The most I ever made (back in the glory days of Adsense) was $500-600 a month. At that time my channel was close to 40k like yours (and there was only 2-3 other regular BP uploaders). The other problem with gun channels (especially BP) is there’s a huge overhead involved in just getting a few views. I’m glad to see y’all carrying the torch!

Good morning Guys. I had a channel and it involved making paper cartridges, percussion caps, and "how to" videos such as how to disassemble a flintlock for cleaning. Somehow, I pissed off UA-cam. I believe they follow people who make comments and have video channels. Well, UA-cam did not like me so I was deleted. All my videos were taken down. So, I don't try to make videos anymore, and I had to rejoin UA-cam under a different name. This is what they did to me.

Because the soyboys at UA-cam don't know the difference in a flintlock musket and how to build a nuke. They could all use 12 weeks at Paris Island USMC bootcamp. This censorship will end in November Trump is going to regulate the pants off them.

Garrett is absolutely right. The black powder segment of shooting sports is VERY small. I also enjoy a slow growing channel. I host an unusual BP channel purely for entertainment fun & definitely NOT for the money. The time necessary to produce a video is enormous. The best way to realize that is......it generally takes roughly 1 hour of editing for every minute of video the viewer watches. Remember that. Make cool videos for the fun & don't worry about the money is my advice.

@@Real11BangBang 🤣👍 I reckon I find falling far short of greatness easier to live with if I haven't made the idea of being great my goal.
I have no idea how that lack of ambition and effort affects one who stumbled into greatness by happy accident, because I've not encountered such fortune 😁.
I can't recall ever buying one thing with a video in mind...other than that GoPro.
What the viewer gets from me is nothing more than a seat on this ride that I took by myself and with friends, long before UA-cam or even the Internet existed.
I'll never make this a job. I'll never have 30,000-80,000 subs,(and if I did, I'd only have maybe another $100-$150 to gain per month. That would never justify a lot of time and expen$e into just making videos...to me) but the subscriber count doesn't mean a lot, far as I can see. I believe what little stats I dug into has my views at roughly 15% from subscribers.
Like with reenacting, Mustangs, 3 wheelers, etc... when I get too far into the technical minutia of anything and obcess over something too much, I have a habit of not liking it anymore. If fun becomes work, what's the point?

A request for all the channels: Stop doing videos that just show some shooting. It's one thing if it's a short, and perhaps an unusual piece or one that loads oddly, but we have all seen hundreds of channels that just show someone loading an Italian reproduction cap and ball revolver (or worse, modern crap like Rugers), and usually with incredibly boring loose powder and roundball loads (come *on* people, paper cartridges aren't hard!). If someone wants my subscription, he has to teach me something, which means he has to do research (real research--not Redneck lore!!!) and he has to learn how to apply it. I have blocked channels that just show repro Colts with standard Walmart-equipment loading and shooting them without any discussion of historical loading methods, historical shooting techniques (especially taken from Manuals of Arms), historical scoring methods for target shooting, and/or discussions of historical ballistics (internal, external, and terminal--and if you don't know what they are, you're not ready to start a channel). Bring something good, documentable, *and* new, or don't bother.
