The Phantom 4 is one of the best all around camera drones there is, even with it being older than all of the other models it held its own pretty dang well!
I’ve personally flown 2400 feet on 0% battery with the Mini 2. I was over the Missouri River at the time. I can tell you this, I was puckered that entire 2400 feet.
I just thought of another quick comment but I wanted to say you're editing was absolutely perfect in this video, not ever once did we get bored, well bored isn't the word I wanted to use, but you kept the action coming fast and quick while watching it, it was perfect! 👌
Great video, I’m surprised the P4 kept running upside down I thought they were designed to cut of if they are flipped past 90(or so?) degrees? Keep up the good work Ken
A 20 min video. I'm all excited now. You don't make enough videos these last few months. I love videos like this. Also videos that are mini history lessons on different places are great. Those never get old.
KAREN alert! I flew my first multi-rotor, a DJI clone, last week and it was a lot of fun. I've seen many videos recently of people doing range tests or long-range activities, i.e. following cruise ships, with multi-rotor aircraft. In a past life, I had a lot of fun with both powered and unpowered R/C sailplanes, and to see this abuse of energy hurts my head. One could expect 10 times the range with the same energy density using a fixed-wing with a decent wingspan/area. I enjoy your videos, keep them coming.
I'm a bit crippled in the area of long-range flights and testing primarily due to the area I live in and the lack of transportation, so I'm extremely pleased that somebody else can take up the slack here. 😁
I’ve been flying Phantoms since I swapped my Flamewheel F550 for a P1. They have come a L o o o o n g Way in that time. I now fly a P4 a. And I totally concur with you. The Phantom is (iMHO) still the best in the sky.😊
Hi Ken, may I ask how did you get 2.2miles for the DJI FPV? According to your on-screen telemetry, you went ~9850ft one way, then 9580ft opposite way, passed zero, and then did another ~9850ft. So in total 29550 ft or 5.6miles (not 2.2miles). BTW good test anyway, thanks for your content :)
My Autel EVO 1 will give a low battery warning which is variable based on battery level and distance from home point. In the event battery level goes critically low (once it was a headwind/pilot error in not accommodating for the headwind and once it was a battery starting to fail), it will go into automatic landing ... with maneuverability only during the "glide path" period. Both times I had this happen, I was over water ... so, there was a measure of urgency in maneuvering to a retrievable LZ. Unlike Scully, I was did my best to get back onto dry land (and succeeded). Stay safe.
Yeah...good to know. Tip: Don't ignore the battery levels while flying over a 400 foot deep chasm. The drone will attempt to land, yes, but it will attempt to land thinking its "altitude" is however high off the ground it is from "home". Probably the most sickening 4 and a half seconds of silence I've ever heard followed by a gut wrenching, percussive impact. And yes, I did go down and retrieve the mangled, broken carcass of the 2S. Replacement arrives tomorrow. Yeah, let's not do that again.
I found out that the mini 2 will fly down to 0%, and if you don't switch it off, it actually switches itself off so it doesn't damage the batterie. That was on Dustin's channel. Awesome. Good Job to you both 💯
I am doing 10km + on my mini 2 and still 10-15% left after that(normal mode), and that is on the battery with 70 cycles. Wind probably matters a lot for this tiny drone.
That was funny as heck and interesting I might add. Now I’m so curious and purely for research purposes ;) how far does the Inspire go?? You know we’re all wondering Ken! What could go wrong?! 🤣
Ken, you may want to check the phantom motor mounts for stress cracks. Get a bright small flashlight and shine it through the underside of the mount while in a dark room. If you have cracks they should be visible.
Curious what the battery capacity and if they would recharge fully after that test. My guess is the batteries took a hit to lifespan but would love to confirm.
DJI drones really give the hobby a bad name, not the pilots. If DJI stuff had a kill switch you could avoid lacerating people. But because DJI puts safety of its hardware above safety of pedestrians, we will see many videos of drones crashing with props still running trying to return to home.
I recall my mates DJI Mavic, kept trying to land when we were pushing it back home so we didn't have to go walking for it... Well, the back rotors stopped we saw it flip on the camera, to land in a dam right in the middle of a field. Yep, sent it to DJI to see if could be repaired to have it turned to say congrats, you know own a $2k paperweight.
Hey Ken, Fun video but I have to wonder what's wrong with the P4P? As you well know DJI Drones all fail safe that stops the rotors once the airframe tilts to or past 90°. Your Phantom was 180° over hard, Hard on the ground and the rotors didn't stop turning, The motor's should have shut off with the fail safe. What's WRONG with your Phantom? I'm surprised you didn't mention this in the video. Think think the calls for a test tilt motor stop on your Phantom. New video coming soon?
If I had to guess critically low battery might disable some of the failsafes to conserve processing power. Also it did take a pretty hefty hit so that might have jostled the Gyro enough that it didn't register the time when it was between 90 and 180 degrees.
As a freestyle pilot as a standard I get about 1:30-2mins out of a good 1S 3.8v , I’ve not played with DJI so far so to me these flight times are fascinating...
I find that my Air 2S is much more stable and also locks in much better to a home point than my P4P V2. The Phantom almost returned home into some power lines yesterday when I was using drone deploy to map a field. The Air 2S will land back on a dime.
Have you seen Dustin Dunhill’s videos, he does this sort of thing with all of the. Nowwww, i not condoning out of line of sight flying, but it is fun to see what he does
Ken, I will be in the market soon for a mini 2,have watched umpteen vids of distance related vids and many with extreme battery usage ,down to 1-5%. Then i watch vids on how to look after batteries, dont charge to 100% dont drain to less than 30%,but you see in vids batteries at 99% at take off and batteries at 0% on landing. I just have a little confusion going on. What is safe and what is not, in normal circumstances.
I watched the whole video, now I wanna fly while driving but I live in an area with roads that only have traffic, overhead lines and bullshiz when you go far

agreed completely
I’ve personally flown 2400 feet on 0% battery with the Mini 2. I was over the Missouri River at the time. I can tell you this, I was puckered that entire 2400 feet.
Ken, I'm only 3 min into this but this is one of your best ideas ever, this is so much fun. I'm so glad you did this. Okay now I got to keep watching.
Legend says his still 3 mins into the video
I just thought of another quick comment but I wanted to say you're editing was absolutely perfect in this video, not ever once did we get bored, well bored isn't the word I wanted to use, but you kept the action coming fast and quick while watching it, it was perfect! 👌
Thanks Justin. 🤓

Crazy moves with the Evo 2. On the edge of my seat with wires poking me!
Love the "preview clip" at the beginning. Man, that Phantom was eating dirt, literally. The dust created was very CINEMATIC there Ken!
Oh my goodness that ending was absolutely incredible, he was a perfect actor and he added to the fun what a great video thanks so much!!😋
Thanks Justin!
The P4 is a freaking "drone tank" !!! Nice video Ken
Tickle ending was EVERYTHING
Really Great Video Ken and Adam!!Awesome Idea!! Adam is going to need to get the undercarriage of his car checked.
A 20 min video. I'm all excited now. You don't make enough videos these last few months. I love videos like this. Also videos that are mini history lessons on different places are great. Those never get old.
Thanks Ken and Adam, with the way this week is going I really needed a laugh.

The drones were never more than 50ft from the pilot. Karens gonna make themselves look even more stupid if they complain about this 🤣🤣
@@El_Smeghead 😂🤣😅😆😅🤣😂😁
Another interesting video- I’m learning soo much about how to make mine a lil better! Thanks for all the ideas!!!
Wish the world had more people like you Ken. The end is super funny man 😁
Thanks Bud.
Awesome video Ken!!! 👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks for sharing man 👌🏼 you rock 🪨
Great video ken! Very unique! But at 9:30 why did you stop at 9999m lol. I would hit the 10km😂
yea lol my ocd kicked in

Agreed Tim. Love my Phantom!
Awesome video. I would have loved to see an air2 in this ‼️
The FAA has just changed the acronym L.O.S. from line of sight to LANDING OUTTA SERVICE. Thanks for the RIDE. Cheers!!
your FPV quad missing the lineup .. that would be interesting how far it can go at 90 degree camera angle :)
Awesome video Ken! I enjoyed every second of it.
Thank you!❤😀

Cause he hates it
True... should be 5.6 miles.
He also states that the phantom pro is faster when it hits 30 mph. He definitely doesn't like DJI fpv lol.
@@precisionsightdrones well the fpv in sport mode is actually pretty much the fastest drone on the market now
He even called it dji fov instead of dji fpv
Ken, I enjoyed your battery test. My P4V2 is still my favorite drone. Looking forward to meeting I you again at Minefield.
You too!
"IT'S EATING ITSELF ALIVE!!"
Not often you hear THAT on a drone video! 🤣
what a great test bed , man wish I had something like that here nice
and this is the reason we love you ken
🤓
I could hear myself in my head yelling "DISARM! DISARM!!!" when the phantom crashed... oof
My Autel EVO 1 will give a low battery warning which is variable based on battery level and distance from home point. Great testing Ken, with some interesting results. I'm glad you missed those wires. And believe your right about the Phantom 4, best drone over.
Yeah...good to know. Tip: Don't ignore the battery levels while flying over a 400 foot deep chasm. This was interesting - but I'd much rather you did it than me... Thanks Ken..
You know you could have gotten a lot more distance without the drone video running. GREAT video, btw.
You was a beast for shooting that wire gap 💪🏾✌🏾🚀
I found out that the mini 2 will fly down to 0%, and if you don't switch it off, it actually switches itself off so it doesn't damage the batterie. That was on Dustin's channel. Awesome. Good Job to you both 💯

Your heart, my heart and those wires.
Here I sit at the carwash, in the lobby charging some Mini 2 batteries...I fly from here a lot. It's a nice spot for flying..
And that's why I still love my phantom. Great video Ken.
That was funny as heck and interesting I might add. Now I’m so curious and purely for research purposes ;) how far does the Inspire go?? You know we’re all wondering Ken! What could go wrong?! 🤣
Hmmm...
What is it about the Evo II flight characteristics don't you like. I just found out about it last night and am thinking it over the DJI A2S.
Nice video ken! Am about to get DJI mini 2! Thanks!
You bet.
Nice test with those drones !
cool test, must have been fun to put together! and it was fun trailing a drone in flight...always thought of this but never tried it. Thanks
It’s eating itself alive 😂 best line ever!
🤓
Excellent video! Gonna do the same with my fleet. Borrowed a P4P2+. Ummmmm...that will be a sidebar.
You guys seriously have too much fun.. might be time to relocate and come hang out 🤣🤣
🤓👍👍
That ending tho 😂😂
Damn I didn't know the phantom is that tough! Great video! Took the whole upside-down on gravel thing like a champ 🏆 lol
9:34 uh oh? No , no, NO! STOP KEN! What the… …maniac.
Always fly on sight and measure the range 🤔 no problem for you, just another challenge. you are a genius. 👍😀
What is that road? a never completed highway? Lol, love the ending, even gave the wife a good giggle lol :)
Nice work guys !
Imagine having a house next to that road, seeing a chevy chasing drones all day long :)
🤓

That was FUN!
GOOD going at the wires omg lol
The ending was so funny 😂
I need more drone friends! This looks crazy fun! Great vid guys!! I love experiments like this.
Truly great video. Big thumbs up 👍
You’re not right in da head, love it, keep up the good work
🤓👍
As alway the Phantom is the star of the bunch 🤙
Curious what the battery capacity and if they would recharge fully after that test. My guess is the batteries took a hit to lifespan but would love to confirm.
Great video ken!!!
Mini 2 with an Lion battery would have also been interesting...
Cool flight, funny man lol. Love it 😎🦅👍
Awesome video. Wish you would of shown battery voltage per cell each drone finished at
Thanks for the video!
You're welcome
DJI drones really give the hobby a bad name, not the pilots. If DJI stuff had a kill switch you could avoid lacerating people. But because DJI puts safety of its hardware above safety of pedestrians, we will see many videos of drones crashing with props still running trying to return to home.
Now you need to find a road you can drive fast on, and fly the Phantom flat stick.
I wonder how far you would go?
Keep em coming. 👍👍👍
I was driving and listening and only half watching. Did one of the other drones beat the Autel Evo 2 Pro in terms of distance?
I recall my mates DJI Mavic, kept trying to land when we were pushing it back home so we didn't have to go walking for it... Why did the mini 2 say battery level low at 70%?
I like the videos you put out Ken your friend Thomas from Winter Haven
This is a great video just wish to of seen the mavic air 2 and possibly the mavic 2 enterprise

Lithium batteries of all types need to be looked after as if they were ticking time bombs. It's never good for the chemistry to take them to extremes.
enjoy this video with the laughing sounds, thanks
Great film, Ken if you don’t mind me asking is that a pixel on the RC and if so how’s it coping?
Yeah, Pixel 5.
Works great!
"DJI POS" LOL!
😁
Ken I flew a mavic pro at zero % battery for a LONG time
It tracks each battery flight so you could have flown for the battery duration and it tells you in miles how far it went on that battery
I watched the whole video, now I wanna fly while driving but I live in an area with roads that only have traffic, overhead lines and bullshiz when you go far
Great video, very entertaining!
This makes me think of Mitch Hedberg, why plant plants out of reach...
