The symbolism in this video is insane. The line represents separation, like how Veneziano and Romano are separated when they were only kids and basically had to grow up without the other, how Canada and America were separated by America's desire for freedom and the Revolutionary War, and how Germany and Prussia were separated by the Berlin Wall or, in the video, the gate. And, I don't know if anyone caught this, but Germany and Prussia at some point where military hats like you'd see a General wear. Before the gate appears, Prussia is wearing it, but when the gate goes away, Germany is wearing the hat. To me, this may represent who's taking care of the other more. Beforehand, it was Prussia, but after the wall fell and Prussia was no longer his own nation, Germany had to care for him more. So, like I said, it's insane how much effort the person who made this put into the video and all the symbolism.
What I think is the most sad thing about this video is that all of the countries had someone growing up. America had England, Canada had France, Italy had Austria and Hungary, Romano had Spain and Belgium. Germany and Prussia, however, had nothing but eachother.
It's also sad Becuase Prussia and Germany are also the only siblings that didn't draw an emotional line between eachother, instead it was a physical barrier
I feel the need to mention that at about 4:50 America walks away first. And on he other side of the line Canada walks away last. As if he’s hoping America will come back. But he doesn’t. And honestly, that’s heartbreaking to me. Not to mention when the line comes back, Canada is the one standing there next to Italy. No America. Not until the end. And honestly, I can’t imagine how much that must hurt Canada. Edited Note: Canada starts he dance too and for most of it it’s only him dancing. America just joined for the end. And that hurts me.
Mostly because between Canada and the US was how each of them got their independent from British crown US(Alfred) wanted to be free but still be under the Commonwealth but the king of England didn't want that so they started taxing the colonies with paper, tea and chocolate etc. and actually sent people (who were poor) to jail if they didn't paid their taxes etc. That's mostly why we got our independence from British rule but we wasn't represented in London back then but stuffy British were mostly ruling over the 13 colonies not the other etc. Oh before or after the United States got it's independence it actually try to get British Canada to revoked against the British but didn't Canada (Matthew/Mattie) asked to gets its independence but still under British rule until 1980 when they ruled over their government but it a Commonwealth etc (I know that in hetalia they say Canada is the oldest but if ur looking at when they were colonized/or independence Canada been free of British rule for over 100+ years the United States free from British rule for 245+ years)
I am only now realizing that empty chair in the end was supposed to be for Old Fritz, with how Gilbird is sitting on it and was supposed to symbolize like how others are watching over rest he is still watching over Prussia all the time and that is not okay I was not waiting for such feels ;A;

Like for Italy and Romano with have North Italy being part of Austria and the South Italy being part of Spain Although yes America and Canada were then under British rule too but they kinda separated during the Revolutionary war when Canada helped England while America is fighting England And for the German brothers they were separated due to the Berlin wall this is making me feel sad brb i m gonn a go cry in a corner

At the end, all of the guardians look upon the brothers bonding with parental pride. *THE SHADOWS- the shadowy figures either mean that Germany and Prussia grew up very lonely and surrounded by possibly strangers/very strict and distant caretakers, or they just didn't have anyone at all. *THE HAT- for Germany and Prussia, the hat is a symbol of leadership, a.k.a. who was taking care of the other. Instead, he has Gilbird to look after Prussia now. *THE WEST- Prussia's whole "FUCK THE LINE!" moment where he completely disregards the previous separation and makes the first move to reach out to Germany, his little brother. *THE ACCEPTANCE- the first step to any forgiveness, accepting that you have done wrong, but also accepting that you are still family, and then reaching out. *THE DISTANCE- at the end, when the pairs have reunited, look at the distance between the brothers. Germany and Prussia are obviously the closest, then the Italy's, and America and Canada are farthest away since they really aren't that close. *THE BACK- when the six have their backs to each other, it's as if they are saying that they will disregard any previous connections. Then they walked away, and the order that they started doing so is important, because it means how fast they separated. *THE LITTLE ITALY- when Italy crouches into a ball, it could possibly be him trying to shield himself from the hurt caused by his continued separation from Romano, as he realizes what a big distance there is between him and his brother, and he doesn't like it. *THE CIRCLE DANCE- when all six are dancing in a circle, possibly representing that they want to reunite the distance between their own respective sibling. Feel free to add in whatever you've noticed that I missed or if you disagree with something on the list or even if you think there is more to any one of the symbols than what I put.
In my opinion, when they all reunite, I saw how close everyone to their sibiling as a symbolism to their condition as countries and how that affects their relationship. Prussia isn't really a country anymore, he was a part of Germany but not in the same capacity as the Italian brothers. Then, the Italian brothers are each a part of one country, together they are Italy. At last, America and Canada are not that close like the rest because they are each a country on their own.

Why do you do this to me? I love the video a lot and I know everyone has said how they left and what it means but think of what they felt like! Romano/Italy Italy went with Austria and Romano was sold to Spain HE WAS SOLD! He was with Italy for a while before Austria got them then Romano was sold to Spain not able to protect and love his brother, not only that! Germany who is the holy Roman emperor was with Italy as he grew up! No wonder Romano hates Germany he had his brother when he was taken away and still has him! Italy hates that Romano left but looks to the bight side of things, they get back together in the end I bet they both were crying but to Romano’s dissatisfaction Italy is always with Germany. Canada/America. Canada is older and England (and France) found him first before finding America France took Canada while England had America, England took Canada back and showed him his little brother. Once the wall was broken down Prussia was happy to see his little brother alright same for Germany. Tears sobbing and hugging were present.

Romano/Italy
Italy went with Austria and Romano was sold to Spain HE WAS SOLD! He was with Italy for a while before Austria got them then Romano was sold to Spain not able to protect and love his brother, not only that! Germany who is the holy Roman emperor was with Italy as he grew up! No wonder Romano hates Germany he had his brother when he was taken away and still has him! Italy hates that Romano left but looks to the bight side of things, they get back together in the end I bet they both were crying but to Romano’s dissatisfaction Italy is always with Germany.
Canada/America.
Canada is older and England (and France) found him first before finding America France took Canada while England had America, England took Canada back and showed him his little brother. Unlike Italy and Romano they were together. They had time to get close and bond! Canada went on to say he would help America leave and would go with him. In the end he didn’t do this he also must of felt hurt when France the first to raise him went to America telling Canada he was wrong. He went with England and America was by himself. America knew what he had to do he’s never hated Canada like Canada thought he was just mad, England when they were way older let Canada see him Again.
Prussia/Germany.
Germany died. YES HE DIED! (I believe that’s what the chair means) He was the holy Roman emperor but he died and came back as Germany. Prussia was with holy Rome and took care of him but since he died Prussia brought him back as a new country (this would also explain why he can’t remember Italy) he had to see his little brother die once. Prussia loved Germany believe it or not Germany loved him to. They had a wall between them both of them depressed because of not having each other, Prussia probably felt that he had failed once again to keep his brother safe. Once the wall was broken down Prussia was happy to see his little brother alright same for Germany. Tears sobbing and hugging were present.
