I get teary watching a lot of reactions to John recently. Many of us have taken his amazing voice for granted as he has been a part of our lives for so many years. Seeing his gift through others, like yourself, is a real joy. Thank you❣️
That's so true - I grew up listening to John Farnham always knew he was good but didn't appreciate his voice until I was older - he's always had quality backup singers and musicians - so glad others can appreciate him too - get well John we miss you 💕
So true. Always have been a Farnham fan, but now appreciate that we have had him in our lives for decades while much of the rest of the world have never heard of him and some are now discovering what we have always known; an amazing person with a joyous voice.
Lisa Edwards sang with John for years and between her, Lindsay Field and Vanetta Fields I don’t think any singer could ask for better backing vocalists. I’ve loved John all my life (my own children who are adults with kids of their own, know every word to just about every song he has ever recorded) and even before the Whispering Jack album that shot him to stardom after the quiet years he had as an artist. His voice is phenomenal and I think all Aussies are grateful to be able to hear his recordings for many, many earns to come.
Like everyone else in John's Band, Lisa Edwards had her own career outside of his band. John brought her on and she has always performed nearly every concert with him. Only a couple when she was heavily pregnant or had just given birth. One time she was in the crowd and he predictably pointed her out carrying her newborn with her and commented on the babys tiny hat. She does have the ability to hit all the same notes and has massive power behind her voice just like his. That is why they have always matched and synced so perfectly together. Like all the band she loves him to death and is fiercely loyal to him. All of them have a very deep friendship and respect. All of them are a show of some of the best musicians in Australia. All he has to do is mention his thoughts of another possible tour and every single one of them will jump straight out of retirement and demand to know when he wants to do it. There have been several little news interviews on the back up singers where they mentioned they enjoyed their retirement, but if John ever even remotely whispered of an event or concert or gig, they would gladly and willingly jump on it. He is the only person they would ever consider doing that for.
John has always said that Lisa is his rock on stage. She knows when he breathes and is a great singer in her own right. John has always had the best musicians in The John Farnham Band.
John's voice is always amazing, but seriously, look how far away he is holding the mic compared to Lisa and he is still crystal clear. The power he shows in his live performances is mind blowing.
Lisa Edwards has been one of his backup singers forever She is in all his performances with the Melbourne symphony orchestra that you have reacted to most evidently in it’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock and role where you commented ‘what a look’ when they did a close up of her She adores him like everyone else who sings and plays with him Cheers
Lisa Edwards, Venetta Fields and Lindsay Field were John’s main backup singers. I love how far he has to drop his microphone, he doesn’t need one. In 24 hours John’s life will be released at the Movies in Australia. I have seen it and I knew most of it but it is different from their side and it amazing. Take tissues. Thank you.
Lisa Edwards is one of John's backing singers and a recorded artist in her own right. I saw the new documentary film about John's career last Sunday. It will be released in Australia on May 18th and is named, 'Finding The Voice'. One commentator in the film remarked that John's journey has been akin to a 'Hero's Journey'. Many people do not realise the awful time John experienced before he fully and finally 'made it' and that is revealed in the film as well as his wonderful success. Love you, John and keep healing.
Have loved John since I was little. Lisa Edwards has been singing in John’s band for 40+ years or close to. John needs all our loves and prayers at the moment as he is in the fight of his life unfortunately we will never see him sing live again. He is an Aussie legend , he is always the first to put his hand up to raise money for Aussies doing it tough well he is doing it tough so pls if your a fan send him prayers.🦋🌅🇦🇺🙏💞
Lisa Edwards has a beautiful voice, and is one of life’s beautiful people. I met her through musician friends, back in the early 80’s, and used to see her often. She is one of life’s angels..❤️
Oh yeah The movie is fantastic. Also addresses the life and death of Glenn Wheatley and his impact on John’s career. Losing Glenn to covid just months before John’s cancer surgery
Lisa Edwards is a beautiful person and a gifted singer whom I would have liked to have met 35-40years ago😍😘. Lisa is married to a prominent Melbourne barrister ((envy🤢just kidding🤣)) and they have a daughter - Maddison - who is also a talented singer. I was fortunate to watch John & Lisa sing this beautiful song at a Melbourne concert when Lisa was probably 6-months pregnant. Apart from being a great solo performer and working with numerous Australian and international stars; Lisa has been working with John Farnham for about 35-years. Lisa, Lindsay & Venessa have been predominantly the purest backing vocalists (all gifted musically) that any artist, who could match John’s vocal range, would engage as their backing team; in a heartbeat. 🙏Sincerest best wishes to John & family. Godspeed John - to a full recovery with “The Voice” in all of its globally acknowledged glory🙏🇦🇺❤️
This particular performance is the definitive version of this song, great pick Michael. I always marvel at his microphone technique - he's coming through the audio at full volume, with a mike sock on, holding the thing nearer his belly button than his mouth. His natural vocal power is something to behold. Someone who knows more about it than I do once told me that John and Lisa have the same mike save for the mike sock, so just compare the volume. And Lisa is a very accomplished singer!
John has always been generous to his backup singers and musicians. He never forgets to acknowledge them and give them a chance to shine. A great example of this is Amazing Grace with Vanetta and Lindsey. It's really something to see. Really looking forward to seeing his Bio movie Friday, John Farnham - finding the voice. Can't wait.
I've been in the audience for this special duet and it's beautiful 💜 the audience are silent enjoying the beautiful performance. Don't know how lisa keeps her composure when John's trying to make her laugh
Damn man... made me cry lmao.... John nearly always does..... he starts singing, his beautiful co-singer whether that be Lisa, Venetta or Lindsay, joining in..... I get this hitch in my throat and the tears come.....
Love this performance 👏 I heard Lisa was always very nervous at the front of the stage so the banter at the start was sort of John trying to calm her nerves. Even though she has been performing with John for over 20 years at this point.
No, it is just him trying to make her laugh, because she is so professional. She is a singer in her own right and has done years of stage work both solo, and as part of a group.
❤ always love your reaction and appreciation of John Farnham! His backup singers were the best quality and their talent underrated as they blended with John seamlessly. If you haven't done so already watch the duet with Olivia Newton John ... the performance is breathtaking and masterful
Lisa Edwards is an Australian singer and musician, who in 1992 had a top 5 hit on the ARIA Singles Chart with her cover of Godley and Creme's Cry. Lisa is primarily a backing vocalist, who along with Vanetta Fields and Lindsay Field, has worked with John Farnham from 1988 to 2010; also with Kylie Minogue, and other fellow Australian and international artists.
What a great all round performance by these two. Lisa has been great and a loyal back up singer for many years. John’s voice in this one is magnificent
Hey Charlie, there is a gorgeous version of John's 'Please Don't Ask Me' with Danielle Gaha, another of his backing vocalists. It is now my favourite version of that song. It speaks a lot of the man, when he acknowledges his singers and musicians during a performance. The doco of John is released in cinemas in Australia and New Zealand this week - can't wait.
As always, Charlie, I love your reactions to John; as advised by many others Lisa has been with John forever, she was backup through those other live performances you have seen and loved. We are all wishing him a swift recovery from his operations.
You should pay attention then, Chuck. Lisa Edwards is one of his backing singers who has been with him for most of his "John" career. She shows great skill, like a champion jockey clinging to a surging racehorse, as she rides every note, matching Farnsey breath for breath, matching every nuance and inflection.
Sometimes I think does he actually need a mic😂 Absolute legend and everyone in the band are top tier as well Thanks again for your reaction and feedback.
I love John. He was my first ever concert as a kid.He is my favourite of ALL time. Lisa is an amazing singer in her own right. But as a back up singer - she KNOWS exactly what her job is. Her job is to under pin ever note of his and not to shine higher. She compliments his voice in every song. She matches his pitch, his inflections and she she rolls when he goes off script. She's brilliant and she deserves SOOOO much credit. Sure, I know John can be so cringe sometimes. He's just a big kid. Naff as he is sometimes it's just shows how much he loves life and what does. he genuinely loves the people around him. it's beautiful. I hope he is feeling well and knows how much we all. love him xxxx
I had the privilege to be at this night. Absolutely amazing song and performance. Everyone was dead quiet when they sang out of respect. Like others that have commented here, I too get teary listening to John’s music. You do an amazing job reacting to John. Thanks Charlie! 😊❤️
Love your reactions to our beloved John. Please check out "You're The Reason Why" live performance by John & Richard Marx at the ARIA awards 1994. The song was written about John's young son Robert. It is beautiful, the clarity of John's voice & the pure emotion are astounding. Much love from Australia. 🇦🇺💕
I think this is my favourite John Farnham song. Richard Marx wrote the song as representative of how a parent feels about his/her child, although many think it is about being in love. Beautiful sentiment expressed by Richard in these words and John's voice was the perfect vehicle to deliver it no doubt thinking of his own child.
Lisa is one of John's longest serving BACK up vocals and John always brings them forward to let them Shine. Kudos to John Farnham and thank you for the amazing 👏 Reaction. Please do more John Farnham. Much love from the Fiji 🏝 🇫🇯 Islands
All 3 of John Farnham's backup singers (Lisa Edwards, Vanetta Fields and Lindsay Field) have been with him for years. The all harmonise so beautifully. Saw JF and his amazing band twice in the late 80's and early part of the 90's. Sublime. ❤
I was a friend of Lisa's, and she was so excited to be chosen to be one of his backup singers. She came to tell me, and I was so excited for her. She is a real gem.. I miss her...
Prayers for our precious Australian legend John Farnham, fighting mouth cancer. So far doing ok... As his two sons have reported. And a documentary is being released in cinemas of his life May 2023... I've had the pleasure being at many of his concerts, even Stole a kiss on the cheek from this legend.. Lisa Edwards is his constant/regular back up vocalists...
The woman singing the duet with John Farnham is "Lisa Edwards" - she has been his backup vocalist for years (decades) as have most of his band members done also.
Such a lovely man. According to my mum I’ve been ‘in love’ with him since I was 3 years old. I believe that clearly shows really good taste from a young age?!?!
U need to look up his Amazing Grace performance. It features his amazing back up singer Venetta Fields who is American. She was an Ikette for Ike & Tina Turner, Rolling Stones & Barbara Streisand. That’s just to name a few. U don’t need to review it it’s just beautiful to listen too.
He certainly has a very powerful voice. It's definitely not true that every other singer holds the microphone close though. It's a very common technique amongst powerful vocalists to increase the distance of the mic from the mouth when needed
John has been admitted to the 1:47 hospital again with an infection again.and we in Australia are praying for him. He underwent extensive surgery . We are praying for him as he fights cancer and infection. Please, everyone, pray for him and his family I grew up when he first started and have always loved his voice and charisma. I am 70 and remember going to his shows as a teenager. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
Hi Charlie newly subscribed as I have loved John Farnham all my life since his first record.... Lisa Edwards has always been one of his singers and friend for years.... I actually went to Primary School with her two Sisters...her younger sister Sally we were friends and went to their house we lived in the same street.. And was friends also with her middle sister Ronda and she was off persuing her singing career then.. Never got to meet Lisa but her family were lovely. 😊❤
Please please please, do a reaction to john farnham singing when the war is over, the last time concert in 2003 in melbourne. It is so emotional and powerful. He was 53 then and we consider it his best performance of the song. We grew up listening to john, he only got better with age. He is not only a legend , he is our legend and has been the sound of many of our lives.
This was from my very first John Farnham concert in Melbourne and it was absolutely brilliant. Still have the concert book and the ticket stubb. Great memories.
Make sure you watch the performance of Playing to Win with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It is peak Farnham. It also demonstrates something of the relationship between him and his fans when [spoiler] one of the audience manages to get on the stage and to him. Enough said.
@@marekreardon3977 yes I sat on his knee and got a kiss and autograph when I was 8...And every concert got to shake his hand...He's a lovely person as well...😊
Hey Charlie, John will always be a pure entertainer without a doubt. Just for something different, have you tried listening to Disturbed - Sound Of Silence - Amazing
Hi Charlie lovely to see you again still supporting our Aussie artists. I don't know if you noticed where John holds his mic. I am always gob smacked that the louder he sings the further away he holds it. lol In this it's mainly held near his chest. Did you know that Sony Pictures are releasing a movie on his early years here in Australia, not sure it will be released elsewhere. Here is their trailer for you. ua-cam.com/video/LocCfc5PKrE/v-deo.html
You will see Lisa in most of Farnham's live shows, mostly as a BLONDE. She was recently interviewed at the premier of the Farnham documentary in Melbourne which John couldn't attend due to his health.

Charlie, John’s not always belting or straining, he also has a powerful voice. I’m sure you’ve noticed where he holds his mike. I watch all your JF reactions.❤
Lisa is one of John's long time backup singers. .A beautiful voice but as you know in the eighties it was all about being photogenic .so less talented singers like Kylie and Olivia werev promoted ahead of her because she was not blond .
I get teary watching a lot of reactions to John recently. Many of us have taken his amazing voice for granted as he has been a part of our lives for so many years. Seeing his gift through others, like yourself, is a real joy. Thank you❣️

Lisa edwards, one of John’s long standing backing vocalists. She’s got a great voice also.

After 30 years as John's back up singers, Lisa matches John word for word, breath for breath, truly an amazing performance , Lisa is usually blonde
She has been blonde since the 80s
John has always said that Lisa is his rock on stage. She knows when he breathes and is a great singer in her own right. John has always had the best musicians in The John Farnham Band.
He also does the fooling around to get her laughing so she can't go on. Doesn't work she's a consumate professional.
John's voice is always amazing, but seriously, look how far away he is holding the mic compared to Lisa and he is still crystal clear. The power he shows in his live performances is mind blowing.
I was there.....FRONT ROW BABY. This whole show was unreal. Experiencing John live was unreal.
Just a wee bit Jealous 😀
I was at this particular concert as well. Absolutely brilliant. Also have the DVD.

Lisa is always there. Has been a part of his band since 1988
His back singer for years
Charlie have a look at when Farnsey won Australian of the Year in 1987.😊 just confirms what sort of human being John is. ❤️🇦🇺
Watch funny farnham, and the interview compilation.
Thank you, what a lovely way to spend an Aussie autumn afternoon. Cheers.
This was from my very first John Farnham concert in Melbourne and it was absolutely brilliant. Still have the concert book and the ticket stubb. Great memories.
I have no idea how Lisa manages to keep a straight enough face to sing. You can almost hear her eyes rolling. 😂
Have to say I appreciate how you reaction is so respectful; genuine and without constant interruption during the performance.
Regular back up singer for Farnham for many many years
You have to watch Playing to Win....So good upbeat. You'll love it... He co wrote it x😊❤
Make sure you watch the performance of Playing to Win with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It is peak Farnham. It also demonstrates something of the relationship between him and his fans when [spoiler] one of the audience manages to get on the stage and to him. Enough said.
@@marekreardon3977 yes I sat on his knee and got a kiss and autograph when I was 8...And every concert got to shake his hand...He's a lovely person as well...😊
You should listen to John, Venetta and Lyndsey sing AMAZING GRACE. Absolutely beautiful ❤
*Lisa has been singing with him for over 3 decades now....and she's got solo success herself*
Hey Charlie, John will always be a pure entertainer without a doubt. Just for something different, have you tried listening to Disturbed - Sound Of Silence - Amazing
Would love to see your reaction to John singing Amazing Grace with Vanetta Fields and Lindsay Field
I get emotional every time i lusten to his voice ❤
❤ thank you.
A beautiful song. Lisa has been one of his brilliant backing singers for years!!! 😁
Thank you Charlie, you are the best mate.
You will see Lisa in most of Farnham's live shows, mostly as a BLONDE. She was recently interviewed at the premier of the Farnham documentary in Melbourne which John couldn't attend due to his health.
I first saw John and Lisa at a club for about $30 Lisa had a mowhawk then Jill was there it went straight to the Entertainment Centre after that ❤❤❤
Lisa Edwards has been on of three of his back up performers for at least the last 20 years
She was there at his Hay Mate set to raise money for farmers in 2019. So make that 30 years
Lisa Edwards is a beautiful person and a gifted singer whom I would have liked to have met 35-40years ago😍😘.
John Farnham and Tom Jones on Hey Hey Its Saturday.....you must watch. Brilliant and funny, typical John x yishidde momma ...i think thats right
Off topic but i definitely tell you've been hitting the gym crazy bro
Charlie, John’s not always belting or straining, he also has a powerful voice. I’m sure you’ve noticed where he holds his mike.
I watch all your JF reactions.❤
Her name is Lisa and she was his back up singer for years. She stopped when she was preg.
She came back, she is singing with him in 2020.
Lisa Edwards is one of his backing vocals
Lisa is one of John's long time backup singers. .A beautiful voice but as you know in the eighties it was all about being photogenic .so less talented singers like Kylie and Olivia werev promoted ahead of her because she was not blond .
Backup singer
There is another video where Lisa gets him back and he loses it laughing
haven't seen that one do you have a link?
@@devi_- me too
@@devi_-you can see it when she was inducted into the south Australia hall of Fame.
