    Thank you for your hard work! I grew up two blocks from JMB.He was two years older than me and when he first became famous I felt jealous.That jealousy then turned to admiration then to a awe.He is the father our generation and one the most important artist of all time.

      @@tyleralmaguer6488 Who cares if some are fake good art is good art The thing about any artist if they sell their soul somebody’s gonna get paid there are people who own low riders that are better than Michelangelo but they did not Sell their soul Picasso or singers you know what I’m saying there are a lot of people out there who are better singer than Bob Dylan and Beyoncé but if you sell your soul that’s the way it is The fact of the matter is if you are a hustler that is an art in itself 😑

    WoW!!!
    My 89th years!!!
    Can you believe it, my 89th years!!!
    My interest in (visual) arts ended when I became a jewelry-model maker, by carving cow-horns, and ivory (while in Africa) which later became wax’s models for casting precious metals.
    Now, in retirement I’ve returned to my first-love, visual art.
    All praises to the Creat

    I'm hardly any sort of Art Critic or anything, I just like his Work. It just seemed like JMB was just crushing it in 1982, he was so prolific.

    • @thecompletebasquiat6872
      @thecompletebasquiat6872  Рік тому +3

      You are correct! JMB is THE...THE...THE... most naturally gifted and driven American Artist, and made the most vital paintings a 22 year old kid ever made, IN THE HISTORY OF WESTERN ART. Basquiat, in 1982, accomplished a feat akin to Alex Honald's free solo of El Cap, when he re-configured artistic principles to create his own visual language; one with the technical and thematic depth of a seasoned artist who had been working for decades. And he never went to art school. Not one class. When Basquiat was 23, Andy Warhol scooped him, because he knew knew how good JMB was, and Warhol was jealous and wanted a piece of JMB. He wanted to control the font of genius. Sadly, so did many of the highest level art dealers, and I believe they let JMB die after they used him up, but that is a whole other story. Thanks for your comment!

      @thecompletebasquiat6872 Rembrandt was amazing at 22. So was Durer, Raphael, Michaelangelo, Leonardo, Picasso ...to name but a few. But he certainly did upend norms. He took crude shitty drawings and doubled down on them, going out of his way to emphasize that, like a nasty poke in the eye. Yet somehow he eventually made it all work. Totally agree his dealers used him and are partly to blame for his early death. I'm sure they were well aware of the market value of it.

      Thanks for asking, this started as a personal project when I started to seek out every digital image I could find. I live in NYC and also go to every show and auction to photo the paintings. The next step is going to the art reference library and looking through old catalogs and books. I am still working on revising the 1981-1985 periods, and have redone the 1981, 1982 videos, but it is a huge hassle, so I work in spurts. Of course there is not money in this and with the few subs, it is starting to feel like a waste of time, but thanks for checking it out.

      Look a bit longer. Also, consider his career stater when he was around 21 and he died at 27. Then consider the sheer volume of work.
      Ok, now look at what is consistent from piece to piece. Reflect on what his work was like in the times he was making it and who he was vs. who he was expected to be.
      You’ll start to see it if you really look.

    • @lukemoore7716
      @lukemoore7716 2 роки тому +8

      Very Simple. This is not for you. To me, this is much more interesting to look at than Rembrandt or any other realism artist.
      And second graders can’t do this. Neither can most adults who try and rip off his style and call themselves an artist.

      Many artists have simply type of art like keith haring but it’s more of the meaning and how it appeals to you (in my opinion) if you get to know the artist more you will have a better understanding. Basquiat was dealing with a lot of racism and there are hidden images to show what he and other people were going through. I can see what you mean by how it looks like a kid drew it and this type of art isn’t for everyone but I enjoy it because a lot of people think you have to be good at art but mostly its how it’s layout to make it look comfortable? Ig don’t know how to explain that. The art I don’t like is that splash of paint like Jackson Pollock or that modern art look I just don’t understand it and everything is missed placed to me I don’t know the meaning behind it so I can’t enjoy it when I look at it

      Basquiat's art is the best example how we live in time when marketing is way more important than talent.
      He painted doodles.

    Karel Apple
    + Cy twombly = Basquiat ...aint a damn thing original . cool paintings but lets stop revisioning his contributions.
    he was a drug addict who dated madonna and hung out with warhol ....if not for that he wouldve faded away . NO he was not involved in hip hop ...just because he knew fab 5 is meaning less. no he was not part of the graff scene either. most writers thought he was a joke.
    SAMO was 2 guys ...so theres that also.
    i was around for this crap . 90% of his fame is unwarranted and is fabricated.

      Somewhat correct, you're leaving out late Picasso and Dubuffet. These are just great paintings, done by a prodigy with huge talent. Every artist has precedents, doesn't diminish the work.
