I was once stuck in a lucid dream, and i asked the characters in my dream how can i wake up. They told me i should go to my room (in my dream) and sleep on my bed, and wait to drift off to real life. And so i did. Its pretty cool thinking about it the opposite way.

In my dream I knew I was and told the characters we were dreaming. So I started making whatever I want appear like infinity pools but I had to close my eyes and really think it. Then I taught my friend to do it too. Like she made food appear and the creepy place we were started to look better the more I got into it. I started to want to wake up but felt like I couldn’t I said I thought it was dangerous we were controlling the dream because we couldn’t wake up and kept having to control it though because crazy stuff would happen here and there. Thank god my alarm went off and I woke up. I was starting to think I couldn’t

I was in this dream about 6 years ago that I was being chased by this huge spider. Freaking scary. I hid in this walk in closet full of stuffed animals, thinking that would save me. Well the spider found me, but just before I was about to die, this humongous elephant just charged straight forward, and squashed the spider. I then woke up
BUT THIS IS WHEN IT GETS REALLY WEIRD...
I woke up and immediately told my brother that I had this dream about being chased by a spider.
He said that he had a dream where he was an elephant, and saved me from a giant spider.
    0.0 wtf...

I have had that sort of dream as well, but I was being chased by demons, and I broke my leg, but I was hiding in a creek, then they found me and told me that I was gonna die, but a lion came in and tore them up, I was explaining this dream to some friends at school, and one of them named Luke said that they were a lion saving all of his friends from weird red guys. I had also had another dream when I was six that I had saved my sister from Sully from monsters inc. and it was sleeping in her crib and I found the donkey kong hammer and blasted him onto Jupiter. Weird huh...

Oh yeah, and in my first lucid dream last night, I realized I was lucid whilst in my school auditorium with a friend when Hitler walked in. I didn't want to excite myself and wake up, so my friend and I spoke to Hitler. Before the conversation started, I imagined I had a fine cigar in my pocket, and sure enough, I did. So I spoke with Hitler while puffing on this cigar, which lit itself, by the way. He wasn't dressed in Nazi garb, and looked rather sad. He told us how he lost control of himself. Literally. He said his conscious left his body when he reached the teenage years. He told us how he resided in a purgatory like place where all he could do was look at the destruction he (or who he once was, but wasnt) was causing. He told us how he never meant for any of this to happen, but that that was besides the point. He looked me in the eyes and told me that I cannot lose control of myself ever. I can never lose sight of who I wish to become. I knew at the time that this was my subconscious telling me something as I was lucid, so I said thank you, to the plain clothed kind Hitler (Lol, I know) who stood in front of me. He left, and I decided to explore lucid dreaming. I walked outside of the school, and after that I had multiple vivid dreams, but I was no longer lucid. Crazy as fuck.

I've always been able to wake myself from a lucid dream at will by coughing. Always worked for me, small cough in the dream and I immediately wake. Recently though I have been waking into another layer of the same dream! The dreams also tend to be getting more sinister.
Example - Fell asleep on the sofa today, night shift and children/Wife out. Woke up in a dream in the exact same position, still able to hear the same programme on t.v. Noticed a shadow moving across the wall and could hear my children crying very faintly from the back of the house. I made the mistake of panicing, tried everything to get to the back of the house but was blocked (chairs in the way, unable to move completely). Even tried flying over the chairs (something I mastered as a teenager in lucid dreams). Composed myself and coughed. Opened my eyes in the original position. Quickly realised I had woken back into the dream. This went on...I woke in another dream layer in the exact same situation multiple times before finally waking back into reality.
I am loosing my signposts to LD now too. I had mastered it completely. I would position my head slightly back if I wanted to LD, lie on my side if I wanted a proper night sleep lol. Now it seems to be pretty involuntary and never pleasant like it used to be. I used to fly from my bedroom window and explore while the world slept...now it's always centred around defending my home/family from usually unseen threats!!!
Any advice from someone experiencing similar would be nice. Would like to get back to being able to fly around the world and wake at will!!!

This happens to me every night. Every single night! It's now 12am, I've been sleeping for two hours. I just woke up from being trapped in my own dream. I try so many ways to wake up. I've Googled ways to wake up when you're in this situation (focus on moving one part of your body, like your head or toes). It doesn't work. I've had trouble sleeping now weeks on end. I've always been able to lucid dream and I've had problems with sleep paralysis for my whole life but not until now, these past few months, that it happens every night. Sometimes it's so bad that when I wake up, I'm not even sure I'm awake and spend the next hour freaking out. My brain is so good at lucid dreaming that I can feel pain (slightly, it's like at 50%) so I can never know for sure if I am awake. In my dream, I'll be trying numerous things to wake me up. Slapping myself in the face, rolling off the bed, falling down stairs, chewing on my fingers. It never works. I try turning my head. I can feel it turning in real life. I know that if I open my eyes I'll be paralysed. Most people who experienced sleep paralysis can't move anything more than their eyes. I know I can movie my entire head because I've had a sleep paralysis episode where I did have my eyes open and I was moving my head from one side to the other. But couldn't move anything else. While I'm dreaming, I'm able to exit the dream world and enter some sort of middle ground where my mind is still trying to create dreams but my eyes are open (hence the hallucinations). But I don't want that. I want to fully wake up! What can I do? Please, if someone out there knows anything that could help me, I'm desperate.

A few years ago, I had just bought this cool alarm clock with natural alarm sounds, and I had it set on one called "The Docks", which sounds like a bell at the dock. I dreamed I was scuba diving in a shipwreck, and I heard the bell on the dock, and it was like a tether cord yanked me up towards the surface, and when I broke the surface, I woke up, like it pulled me up through the layers of the sleep cycle. Really cool to remember.

I find it weird that in your dream and my dream someone told you that it was just a dream. My dream happened like this: I woke up, then walked to my living room, my sister jenni was sitting on the couch om her phone as usual, she looked up at me and said "Melanie, you are dreaming."
I was confused, everything seemed pretty real to me. So I said
    "No I'm not."
    Then she said.
    "Then pinch yourself."
I pinched my cheek and felt nothing.
Then I thought, well if this is a dream then I can control it, so I controlled the rest of my dream. SOMEBODY ELSE TOLD ME JUST LIKE YOU!

I had a dream once when I was young and I'd always have nightmares and I was terrified of the unknown or unseen, I went to sleep like i regularly did, and found myself in a dark room with a very strange feeling like something bad was around. I could then start to hear mumbling of a very deep and cruel voice, but had no idea where it was coming from. I then felt it's breath and I tried waking up I remember I kept telling myself that it was just a dream I can wake up whenever I'd like and closed my eyes and opened them but I was still in the dream. I then became frantic and kept doing this over and over but only to find myself with the same results as before, it was then I realized I needed to face this monster face to face. I stood up with my chest pushed out and yelled come out and fight, or something along those lines. The monster began laughing and it sprinted towards me. I ducked and dodge it's grasp and upper cited him as he went sailing into the sky and the darkness lifted and that's when I tried to wake up again and I did. At that age I didn't know what lucid dreaming was but I was aware that I was in a dream for it was nothing like the real world and I've had other experiences with reoccurring nightmares and once I faced whatever I was scared of face to face everything was enlightened and happy and the nightmares stopped. I think it's just a mental block you have in reality and you handle then differently in your dreams.

I had a similar experience just a couple weeks ago.
I was swimming alongside my sister in the deepest level of a pool when our way up was suddenly blocked by a ceiling made of pipes and knobs. In my panic, I drifted out of my sister's view and decided I was going to try and breath, just to check, and I could; that was the moment I realized I was dreaming.
I often have partial-lucid dreams where I am aware that I'm dreaming and can therefore alter the storyline, but this one was the real deal. I could feel the water as I swam; my muscles flexed as I hurriedly guided my sister through a crawl space, knowing with great certainty that she was craving air; I felt my momentum as I kicked off the ground and funnelled through a narrow opening.
But unusually, this time I didn't have full control of the dream. This realization can be quite scary. It has happened to me a few times. I feel completely aware of my surroundings; I can touch, see, hear, and sometimes smell and taste, but I don't appear to be the omnipotent being that I usually am.
These unpredictable dreams are the ones that turn into vicious nightmares. The kind of nightmare where you can really experience the feeling of suffocating, or being beaten, shocked, burnt, shot, or cut open. The type of dreams where you are forced to helplessly watch a family member die.
Remembering unpleasant past (dream) experiences where these things have indeed happened, I swam frantically around looking for an emergency exit. I found one, of course, perhaps because a bit of my storyline-altering abilities were still intact.
As I went to grab the handle that was to pull me out of the water, I saw a regular woman staring at me in horror, horror because she could not breath underwater and was slowly accepting death as I had stolen her only way out. But I knew exactly what this meant. The woman wasn't placed here to make me feel guilty. Her longing petrified face was only a sign that the dream was beginning to take a darker turn.
I pulled up out of the water and entered ground level in a dark and gloomy restaurant. Nobody seemed to notice I was in my swim suit and dripping in water as I walked, cautiously through the tables. The waitresses all seemed to have the same demonic mask of a face which turned and followed my movements.
Positive they were preparing for my torture, I hurried down a set of stairs just ahead. They led me to a long hallway intersected with left and right turns every few feet, likely places to store hidden enemies. But instead of enemies, I found dark and decaying alleyways reappearing on either side of me.
Confused and scared, I continued on until I saw a door that seemed welcoming enough and entered. It was pitch black but as I rounded the corner to the right I found a long red couch and an old style TV waiting for me. So, accepting defeat, I sat down and watched the blank screen--emitting the smallest amount of light and a low hum--as I tried to will myself awake before I was found and slaughtered, my only two options, realistically.
The only way to wake up from a dream like this (at least for me) is to experience something so strong you can't comprehend it. Most common example is death. The creators of Inception were not far off on that point. But it could also be extreme pain, sadness, loss, or disgust. And those were feelings I began to have as I heard a few doors slam to my right and a muffled sort of meow.
I ran over, suddenly at the front door of my place, and an aged version of my landlord emerged holding my cat. I looked at my cat and saw he looked only a couple of months old and had a large indent on his forehead. My landlord told me he had found him jammed between the door and the frame, but spoke with a malicious dirty smile. I grabbed my cat at once and wafted my landlord out before I slammed the door in his face.
Now turning to my cat, I examined his injury. To follow the logic-less trend of a dream, I found a flap of skin that had been freed and pulled it back to reveal fully-functioning intestines residing in my cat's scull. He meowed in annoyance. In this moment of ridiculousness I began to feel control. I dropped my cat and as he turned to dust, I felt as though the dream was beginning to collapse. I was wrong.
One of the waitresses--who had died and come back a bit more translucent--appeared in the room and looked at me with an unwelcoming giggle. Walking slowly at first and then lunging ferociously, instantly inches from my face... and then disappeared. I thought I had been scared awake until, un-phased, I sat on the same couch watching the same blank screen. The waitress appeared once again, sending the exact same fear through my body. And once again, she charged at me as though in an endless loop of déjà vi.
This went on for several minutes until finally another waitress appeared, but in place of her head was a stretched oval shape covered in short brown fur resembling a morphed cocoanut. As she came closer and closer still I noticed the shape was moving as though something inside was trying to escape. She was now breathing on my face. She was making gestures and motions with her hands that I didn't understand. But somehow, my sub-sub-conscious received the message and I reached up my hand slowly.
The surface of the shape was rough and seemed to have a heartbeat, rapidly increasing in speed with what I could only imagine would be excitement. I squeezed, not knowing what to expect. As though with the force of a popped balloon, the monstrous shell burst, emptying its contents right into my face. Shocked, I reluctantly examined the mess only to find mounds of blindly wiggling maggots on my chest and down to the pit of my stomach where taste buds had conveniently sprouted. Biting down, I experienced their rubbery texture and awoke in my bed with the virtual taste of vomit in my mouth.
    THE END

I once had a lucid dream.
So I where the same bracelet all the time, sometimes I forget to take it off before I go to bed.
So there was five or six of my brother, I look down at my hand. I think "Where's my bracelet? Why is there clones of my brother? This isn't my house, this is a combination three of my old houses. Wait, this must be a dream!" So me being weird I yell "I want lettuce!" And a two cars crashed into each other, then a head of lettuce comes breaks through the window. I bit into it, I could taste the lettuce. I then wished for chocolate and the same thing happens. So after what feels like twenty minutes of eating dream chocolate (it was milk chocolate if you're wondering). I look for my iPad to see what would happen, I couldn't find it. So I'm bored and yell "Subconscious thing, show me something I wanna do!" So I pop into my choir. I start walking towards my crush, but I couldn't move myself. So "I" go up to her, and kiss her hand. I think "I'm done, I wanna wake up now!" So I was back at the weird house thing, I somehow get the thought "I stuck, I need to wake up! Maybe I need a final boss to beat!" So I start thinking of this real cool enemy with ice powers, and as soon as I'm done I was fighting him. I beat him, and then I saw a pink haired girl (she looked like she belonged in an anime) standing with her eyes close. There was someone yelling my name "(my name) Wake up! Wake up, (my name)!" The pink haired girl opens her eyes, I then woke up.

Ocean View I think I figured out a way to lucid dream every night. The next time you lucid dream, command your subconscious to lucid dream everytime you go to sleep. The subconscious is pretty much the gateway to the mind. You can command it to change social behaviors, stop habits easier, and even lucid dream every night.
If you want to get creative, you can give it commands that make dreams feel alot longer than real time.

    • @SupaNovaLove21

Something similar happened to me with the alarm clock when I had no knowledge of lucid dreaming. (While dreaming)I was in a room sitting down talking to relatives when I hear my alarm in the back of my head. In the dream I kept looking around very confused on what the sound was. The alarm started getting louder, and the louder it got, the more the dream started to fade away until I was finally awoken.

***** Oh heck yea I seen some crazy stuff, for the first few days I caught a glimpse of a reappearing light orb that was giant floating over me. It seemed cool and it changed shapes and different colours. Then 2 days ago the most creepiest thing I have seen appeared that night. I heard the unrecognizable deep voice then it went away when I woke up. I went to sleep again and I smelled a terrible rotting smell like something had died, thats when I saw the dark entity. It was a tall very thin figure that was all black, i couldn't see a face or eyes, but it's limbs looked mangled. It started to move and it went on all 4s crawling on my wall to the ceiling right above me. It stood upside down facing me inches away. It was the scariest thing I've ever witness, If I had money I could easily make a outstanding horror movie. I told my friend about this and she's a white witch, and she said it sounded like it could of been this thing called Zozo. Tell me what you guys think of this, is ut normal to see creepy stuff like this haha I think this was a lil too much for me lol.

This used to happen to me when I was a kid! I would get "stuck". I knew I was dreaming (I started dreaming lucidly from a very young age) but could not wake up. I'd call out for my mom yelling "Help mom I can't wake up, help wake me up!!" I really thought I was yelling but my mother said she never heard a thing every time I called for her to help me wake up. It was a scary experience and it happened several times throughout my childhood. Luckily the majority of my lucid dreams as a kid were good ones, amazing flying dreams.
Then about 4 years ago I would occasionally suffer from these disturbing sleep paralysis episodes..it was nothing like a lucid dream (which I love, my favorite thing is to fly. Over the years I have become great at flying and mastered "pushing off" to start flight and able to land when I want..I used to kinda crash land lol and wake up before I hit the ground) but these episodes were just as scary as the dreams I had in childhood when I couldn't wake up. I felt an unmistakable evil presence and was unable to wake up, completely "frozen". It was a horrible feeling. I would have to literally *force* myself to try and move my arm or leg to get out of it. I looked it up and learned for the first time about sleep paralysis. I was convinced beforehand that my house had an evil spirit in it that was haunting me in my sleep because these episodes started after I moved to my old house and stopped once I moved out. Oddly enough.I have not experienced that phenomenon since thankfully. A small part of me still believes that house was indeed haunted or at the very least harbored some very negative energy. But I'm just happy they don't occur anymore. So that's my experience with being "stuck" in dreams, it's scary and a very strange phenomenon.

Once when I was at my friends house I spent the night and his alarm clock went off in the middle of the night. So I woke up and nobody tried to turn it off so I just ignored it and went back to sleep. So in my dream I could hear it. I was at my friend's apartments and I found this rubber ball that would not shut up. It sounded exactly like the alarm clock but I didn't come to think of it. Anyway I tried SO hard to destroy it and break it and throw it away but it wouldn't be quiet. So my dream-self just ignored it and my dream continued. I didn't realize till when I woke up a second time to the alarm clock that The reason of that frustrating dream was because of that alarm clock.

I have never had a lucid dream but I would like to know how do you control them. For example, do you just think of a scenario in your head and then you enter it in the dream. Please respond.

you need a lot of practice to do such things, once you have your first lucid dream I would suggest you first try to stay in the dream. spinning aropund is a good method to do that. once your dream is stable you can try to close your eyes and imagine something and it should becoma real in the dream

One You first have a lucid dream the first thing you must do is to not get exited!
i know my first time going lucid lasted for 3 second because my reaction was so big, i woke up! If you do not wake up and your lucid do not do anything big. no flying or magic, touch your surroundings and try and become more lucid for a longer experience. Trying to use all your senses. Try and make a pie appear in your hand and eat it.
      hope that helps :)

i've once (or several more times, but this one was the most clear one) had a lucid dream. and at the point i knew i was dreaming i got a bit excited but i managed to calm down by slowly breathing and paying attention to the details in the dream. it was amazing. suddenly my dream was so real that i thought it was more real than real life. i wanted to do all kinds of things but i had to pay attention to not lose control of the dream. so i greeted someone and talked with a friend in my dream and i thought that i might could do something more fun, i imagined that there was a grenade in my pocket and i grabbed it. i pulled out the pin and threw it at a bunch of people i don't really like.

I want two!!!" and for some minutes i had killed bad guys but my father distracted me and all the atmosphere disappeared and suddenly it was like nothing happened . when i woke up i would have killed my subcouncius

Same thing happened to me today
I asked a lady next to me why I couldn't wake up
She told me I had to get on a train which can pop up anywhere
After like an hour of searching
I found it and got on
    Woke up!!

There is the possibility that rather than someone else coming into your dream, you somehow slipped into someone else's dream, making it harder for you to come back to what is your own consciousnesses. I used to slip into other people's dreams randomly to people from all over the world while hearing languages I didn't know and seeing completely unfamiliar landscapes. I would wake up with a short-lived scent on my body that smelled like wherever I had been. I lost that ability when I reached adulthood.

I recall winning an intense fight. I actually fight better in my dreams than I ever realized in reality.
If you know you are dreaming then you are in complete control of your dream.
However if you never asked yourself your dreaming and you act like its a reality, then your not in fully control of your dream.
The ways to understand your dream is to remember the stages that you end up in the exact order.
As dreamers, we only remember the middle of it, but not the beginning.
If you can remember the stages in your dream then you can have full control of those stages.
I asked myself if I was dreaming and I then knew I was.
I had few nights of practice but I end up getting the hang of it.
I can't control what to dream about but I can do what I want in those settings. For example I made myself flying around the city like superman. And did many other cool things.
Just try remembering the stages in your dream then you'll end up realizing your in a dream.
It's like the movie inception. You'll need to figure out the maze.

this also happened to me a while back and I remember this so well. I don't often lucid dream but I did this 1 time. I realised I was dreaming and I wanted to wake up but I just couldn't. I was at my school except everything was sunny and empty. There was a tire swing and I walked up to it and touched it. It was so real and I was desperately trying to wake up coz I was young and uncomfortable with the situation .at that time. Anyway I woke up after a struggle of running around in my dream trying to work out what was happening. If only I took advantage of that situation and did more.

I feel like this is a book I read called Don't Close Your Eyes. It was a really good book and got me into lucid dreaming actually. It was about this girl with a power or curse. She would get sucked into nearby dreamers dreams. And she taught herself how to lucid dream and stuff. It was a really good series.

the cool part about lucid dreams is that in that moment, all you know is what happened in the dream. you don't know anything outside of the dream until there is something in the dream that you have seen before or know very well.

Why are people so concerned about "getting stuck" in a lucid dream?
Why don't they enjoy their lucid dreaming time instead?
Most people have problems STAYING in the dream, so complaining about NOT waking up seems like a luxury problem to me.
You CAN'T get stuck in "dream limbo", seriously, learn to tell the difference between reality and fiction.

Last night I was in a lucid dream that turned into a lucid nightmare. If you can imagine a Halloween style haunted house but with dream quality special effects and everything is actually trying to get you, that's pretty much what it was like. I wasn't quite lucid enough to control much more than my own "body"(which felt like it weighed 1000lbs) so I was just stuck in a nightmare having to accept the fact that I was totally powerless.
