It's been almost a year since this came put and this lovely animator got me whipped into the Hololive community and I just want to say this. A lot of confused people in the comments so I'll try to explain. Basically the PCs are based on the Vtubers from the youtube group Hololive. The Poltato one is named Polka and her fans like to make fun of her because she has a weak PC. On the internet bad cameras and PCs are sometime called "potato quality" because they're basically just as technologically advanced as a potato. So Polka has a "potato PC" which her fans then call a "Poltato PC" but she doesn't want a Potato PC she wants a "hamburger PC" or "beef PC"
I love that hololive keeps getting bigger and there has been a guy trying to explain what it is to new comers since 2019, I specially love people getting angry at hololive for reaching r/all

"Potato PC" is the opposite of a "Beefy PC". "Meat and Potatoes" is a saying. So is "The Birds and the Bees". Therefore, birds are the opposite of bees.
the likely reason is that in japan they dont call them french fries, the usually just say "potato" or "fried potato". So youd go to McDonalds and order an "L saizu potato"" for a large fry. So her thought process was likely to say no, she was more akin to a hamburger, or beef. It would explain the bigmac comment also.
The two terms evolved independently. "Beefy" is self-explanatory and doesn't apply just to PCs. "Potato" is newer, but adopted naturally as shorthand for "cheap-ass" or "thoroughly unsophisticated", as can be suggested of potatoes. I think it only applies to things like electronics where upgrading your model every few years is just common sense.

A lot of confused people in the comments so I'll try to explain. Basically the PCs are based on the Vtubers from the youtube group Hololive. The Poltato one is named Polka and her fans like to make fun of her because she has a weak PC. On the internet bad cameras and PCs are sometime called "potato quality" because they're basically just as technologically advanced as a potato. So Polka has a "potato PC" which her fans then call a "Poltato PC" but she doesn't want a Potato PC she wants a "hamburger PC" or "beef PC"
It might be useful to note that she has since gotten her 'Beef PC'.

the likely reason is that in japan they dont call them french fries, the usually just say "potato" or "fried potato". So youd go to McDonalds and order an "L saizu potato"" for a large fry. So her thought process was likely to say no, she was more akin to a hamburger, or beef. It would explain the bigmac comment also.

The two terms evolved independently. "Beefy" is self-explanatory and doesn't apply just to PCs. "Potato" is newer, but adopted naturally as shorthand for "cheap-ass" or "thoroughly unsophisticated", as can be suggested of potatoes. I think it only applies to things like electronics where upgrading your model every few years is just common sense.
