Dubai Hills Mall Indoor Run at by Emaar Dubai, Super Sports Events & Dubai Sports Council
It is so hot & humid at the moment & Rio is getting very frustrated for not being able to train so much outside or participate in races, so this race came at perfect timing & it did not disappoint - what great race!
So well organised, a true community feel event & something for everyone with choices of 10km, 5km, 2.5km, 1km - great to see so many children, families, new runners participate, as well as serious athletes!
We did the 10k as a team, Rio used his chair, Nick & Tia ( @_little.x.wolf_ ) did relays pushing Rio - it was a 2.5km lap of a great course around the mall - grateful for AC!
Rio had the best time!
Behind the scenes drama - as we arrived at the mall, we had a flat front wheel, luckily managed to pump it up fully, but when we finished & went back to the car it was flat again - grateful as that could've gone frustratingly wrong!
The race started at 6am, so ended in time perfectly for the shops to open & grab a coffee afterwards - Rio’s dream world: race + juice & croissant!
To us, these races are not about winning or getting podium, it is about spreading a message about community inclusion - Inclusive Impactivity - but it was an extra bonus surprise to know that Nick came first in his age group & Tia would have come 1st overall female. THANK YOU for all the cheering for Rio on podium - he loved it!
