down sized.
sweet great tips tight lines bud
Cracking video

I am losing too many hooks and lures hooked in the rocks, any suggestion for losing hooks and lures hooked in the rocks?

Yeah no one uses heavy gear like this now. It’s more down to the fact that it’s more fun on light gear and a small fish feels like a monster!
Rob Cordon Gilbey still uses 5000 size reels and 9ft rods you plum
@@rabbitskinner He uses 9' 6" rods and 2500-3500 class reels.

Man.......calm it down. It’s fishing not snowboarding
Always great to see bass fishing,
but this guy should ease up on the coke.
Talks tok fast. Irritates me.
Is Gilbert still hawking those ridiculously over priced white spinning rods he must have had an interest in?
Talk about oversell!!!!!!..
