I feel like LDR brings couples more closer than a normal relationship does. Like you don't see a person for a long time and then when you do meet them again its very emotional, tight hughs ect :

I've been in ldr for 3 years, hated every part of it. Good thing that in the beginning of our relationship we already were at that point where we knew what ldr is like from previous relationships that didn't work and made our intentions clear that it's either us seriously working to closing the distance or not even starting all that. I saw him 4 times, on fifth we got married. We really did put everything into this. I couldn't survive any more goodbyes at the airports, it's the worst part of ldr. Crying for 8 hours on the plane then 2 hours in taxi and a few more weeks in bed before it all goes back to normal. Finally, no more. So happy to call him husband now and sleep next to him every night and know that there's no ticket back!

2 years here. Makes you increasingly annoyed at people who don't see each other for a week and go "I miss you so much".

To survive this kind of relationship, the couple has to trust one another, have great communication skills, and are both patient as well.

I'm in a 5 year relationship. Started LDR and still LDR now. Just tip, talk everyday. Even if you're not in the same country. Always try to talk and update. Tell your SO "hey I'm On my way to school, im going to sleep text u when i wake up" it takes like a minute to update and the other person will feel at ease knowing where you are. When you don't have that physical contact, communicate! That's the most important factor of LDR! Having time to talk to each other. Stay strong my dudes who are in the same situation xx

U know guys the awesome thing to have LDR relationship is
When both of u apart .. both of u still have awesome relationship and communication
Imagine if u are together .. u are one
That will be strong relationship ever

I've met my boyfriend 10 years ago during a language course in England. We were 15 but we have kept contact through all these years. At the beginning of this year we decided to meet each other again and it was love at first sight. Since then we are inseparable, he is from Spain and I'm from Switzerland, I hope that the distance will end soon 😊

My wife and I were in a LDR for 3 years. At the time, I was studying in Malaysia and she was working in China. I pretty much did nothing to protect our relationship becuz I was really lazy and playing stupid vid games every day, we do phone calls every night tho(except I said I’d marry you, which we did on the 2nd year). In this relationship, she sacrificed a lot, she would come and visit me every 2 or 3 months, and stay for 1week just cook for me. Most of my friends thought she was based in Malaysia but just had a lot of business trips in China. Anyway, since then it has been 4 years, we’ve been sticky to each other every single day. Last month, our little kiddo Jesse just came to this world, he is the prettiest thing I’ve seen in my life. If it is not because of her, I guess we’ be apart long time ago. Thank you, my forever princess.

This is the most genuine and causal interview ever and it reassured me a lot. I was so worried about doing ldr (though it’s not official yet but because I was kinda worry whether it will work out or not) everything that’s being said here is so true and relatable. Trust is definitely the most important. Anyway if he/she is a cheater, they will be a cheater regardless if they are miles apart or just right next to you. Cheers to all the ldr couples. You guys are beyond amazing!

Long distance relationship since 4 years. He's in the US and I'm here in India, 14982 kms to be exact. We are getting married next year and can't wait to be with him. Long distance is one of the purest test of love. You will never ever take the simple things granted in life, once you're in an LDR, even the tiniest thing like having coffee with your partner, or random walks in parks - you'll start to enjoy the little things in life! Totally worth it.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences! I've been in a LDR for almost a year now (Canada & America). Things aren't always peaches and cream between me and my man. However, I cannot imagine my life without him by my side. Lately, insecurity and trust/abandonment issues have been getting in our way. I felt my own insecurities taking over me tonight. I felt like I was going to break up with my bf because of it. I just needed a reminder of the positive things about LDRs. Thank you for giving me hope. It really stopped me from doing something I would deeply regret. I wish you all the best of luck in your relationships ❤

    🇵🇹 Portugal and Philipines 🇵🇭
Almost 5 months here. And still going strong.
There was a time of weakness, doubt... I also thought it was easier to just break up. But then I'd imagine how my life would be without her and I realized that I just couldn't pass an opportunity like this.
Who knows if I'd be able to find another one like her? I mean, we're the same. Well, not physically, of course. But we mostly like the same things, think the same way... We are basically riding in the same direction. And that's great.
We even had the same shirt color at least 3 times in a row. How crazy is that? I mean, it's funny to say the least. xD
I'm planning to go to her as soon as I can. ❤️
EDIT: I forgot to say but we have a 7 hour difference. There are worse cases, sure, but it's hard nonetheless. So, basically if whenever we want to talk I must make time on my lunch break or she must make time before going to bed at night (when I'm leaving work) or on the weekends. But sometimes it's not possible due to one of us having a life too and not being able to make it that weekend. Like on this weekend. I went on a trip to a more rural place that had very bad internet connection yesterday and today she's attending a christening.
Life happens, but that doesn't mean you can't send a message or photos and videos. I did it. I took time in getting through but it did... eventually. hehe
In sum, you have to have self-confidence, trust, loyalty and communication. These four are the key. All the rest are bonus. Oh, and you better have a goal. You better be sure you are going to her or her to you whenever you can. You might not have an exact date yet, but you have to have something. :)

I loved this! I have been in a LDR for 3 years now because of school and I thought that I was going for a long time. Some of you people are amazing. I thought it was true when they said that it is hard but it gets easier. But I think that is because I have been able to grow myself and loose a lot of my own insecurities. This video made my day!!

Recommend brought me here a year later, go figure. I’m almost 3 years in and I can totally agree that the most important thing is trust. We trust each other very much and that makes a HUGE impact on how easy it is to get through LDR. The second is communication for sure, and we have talked literally every single day, except 1 day, ever since we started taking. It’s hard to leave after I see my gf but we get back into the groove quickly. I hope others can learn from this video too because they say a lot of the right things. Side note I’m from USA and my gf is from South Korea, so yeah we’re literally across the world from each other. 👌

Just came back home from germany where my boyfriend lives. I think the goodbyes get both harder and easier each time. In a way you get used to them but at the same time it still always hits you and it hits you in the same spot each time. Luckily I only have to wait 3 months to see eachother again

So glad these couples stuck through/still sticking through their LDRS! I was in an LDR, but things unfortunately didn't work out. It was hard, but also rewarding. Trust and communication is so fucking important, if both ends don't reciprocate, then it'll be a disaster. I wish anyone who takes on an LDR all the best!! Keep on going!!

I always believe that the outcomes of a long-distance relationship would be very fruitful, as long as both of you have trust and strong commitment. At the same time, communication is the key to success in LDR. ^^

My boyfriend is in Helsinki now and he will return to Paris for his PhD study for another whole year. Things didn't go so well for us lately, he's showing some kinda of depression sysmtoms and don't wanna do anything except lying around and sleeping. When it comes to our relationship, we were on the edge of breaking up last night, but we finally agreed that we won't be talking about it right now, just live the way we used to be. I'll be here for my man as long as he needs to find the purpose of life and come back to me as the funny and handsome guy I knew since day one. I won't give up on this relationship.

Awww, this is so inspiring! Even though my boyfriend & I literally live in the same city, we rarely get to see each other (like, several times a month) because we go to different schools. I'm studying in a school outta town & he goes here. But he'd also go back regularly to his home town (which is so far away T_T) almost every weekend. It's hard I know. But seeing these couples separated by OCEANS & still seeing it through; makes me more grateful for what I've got. ♥♥ thanks for sharing!

Been in LDR for 2+ years(US and Vietnam), married for little over 1 year. Trust and communication is the biggest things to have in this type of relationship. Hardest part is not being able to reach out and physically touch them when you want, and only seeing through a screen. Good luck to everyone in a LDR.

For me, only one year passed and 4 to go. but the most important thing for us is communicate as much as possible. My bf studies over 6k kilos and time difference really is suck. Even he is offline or sleeping, i leave messages like i’m here,i’m doing that now or i’m heading out, i came home etc. some people say you don’t have to explain everything you did or where were you, he is controlling you, he is bla bla bla. But i will be mad too if i don’t know where he is or with whom he is. Right?
Every friends of mine tell me to quit, that i’m wasting my time, that he is cheating on me, he is going out there but you don’t know kinda things. Sometimes this words comes on my mind in the night, When I’m really confident for my self that i can save this relationship. It makes little scratches for my trust.
So. If you have a friend who is in LDR, please think before you say such mean advices. Think that you are ruining their confidence. And remember, real friends helps to save a relationship not for break up.
Ps: You know i cant tell this to my bf, neither my friends. So i just wrote here .

Loved this video. Going through it now. Learned so much and I can relate to experiences that they spoke about. Especially when they speak about communication and trust. So important!

I’ve been with my guy for 7 months right now. He lives in Canada and I live in America. It’s hard but we’re getting through it. We see each other at least every 1-2 months

    Canada 🇨🇦 & Japan 🇯🇵
I’m Canadian and my boyfriend is Japanese. He was an international student at my high school in grade 11. We fell in love, he went back to Japan for grade 12, and we were long distance for 1 year and a month. We made it through that and now he attends university in Canada. We are still going strong! Long distance really makes you treasure the time that you do have together, and realize how important communication is. ❤️

I really appreciate yall sharing this! me and my future Queen is apart in different countries, we met on FB.. it's definitely been different, but I'm grateful for the heart i've been given, because just being myself and the coaching and mentorship. i've gotten, has helped her to be a better person as well. so we always encourage, empower, and love on each other, and push each other to be better, and i'm thankful for that type of relationship. I don't have much right now, but I invest in her whenever I can to make sure she's ok. Thank you so much for this though! God bless!

2 years here, we had never met until this Christmas and he turned out to be the love of my life. We'll still have to keep this up for about 4/5 years but our relationship is so strong, I know we got this ❤️

    Lol I still don't know if I'm in a LDR 😂😂😂
BIGGEST CHALLENGE for me is to know how the other person feels about me 😫
That makes it harder when no one actually wanna go on that topic first ..... And of course insecurity is the HARDEST PART OF IT 😢
