@@kanal74299 that's why I dislike any contest tv shows. Because it's never about the contestants, it's only about jury(celebrities) and entertaining the audience at the expense of people who just want to achieve their dreams by humiliating and insulting them for anything
This show was terrible they made the girls feel bad for not being mindless drones or not just doing anything the multiple girls that where uncomfortable with nudity and sexual photos we made to feel bad I said it once this show was a ego trip for Tyra so she could degrade young up and coming models
She went through anger management and got screamed at for using those skills when she got eliminated. Tyra was clearly hoping for a breakdown for the ratings.
Yup. They try and choose emotionally volatile people as contestants for the drama. Tyra was likely told by producers that she had to coax out an explosion from her. I am super proud of Tiffany for not falling for it.
Tiffani was very eloquent trying to communicate how she was feeling, she was calm and well-spoken. I think Tyra just was not listening and Tiffani was being misunderstood. I feel bad for the girl, there is nothing wrong with saying you are not comfortable with something in this industry, but the message coming across in this episode is "do what they tell you to do, don't ask questions, don't say no." and if you stand up for yourself, this is what you get? Nahh Tiffani isn't the unprofessional one here. I think that making an effort is always a good thing, but I've been in the modelling industry for 6 years and have never once had to read a teleprompter or read lines. And if the opportunity came up, I'd pass on it. Being unwilling to read a teleprompter doesn't mean you can't do well as a model. Being uncomfortable with a lingerie shoot also doesn't mean you can't do well as a model. Also, the way Tiffani handles defeat is actually very healthy for the industry. You get rejected over and over again, people can be rude, you can go weeks without any work sometimes, but you gotta have a good head on your shoulders and know it's not the end of the world, and move forward. Tiffani did that. GOOD ON YA GIRL, I hope you continue to pursue your dreams and prove them all wrong.
Perfectly said 👏The whole show seems to be throwing these ladies into scenario's that intimidate or humiliate them and then acting like they're wrong for questioning it..like your going to do the first photo shoot totally naked..we're going to chemically straighten your textured hair that you've been growing for years as an expression of pride in your heritage...we're gonna submerge you in water although you're terrified of drowning 🤬Then when you try to resist the abuse...we're gonna tell you youdint really want to be a model!
I agree that her way of grieving was healthy. She even said that there wasn't anything she could do about it. But Tyra wants tears so when she doesnt get it she makes them cry and gives them a Me-me-me story and tells them "If you cant be like me you dont deserve to be here."
"When my momma yells at me like this it's because she loves me!" That's a classic way to excuse abuse. Don't let anyone convince you they're screaming at you because they love you.
@Tobias Cox Obviously it is possible to yell at someone you love, but never believe someone who says they're yelling BECAUSE they love you. It's a manipulation tactic.
@@makenziemurphy1435 That's not what I said. I said don't let anyone convince you they're screaming at you BECAUSE they love you. This is abuse and the mental health community will back that up.
@@makenziemurphy1435 Also there is a difference between yelling and screaming at the top of your lungs. It is never okay to scream at the top of your lungs and claim it is love. If you are doing this to someone or if someone is doing this to you, then you are in an abusive situation.
Is this not how an abuser talks? "I'm only yelling because I love you" And unfortunately she was able to manipulate Tiffany into believing that being screamed at is "love"
I guess she just said that at the final interview so that the show wouldn't get a bad reputation/opinion. Maybe it was in the terms/contract for being on the show idk
She literally said "you went through anger management" while berating her for not being upset about being let off the show. Maybe she just knows how to control her emotions Tyra.
Tyra yelled at that girl specifically because she didn't succeed in degrading her to the point of tears. She was genuinely mad because Tiffany didn't break down the way she wanted her to. Tiffany was right, the stupid challenges were absolutely degrading and humiliating and because she refused to not only stroke the judges egos but verbalize how ridiculous it was they decided she was now a target
I remembered when I first watched it(was pretty young) I was on Tyras side. Mainly because it did seem like Tiffany didnt care about the competition and was just like whatever. Rewatching it, I realized that it seemed more like she was trying to keep her emotions at bay and be dignified. If I remember correctly she had tried out for the show twice. Also being a way from her daughter was hard on her too. SO she clearly wanted to be there but by that time she prob didnt feel it was worth it and just wanted to go home to her kid. You are right that Tyra yelled at her cause Tiffany didnt seem sad enough about being eliminated.
Why is it when the model gets emotional it's "unprofessional", but when Tyra can't control herself and YELLS and the contestant it's her "caring like a mother" and being more human ʘ‿ʘ
To be fair the era Tyra grew up in was where models were treated as the product. Even Naomi talks about models needing to get a hard skin cause back in the day they would be very mean to “useless models”. Now there’s a change
@@carmencapa6945 well she needs to get with the program then. Just because she grew up someway doesn’t make it right for her to treat others how she grew up too. She needs to know what is right and it’s 2021 so that def isn’t right
@@PinkPixelProductions but she wasn’t “mean “ all the time and honestly it’s a great lesson for the girls to learn to take criticism and block negativity. Life’s a b**** welcome to the world girls. This not the only time u’ll meet people like that
@@addie-eileenpaige6460She's always trying to play sympathy cards by saying "When I was 13 or 15 in Paris..." every time a model didn't do well in photoshoot even though it's not connected to what happened. That isn't sympathy, that's showing off that she used to go to Paris at teenager.
One of the things that riles me most is Tyra telling her that she could change it, when Tiffany says she’s tired of crying over things she can’t change. What, were you going to save her if she cried? Were you gonna go “lol jk it was just a test” if she started begging to stay? Tiffany’s only crime was taking her elimination in stride, being strong about it. The judges were just offended by her personal feelings and were out to hurt her for it, imo. It’s disgusting. It’s the peak of reality TV’s dark nature.
exactly. And I'm annoyed by the hypocrisy, because I CAN BET Tyra would find a situation to say ''in real life you will have to be strong about failure, not cry but suck it up and move on''. But the second a model does just that, instead of breaking down, she's being called out and called disrespectful.
If she cried, I'm positive Tyra would have done the opposite "BE STRONG TIFFANY, DON'T CRY" -- I've been gaslighted before and this is a classic gaslighting situation. No matter what she said, she lost. Because it's all a power play for Tyra. Tyra is the queen of the Doms.
Since I've been a child I've been following Germanys next top model with Heidi Klum (I grew up in a germanic country) when years later I stumbled across ANTM I was horrified and shocked! Heidi has never ever disrespected the girls, always gave very helpful coaching, interesting photo shoots (that aren't horrifically offensive) and overall the show was more focused on the girls process and rarely focused on Heidi herself! Same concept, VERY different show
Britain’s was also more supportive, especially when the girls got drastic haircuts. Brits seem to freak out even more from a pixie cut (‘boys’ haircut), but they often held their hand and talked them through it until the girl was ready to be brave and go for it.
Tyra basically said 'how dare you have a mature and healthy reaction to being kicked off a TV show' after she just humiliated her at least twice in the episode :(

After the show Tiffany said on E! True Hollywood Story that her exit interview saying she appreciates Tyra caring about her was bull. The way she really felt is if Tyra really cared she wouldn't have shown it the way she did freaking out on her. And Tiffany's grandma said if you really love somebody you won't humiliate them. (If anyone would like to see that episode of E!THS it's currently on Odysee)
"You've been through anger management! Why aren't you getting upset?" Uh.. because she went through anger management and learned how to not explode in the face of adversity? And she was joking because the other girls were crying and she was trying to make them feel better. Because she's an inherently good person who puts other people's needs in front of her own. Which is something Tyra will never understand
It is a horrible message to send young women that they need to tolerate being manhandled to be successful. And that hand on the throat would have gotten him punched in the throat. Just no.
Yeah. Every time I see scenes from this show, I'm like... yikes, I really watched this as a kid and as a teen and thought that this was okay. This show is so full of sexism and racism and the contestants get treated so badly 😔😔
@@pinsandneedles3 Even better. I was confused about things like these, because I didn't think this was okay and would try to talk with other people about it. Young and unsure as I was I was being talked into believing that this is "real" life und you need to tolerate this. I really don't know why people tried to defend it.
Tiffany correctly identified that this entire show is about humiliating these women and not about learning about modeling and Tyra was mad that someone pointed it out.
The worst part about this is that they didn’t even consider the trauma some of the girls might have experienced in their past, such as sexual assault, rape, molestation, etc. Like, this photo shoot could have been really triggering for some of them. Also, some of them might have a learning disability or lack of education due to their economic status. Like, wtf?
That was the issue I had with the "reading" thing. Tiffany seemed to REALLY REALLY struggle with reading the words and they did not give a damn about that. Of course she is going to shut down when forced to read words off a teleprompter at a moments notice. Wtf....these are young women they're taking from disadvantaged situations. I'm really angry.
There was a girl in a later season (Kayla I think?) that had been assaulted and expressed to Jay that she was uncomfortable shooting with a male model and they STILL made her do it.
Tyra literally said "you went through anger management" maybe that's why she's not crying! Because she's been taught the skills to de-escalate her emotions!
I just realise how toxic Tyra, the judges and other professionals were in this show.. they were only trying to make things dramatic just to make it "exciting"
Anyone remember in the Pool Photoshoot episode when that model got hypothermia, Tyra was all about "a model should listen to herself, know her limits, and remove herself from the situation." Tiffany just tried to do exactly that. And she got screamed at and degraded for it.
Any time the models realistically mess up or end up hurt from the photoshoots, they always say "a model should be this" and "a model should be that" telling them to literally risk their lives but then going back and being like "know when to take yourself out" or "know your limits." Like a double standard.
Oh they always did that BS. The would tell the girls that you need to listen to you body, or speak up if you're uncomfortable. Then when they did just that they called unprofessional or told that a real model sucks it up and solders on blah, blah.
exactlyy, like in that episode where a model was uncomfortable with the behaviour of a male model posing with her, she said pretty clear that she was uncomfortable with him and they just ignored her and told her to be professional. wtf
It is funny that they say things like “a model should speak up and know her limits”. But they will also turn around and tell them things like being sick shouldn’t affect your photo shoot or being tired or being uncomfortable. It’s a damned if you do or damned if you don’t kind if thing.
Yeah but remember back in the day it was a lot more "cut" throat. We didn't have Instagram and UA-cam and all these other things to bloat ourselves. Yes we did have MYSPACE ...
@ghostprincesss6 Tyra went from saying she was rooting for Tiffany to completing ranting about her own self and childhood with her mother yelling at her lol.
What's worse is, Tyra yelling went on longer and was even worse than what we saw. Apparently, Tyra made this proclamation: "Tiffany revealed in a BuzzFeed interview in 2017 that Tyra's rant at her was longer and worse than what was shown, including "You can go back to your house and sleep on your mattress on the floor with your baby!" as well as, "there's no girl I regret casting more than you."
I once had a teacher snap and scold me because I didn't feel bad during the death and funeral scene in The Fault in Our Stars. My apathy was "disrespectful." I'm Mexcian, and we're conditioned since birth to see death as a natural part of the cycle.
Went through something similar. Made a mistake at work, the work snitch ran to the boss, I was punished like a child and my boss refused to let me come into work the next day. A weekend later after not begging and not reacting to my boss’s text telling me I’m being punished I was fired. Toxic work environments are the worst.
It kind of seems like when a narcissist does something specifically to get a reaction out of someone, to hurt them. And then it doesn't work. So they flip out at the person because they feel stupid
Yup, Ive read a little about narcissistic abuse (mostly in the context of romantic relationships and parents), and this feels VERY suspiciously similar. Also Tyra seems to align suspiciously close with he symptoms of NPD...... this show was literally glorifying and normalizing emotional abuse to adolescent girls....
My grandma has NPD and yes, I've witnessed that behavior just like that towards my mom. Thankfully she kept it tamer with me but she still tried. If you give them any traction, anything to hold on to -they use it. But it's less about actually hurting the person and more about making them dependant on the narc. If you need them then you'll do whatever you can to please them (meaning they get what they want, when they want). Often what they want is to be adored, to be needed (when it's convenient for them).
@@Twichl It can also be to hurt them, I know when my father got upset he would do anything and everything to caused me to be upset as well and keep me in the room so he could verbally assault me to make himself feel better. You would mock me for trying not to lose my temper, try to leave, issue "consequences" if I tried to act in anyway that makes him look bad. Ever He fits the personality of a narcissist to a T And when he got angry all he ever wanted to do was hurt the person in front of he, he said some pretty awful things. I think it's more out of a reaction of losing that control that they need to feel safe that they lose their composure like that. I think that's what happened with Tyra.
I feel like they edited it to make Tyra look like she cared and was in the right. Because in reality she wanted Tiffany to beg her and kiss up to her so she’d stay. She even told her “go home and sleep on the floor with your baby” but they cut it out
@@clairewillow6475 exactly, because one of them finally confronted her with the truth, none of them had the guts to do so. Those "challenges" they came up with were solely to humiliate the contestants and "entertain" the public. This show had little to nothing to do with modelling.
@@halvedemi Yes exactly, this show was never really about them finding the next big supermodels, they are just exploiting them for entertainment on reality TV. Only very few contestants made it out to be successful models.
As a grown adult in a professional situation, you should NEVER accept this kind of behavior. If someone is losing it on you and screaming at you "because they care", get out as fast as you can.
The way Tyra screeched at the girl made me think if Tyra was allowed to get physical she would. I honestly got scared for the girl and how they treated her. This type of behavior is honestly unprofessional, unacceptable, and is abuse towards others.
Okay I just noticed this. Tyra talks about how the model has taken anger management classes but then gets mad that she didn’t get upset/angry that she’s being kicked off. Isn’t that literally what her anger management classes advise against, lashing out suddenly like that?
tyra was mad that she couldnt upset the girl with anger issues to boost up ratings for her show naturally, so she had to take matters into her own hands.
And why tf did she have to bring up Tiffany's grandmother? That's so gross, using someone she cared for to make her feel bad about a stupid and unfair competition.

according to tiffany herself and other contestants, the worst parts were even cut out from tyra's tirade. one of the things that were cut was something along the lines of "you go back to your house and sleep on a mattress on the floor with your baby", which is honestly so sick. edit: if you google "tiffany richardson buzzfeed" you'll probably find the article where tiffany gives an interview about her experience.
Though I read too somewhere that Tyra helped her with money or something, I hope Tyra genuinely wanted to help her but I sort of suspect that shw must have felt guilty or worried about bad publicity after all that jelling.
The reason Tyra was pissed is because this girl could have won a ton of money and a well paid career managed by Tyra, but the model quit like it was some McDonald's job. Going home to what? Gonna take care of her kid, how? Quitters get nowhere! Ever! They depend on others until they learn to try... By not even trying is why she was eliminated. Not by failing... But by not trying. Waste of talent.
In all honesty I feel like Tyra yelled at her because Tiffany figured out this was just for ratings and got sick of it and wanted to leave. I liked Tiffany.
@@CherryBlossomBlyue well she did not say exactly that but it is what she meant, I should know I watched the season. But apparently some other people do not seem to understand that.
The more I found out about how much harder the girls careers became due to ANTM the more I'm glad Tiffany refused to play anymore of the show's abusive BS Fear Factor games. Her photo was great tho and I do wish she had continued to model except with staff that respected basic human decency but I get why she left that world after all this.
Tiffany: *doesn't cry* Tyra: HOW DARE YOU NOT HAVE A MENTAL BREAKDOWN RIGHT INFRONT OF ME IN NATIONAL TELEVISION! HOW DARE YOU, LEARN SOMETHING FROM THIS!
Right. Like c'mon leave the girl a little bit of herself. I had a boss at a summer job like that. Why didn't I just cried and have a meltdown in front of her while she was criticizing me... She even questioned if I was human. Like some people feel deeply about not crying in front of others!!!

After watching this and your other commentaries on the show I finally realized it was never about modelling and learning to model. Instead all the photoshoots and challenges were about humiliating the participants and creating drama. No wonder so few have actually become top models. as an actor who has used teleprompters for assignments in my acting classes, you usually don't read cold. even in auditions you usually get the script at least 24 hours beforehand so you have time to rehearse and look up words that you don't know. they just wanted something to make fun of the girls for.
@@Throatzillaaa Even without context it didn't mean anything. The french word "chartreuse" is even difficult for french to say, and is never used like whaaat. And what they wrote in french wasn't correct too, in their sentences.
Yeah, they did that to get some humiliation footage. It actually could have been a good learning experience if Tyra had gone to their house and told them how models work with a lot of European brands with names they might not be used to pronouncing, and how important it is to be prepared. Instead they just threw them out there unprepared. Sad 😞
Rebecca Epley said that the worst part of that rant wasn’t even aired: Tyra got really needlessly personal and said to Tiffany “you can go home and sleep on the floor with your baby” Like she shamed her about being dirt poor. I actually manage to transcend anger and I just feel sad

Back then it was difficult to Model when you signed up for this show. They couldn't go to other agencies if they were picked for this show. Not only that. She openly told them they were humiliating them more and more every day. She openly said they were being bullied. She was an example to the rest. Bow your head and kiss our asses or you'll leave no matter how good you are.
Her first reasoning for letting her go was that she didn't have enough self respect? I thought that's exactly what she showed when she pointed out how humiliating this whole thing is. What Tyra probably meant was that she didn't have enough respect for Tyra.
Apparently she got really personal in the unedited clip. She started talking about how she can go home to her grandma and sleep on a mattress on the floor it was really fucked up
Honestly, it just seems like Tiffany had a bad mental health day, struggled to perform, and then decided that she was finally 'over it'. Like, she's literally crying--it's not her being rude or disrespectful. I remember looking up to Tyra so much as a kid, but now that I'm older I completely understand why Tiffany reacted the way she did, and all of the other "drama-queens" too.
I feel like it's worth mentioning that it had also been established that Tiffany came from a rough background, and that she particularly struggled in school. So being forced to read something like that out loud under 'test' conditions was likely particularly difficult and stressful for her (not because she couldn't read, but because of the test-like circumstances and the pressure she was being put under).
i remember looking up to tyra and this show when i was younger too. now that im older i also agree i am so disappointed in her and the show so much. i feel so bad for these women
This reminds me of the narcissist who got angry when I got fed up with his behavior and called him out for his bull. It’s about not playing the game and setting boundaries when you are pushed beyond what you can do and Tyra getting upset about getting called out.
Everyone is nuts in this comment thread. I see why you watch these videos. Heaven forbid someone feel uncomfortable. Do you think that everyone who goes around giving speeches was comfortable with that from the first time? Of course not. But how did they get comfortable with it? They had to go outside of their comfort zone and do something that scared them. They had to risk failure in order to eventually succeed. They probably had "bad mental health days" along the way, but they still had to overcome that in order to do their job. When I am feeling run down, depressed, or anxious, I don't get to just stay home from work or tell my kids to take care of themselves. No, I have to *overcome* those things and do what needs to be done, even if it makes me uncomfortable. Heaven forbid anyone be uncomfortable in 2020. What a travesty. People need to grow up. Life isn't easy. You are going to have to do things that make you uncomfortable. When I first graduated from nursing school, I was a nervous wreck every day that I went to work. It was scary having people's lives in my hands. Eventually you learn and get used to the pressure you are under. If you never bother to get past the nervous part, how will you ever succeed? I don't see how anyone succeeds with the kind of attitude on display in this comments section. To think that you should never have to do anything that makes you a little uncomfortable is insane. Just stay home and be nothing if you feel that way. Hope you have someone else to take care of you.
“I’m not trying to break down for you and anybody else” - that’s called integrity. When Tiffany said she’s been through stuff, I believe her. She’s known the dark side of people and said it how it is - they’re humiliating them every week for ratings in pretense of helping them become a model. They force women to relive trauma, expose intimate details about themselves, and betray their values and personal autonomy all for the name of fashion? If this is the reality of the fashion industry, then Tyra should be trying to change it instead of perpetrating that mechanism.
As someone with a reading disability, that hurt. I had flashbacks to ignorant teachers pressuring me to read aloud and sneering at me. Even if you don't have a reading disability some people just don't like or are able to read aloud.
I always got physically uncomfortable for those kids and would volunteer to read aloud for them even with my horrible anxiety. I never understood why teachers would force them to struggle in front of everyone.
Besides the learning disability or limited vocabulary, there could also be girls that grew up in a multilingual household, I was reading some of the colors and vocab in my head with either a French or Spanish pronunciation (which some girls also did) and the judges laughed with a pronunciation that was correct? But they might not know how the “borrowed” English pronunciation sounds, like...that script is hard as hell to read without any preparation
Tiffany actually had the best picture lol. And she wasn't even being rude when she was saying bye to the others. She was telling them to cheer up and that pissed Tyra off?? :)
What’s insane to me is how much my perspective has changed from when I watched it as a child and teen, to now as an adult. In most of these videos I do see that these models were treated in inhumane ways and Tyra appears to be obsessed and overcome with her power over them to a disturbing degree. It’s just crazy how seriously she took herself and the show to the detriment of these girls
They didn’t even talk boundaries beforehand? Like, I have a phobia of people touching my neck, and the way he just grabs Tiffany’s neck with no hesitation or warning or anything is super uncomfortable. If he grabbed my neck, no warning, I’d scream the place down 😬 you don’t want to risk pushing someone’s boundaries. What if a model has trauma and can’t deal with aggression or certain body parts being grabbed in a rough manner.
@@moonbunnygw8342 there was a girl Kayla who was forced to kiss a male model even though it was a trigger for her because she had been sexually abused as a kid.
They’re effectively “cat calling” the models from the booth which makes it more uncomfortable and cringe. And there’s no need for them to be moving fast. When I shoot with men, the male models ask me a head of time what’s absolutely not okay for them to do or touch, and we establish poses we want to get a head of time so it’s smooth and you can mentally prepare.
@@addie-eileenpaige6460 ANTM seem to enjoy throwing the girls in the deep end , they always set them up and make them uncomfortable one way or another . It's really unfair.
I'm a former English Lit. teacher, and reading out loud is a completely separate skill from reading silently. I never made kids read out loud who didn't want to. It has nothing to do with intelligence. Not to mention it is an extremely difficult task for someone with dyslexia or a learning disability. Especially since the words were lighting up and scrolling through, forcing the girls to read faster. The speed plus nerves can make anyone mispronounce words they would otherwise know. It was a low move to humiliate the girls.
THIS!!!! Tiffany could easily have a learning disability she doesn't want the world to know about. Maybe she can't read? It won't be the first time the American school to prison system failed a POC. And maybe she can read excellently but can't read aloud. None of these are reasons to mock her. All are reasons to help and educate.
Yeah I was thinking Tiffani might have dyslexia. I have several friends who struggle with it and they read in a similar way. (Seeing several letters and kind of filling in the blanks with a word that is kind of similar.) In which case this poor girl is being further abused for being neurodivergent. Gotta be proud of her for standing up for herself. F u ANTM.
That and another thing I don’t see anyone bring up, what if she needed glasses and just didn’t know? I remember feeling stupid in grade 6 (I’m in my 20s now) that I felt like I couldn’t read the teachers writing when I felt everyone could. I JUST COULDNT SEE!! and didn’t know until I traded glasses with someone else, saw it was way more crystal clear and thought….oh my god? Stacey do you normally see bricks and their lines further away? “Yeah” so maybe the teleprompter was just past their visions capabilities who really knows Anyway Appreciate your approach as a teacher, thank you
Also we know those colors but how many of us have actually seen them written or wrote them ourselves. I know the color magenta and chartreuse but I’ve never seen them written. If those popped up on a screen for me to read like they did for these girls in this situation I wouldn’t have pronounced them correct either.
Fun note from early in the video, but the show pushes the girls to be good actors and emphasises being a good actor in shoots, when Tyra railed against actresses and being “actressy” at some points of the show and seemed to HATE models turned actresses, when she literally tried to become a model turned actress when her modeling work started to dry up. I rly think Tyra hates girls who can do what she can’t.
Tyra also seems to cut down people she perceives as a threat. Part of it is the industry saying there can only be one black supermodel but the other part is all Tyra. I can't believe that such a cruel rant was edited to make tyra look good and has become a celebrated meme.
Literally when you look her up it says American Television Personality lol and if you look up her “rival” Naomi, it says Model. She couldn’t make it as a model and this show gives her an opportunity to treat new models how she thought she was treated by Naomi. It’s all toxic and sick.
It was really toxic... her saying that if Tyra yells at you, that you are cared for or loved, Tyra only wanted to scream at her because she didn't show emotion, she wanted to put her down
Tyra was mad because she didn't see the contestants putting on a show for the audience. - Tiffany took rejection like a role model, but not as an entertainment arc, and that directly cuts into Tyra's profits.
I kind of have a feeling she was obligated/convinced to say that. That was wrong in so many levels, I think Tiffany knew that but what could've she said. If she would've said something negative they probably wouldn't have aired it, she was probably under a contract.
@@zairnermuller4960 Well you're actually right. After the elimination, Tiffany and Rebecca went back to the model house, Tiffany broke down and cried because of what Tyra said to her. Tiffany said in an interview years later that the yelling was much worse than what was shown and Tyra said nasty and terrible stuffs that literally insulted and hurt her, but it was cut and wasn't aired. Tiffany denied to give a final speech before packing her bags and went directly to the other house where the eliminated models were living (fun fact: despite being eliminated, none of them was actually "go home" like Tyra said, they moved to another house for the eliminated models). Later the producers came to her and convinced her to say such speech during her final interview, that's explained why she wore a different outfit during that last interview on the show. They fed her to say it to made Tyra a good person. I used to respect Tyra a lot when I was little but now I lost all of it when I watching back ANTM.
I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but if anything it's an amazing thing that Tiffany had that reaction, instead of reverting back to her old state of mind and letting her emotions control her. Tyra said it herself that Tiffany went through anger management, so I assume Tiffany learnt and developed techniques that helped her keep her emotions in check, and it's so amazing that she ended up having this frame of mind in front of the cameras, the judges, Tyra and the other girls. Tyra should be applauding Tiffany for not letting her anger, frustrations or disappointment get the best of her, but she's obviously not because I reckon Tyra wanted Tiffany to explode or have some kind of meltdown. Anything for the show. Tyra should be ashamed, and Tiffany should be proud of herself.
i stop listening when someone says "you have no idea what i've been through". no i don't and i'm not interested in knowing, we're talking about what i'm going through right now and you're trying to invalidate it, that's no way to treat someone.
It was also really disgusting and classist of Tyra because Tiffany has come from MUCH more humble circumstances than Tyra. Tyra literally told Tiffany she can go sleep on a mattress on the floor with her baby.... I would have loved to smack the stupid out of Tyra...actually I would have loved if Tiffany could have slapped the stupid out of Tyra. That scene was so gross and exploitative.
they piss me off so much. they literally criticise these models for bad angles, bad lighting on their faces, hair, make-up, expression, but... it's not their job?? they're not in charge of their make-up or hair? Sure, they need to have good expressions and remember how to pose, but it's only a part of their jobs. The photographer should give them directions and guidance to make sure he gets the angle and pose he wants! and there are stylists who should fix their hairs. there are make-up artists who do the MAKE-UP. they should stop acting like everything is model's fault ffs
As Tyra pointed out here and many times on the show, it's the models job to know where the lights are and make sure she is getting the right parts of her body in the light. So yeah, they are in control of that. If these girls knew the light was off to their left, then they should have made sure to keep their bodies turned in that direction so their faces didn't end up in shadow. The part they didn't have control over was which photo was selected at the end. It would have been nice on the show if they selected more pictures to show the audience so we could feel like it really was their best photo. Otherwise it could feel like they weren't always actually picking the best. Would have been good transparency for the show.
@@Karamarika As I said, it's a part of their jobs. But models don't see everything, they don't see if their hair got messy on the side, or their make-up looks awful in the particular light, and they can't always control the light on their faces especially if they're in motion while taking pictures and the only direction they get is ''fave fun''. If these girls knew the light was off to their left, then they should have made sure to keep their bodies turned in that direction so their faces didn't end up in shadow. '' that's the point - if they knew. They didn't get any direction or advice, it's only after the photoshoot they find out that ''your photo was bad''. It's photographer's job to tell them ''listen, turn your body to that side, because the light is quite off. Also please lift your hand higher'' etc. They're not professional models, so they need directions. Perhaps a professional model knows well after gaining experience. I agree with you saying they should show more than one photo. I feel they intentionally take not their best, but one of their worst photos to roast them.
@@Karamarika while they do have to be aware of their setup, tyra also hasn’t taught them how to do that. a lot of these girls are new to modeling, and what would really benefit them would be to do walking and posing workshops, and show them how to find their light during the shoot. but instead, they insult and scold the girls for not knowing how to model while they haven’t been shown how to do so.
I'm a writer working in marketing and I've directed lots of voice-over recording sessions. If there is ever a weird word in the script, especially brand names or foreign words that may be difficult to pronounce, you provide a phonetic pronunciation guide and/or go over those words with the actor before recording. They obviously stuffed that script with difficult names and words, then asked the girls to read it cold, then told them they couldn't read - first setting them up to fail, and then verbally reinforcing the "dumb model" stereotype. They were absolutely trying to humiliate the girls; Tiffany's instincts were correct. Also, based on the mistakes some of the girls made, it's possible they were dyslexic, which makes the whole situation all the more cruel. This show is a giant dumpster of psychological manipulation.
I was looking for this comment! Thought the exact same thing wow that's ridiculous just yeah yikes just because she was treated like that doesn't give her the right to do the same I mean it's up to her to break the cycle...
This whole show is just Tyra and the producers playing with the models like dolls forcing them to do whatever and whenever they get uncomfortable they gaslight them the thing is they are humans not just models they can have opinions and this entire show just pushes forward that 1. Models are not humans they are dolls we can just pose and if they are uncomfortable than suck it up 2. That women will do anything that they dont have opinions Btw I know there have been seasons with guys or all guy shoots but rn I’m talking about the girls In conclusion this show is disgusting and everyone behind the scenes (ie. Tyra, judges, and crew) should all be held accountable
Hey a bit random but plz repent of your sins and give your life to Christ. Jesus loves you so much and He died on the cross for you so that you may be with the Father and have eternal life with Him! God bless!❤ q
I'm honestly so surprised tyra is not canceled. I am so angry at her, giiiirl. And she didnt even apologize the way the girls deserve......what a shame
This show was filmed at a different time. ANTM would not fly today, it would be highly criticized. People are a bit more accepting of being different and having flaws. If Tyra had yelled at Tiffany in 2022, she would totally been called out on her verbal abuse.
It's horrible, looking back, and realizing I was basically watching these beautiful young women get tortured (both psychologically and physically) for the purposes of entertainment. My theory? Tyra lost her temper because Tiffani *called her out* every week Tyra WAS treating these girls worse and worse and Tyra had nothing in her arsenal to refute that. Tyra saw her own reflection and freaked out.
When we lost my grandfather, I didn't cry immediately. My brother didn't cry at all. That didn't mean we weren't sad or hurt or that we didn't miss him horribly. People process pain differently and sometimes crying isn't how people process it. This is so upsetting and I hate that she left thinking that Tyra cared
Sorry if this is 8 months later but I had to agree with you. When I lost my grandma, I didn't cry because I was in shock and only thought about the memories she gave me and not about what could have been. BUT when my cousin was born and thought about how sad it was that he didn't meet her, it broke me. People expect you, especially when you are woman, to deal with grieving in the same way. If you are not crying "like a woman" people judge you in such a negative way and refuse to understand that you a grieving in your own way and that it is not "suspicious."
I have to agree, iv had 2 grandparents pass and I didn’t cry for either with the exception of the funerals. Its not something I sea as that upsetting. Both had good long life I happy to leave it at that
Ok, not everyone cries, but did you guys start joking and saying "it's whatever" and "girl, you gotta stop that" when people came up to you while they cried? Because that's what Tiffany did, and that's what made her look like she didn't give a damn. Plenty of girls who were eliminated didn't cry, but they didn't behave like Tiffany, with a negative and dismissive attitude. Her poverty was well known in the show, her grandmother's sacrifice to get her there and she let her crappy reading skills stop her before she even tried (and she had a decent picture). If she was really "over it" and wanted to leave, she should have stepped up and said, "thanks for the opportunity, but this isn't for me". Instead, She was rolling her eyes while she was spoken to, made jokes, her whole attitude and body language spoke clearly. She dismissed and didn't appreciate the sadness of the other girls, who were sad watching her leave. Aside from Tyra's inappropriate comments, Tiffany was guilty of having a shitty attitude, lack of determination, and being ungrateful to her family's efforts and to her housemates emotions at seeing her go. Just because Tyra was in the wrong, doesn't mean Tiffany was entirely innocent.
I know someone who has been through anger management, and one of the techniques you get taught is to compartmentalize what you’re feeling in the moment so you can deal with it in a healthy way when the time is right and it’s not lashing out. That’s probably what Tiffani was doing.
That's how I saw it! Like either they may have bad eye sight of can't read. Who wants to say that on national TV that they can't read properly? It's heartbreaking to watch. Did not enjoy that at all.
@@jennabeth6851 The whole segment didn't even make sense, they're models not reporters. It is really interesting to see how problematic this show is watching it as an adult vs. middle schooler. Tyra is just...wow terrible.
They know everything about the girls. There's a lot of forms and tests and interviews during the casting process. And they don't hesitate to milk everything you say to them for drama. See Laura from the short cycle. She has severe dyslexia and the teleprompter was suddenly on the fritz during her challenge.
For real, look at what she says to Tiffany. It implies that Tiffany has struggled financially and her family may have struggled to afford her a truly decent education. Not even touching on the racial divides in the US education systems.
"When my mother yells like this it's because she loves me" That sure sh*t is NOT love. That is abuse. Sounds like Tyra was gaslighted into believing she doesn't deserve to be treated with kindness or respect, and now she's doing the same to these poor young women. Hurt people just hurt people.
Realizing my mom was verbally abusive to me growing up blew my brain, because she was such a loving and caring mom. TOO caring, because when she would get worried she would violate boundaries, become controlling, say really uncalled for things. I'm still learning unpack it. Tyra need to get into therapy and be removed from the entertainment industry. She can go live in her mansion and work through her stuff while leaving young vulnerable people ALL the way alone.
Abuse? Yelling? I think it’s a bit more nuanced than that are that you’re generalizing everything as abuse now. What Tyra did HERE tho could be interpreted as abusive tho due to the words she chose and the hostility.
Srsly that was a bit triggering when Tyra was suddenly trying to talk over her and be like “be quiet!” And saying “what is wrong with you?” Like Tyra maybe let her finish what she was saying. That cutting her off like that was ooof
As soon as Tyra even began to raise her voice, I would have turned and walk out. Girl, BYE! She has no right to assume she knew how Tiffany was feeling. 😤
@tpelis I would’ve yelled at her back. Tyra had to right to speak to someone like that. She’s so childish and rude. Her show should’ve been canceled after that.
I think Tyra’s issue with Tiffany was that Tyra and the judges wheeled the power to embarrass the girls and Tiffany refused to openly embarrass herself. Also, Tiffany had been through a lot worst in life then being kicked off a modeling show.
Tyra is an abuser. She was called out on Twitter a few months ago and she literally just said "ahah yeah I did some mad stuff back then... anyways xoxo"
tyra was probably abused herself and doesn't know she's been mistreated, tricked into thinking it was necessary for her to be where she is now. and now she projects it at other people definitely not justifying her actions, she's still whack. but you know.... maybe :o
That poor girl. It seemed like she was having trouble reading the words. As someone that wears glasses, I feel for them. Kudos to Tiffany for saying what all the girls were probably thinking!
Rewatching this makes me realize just how toxic that freaking was. So, Tyra was testing them to see if she broke them enough, and Tyra laughed the entire time they read. That is bully behavior, and everyone remembers this bc it’s like a mom yelling at you like a damn child. I think the model deserved better
Tyra tells her to find some self esteem, huh? If she didn’t have any self-esteem she wouldn’t be standing up to her. The girl knows her worth and knew not to take any bs from Tyra. That’s more self-esteem and self worth than any of those other girls have, allowing themselves to be abused by the crew.
The young model was demoralized, not just disappointed. Tyra is a Tyrant and should honestly be excluded from any modelling agency since she decided being toxic was more productive than being supportive.
As someone who is a sexual assault survivor, has a fear of men and anxiety, I completely understand the girls not wanting to do the shoot. And when it comes to reading off the teleprompter I would have failed at that too. I have dyslexia, which makes it hard to read in general, let alone when it’s on a screen and THAT FAR AWAY. I could never.
I'm sorry for what you had to experience and hope your healing. That said, i was not assaulted or anything like that and i would refuse to do this as well. And it's not like they woukd have to do this in real life because this type of photo shoot is discussed beforehand and the models know each other and are comfortable with each other for this type of work. They did this to put the girls on the spot. Some of them most likely were abused and the producers knew it and were hoping for some tears and some morbid background story to broadcast. The girls didn't give them that so second best thing: tyra going batshit crazy over a girl not accepting being stomp over.
There was a British modeling show (i dont remember its name) where Naomi was a judge and mentor and she was equally as toxic as Tyra. She bullied the models and other judges/mentors and she played dirty. So they both deserve each other.
Daaaam I admire Tiffany!!!! The way she handle the screams without crying!!! How I wish I had the same strength! It’s very difficult not to cry in certain situations and I hate when it happens. But Tiffany did great!!! 👏🏻
Right? As I review the tv I watch when I was a girl it makes me realize why I was so blind to toxicity and abuse in my own personal life. It was normalized everywhere back then!
Yeah I wonder if it was in her contract to say nice things about Tyra, and that she was to be legally held accountable if she deviated from that, or something like that...
Exactly. What she says while packing up really shows how she felt. I love her for saying it boldly and standing up to Tyra in front of all those people!
The last part was shot several days later, at a hotel the contestants had to stay at after they got voted off, right after Tyra and her mom visited Tiffany. Tiffany said in an interview that it felt manipulative bc Tyra knew how much the girls liked her mom (they had met her on set before) and she reminded Tiffany of her grandma, which I'm guessing Tyra also knew. So Tyra basically dropped by Tiffany's hotel room to manipulate her so that they could get a clip of her saying something nice about Tyra.
I remember watching this episode when it first came out, and even then ( as a child) something didn't sit right with me about it. Tiffany seems like she wanted to keep it positive as she leaves and tyra wanted violence for ratings
This is why I hated this show growing up, this show was literally an excuse for Tyra and the rest of the film industry to bully these poor girls and push them past their breaking points. This show was always 100% abusive to these girls , I hope all of them are doing much better today. Also the part with the reading wtf that wasn’t for fun that was to make the girls feel insecure , not everyone had a great education not everyone has English as a first language. Some people struggle because they have dislexia and not everyone has 20/20 vision. That bit had absolutely nothing to do with modeling , and that one girl “so none of you can read” oh heck no honey I woulda lost it there.
I think we miss the purpose of this show. It was never about the modeling contract. It’s a reality show like any other. They want to see the pain, uncomfortability, the fear; seeing how far these girls will let these people take them. The more controversy, the higher the ratings.
@@wildsagediary1109 Don’t get me wrong I never missed the point of the show , which is why reality tv in general is just a heap of money grubbing garbage , of course they didn’t care about the modeling , that’s clear in the piss poor efforts they put in with the photography/makeup and these poor models still ended up making some good work out of it through sheer will and talent alone, so good on them for making the best of an ugly situation , but high ratings doesn’t excuse Tyra’s projection of power and abuse onto these girls, just because you got treated like crap does not mean you do the same thing to the newer models, rather than trying to “toughen up” these girls she should have been more focused on nurturing and helping them carve a new way into the modeling career , in the end she did reach out and do good things for some of them but that doesn’t excuse the 26 seasons of torture these women forced themselves through because at the time they felt they had no other choice but to suck it up and deal with it , just by listening to some post interviews of these girls, she’s caused lasting damage, and one little apology or good deed here or there won’t heal that damage for some of them. I’m not trying to demonize Tyra, she’s human too, she’s very clearly suffered too and I hope she got the help she needed to grow from this as well, but at the same time her past behaviors aren’t something to sweep under the rug, she’s damaged real breathing humans due to her own issues. “ Guys it’s just reality tv it’s all scripted “ is not always the true case, real people get hurt through these dumb shows , heck even “fans” will start attacking them. I think people fail to realize the damage this garbage does. Also to be clear I’m not attacking you or intending to insult you in any way , if you feel that’s the case I apologize those aren’t my intentions, it’s just that reality tv really irks me to no end in back which is why I refuse to watch it , not that you care to hear all that , I honestly don’t know how I even ended up watching this review and going on a rant on UA-cam to be perfectly honest. So sorry in advanced like I said I’m not taking this out on you I’m just trying to express my frustration with reality tv and the fact that it still somehow exits in today’s society , in the end my opinion isn’t worth 2 dimes and agree or disagree with it that’s your right to have I just needed a good vent I guess , so thanks for reading if you did , I tend to ramble, you know anxiety and all that Jazz
@@AngelicDemonsSin No worries! I am no way excusing her behavior but that doesn’t mean I don’t understand it. Which was what I was expressing. It was more of a random thought I expressed on your comment rather than a direct response to what you said. Sorry lol 😅
Anger and tears make people uncomfortable, so a lot of people learn to cover hurt with laughter/jokes. It's how a lot of comedians were born. I didn't see Tiffany as being flippant. I saw her as masking pain in a way more acceptable to others. This is probably a learned behavior for her.
Nah, the older contestants have opened up their experience on the show these days. So, the show will not coming back because Tyra keeps getting cancelled.
I remember my sister and I were having a WTF moment when we watched this episode all those years ago. Tiffany was trying to lighten the situation as she’s leaving, the girls were very emotional. HOW DARE YOU TYRA! You are ALWAYS the victim Tyra, in every episode.🙄❤
The worst part of this episode was when Tyra justified her abusive language toward these women by saying "When my mother yells at me like this it's because she loves me" and I think that's very telling of the real Tyra Banks.
I don't know this girl's story, that I'm dyslexic so if someone tried to make me read that in front of a bunch of Judges I would just say no. I don't need to be humiliated trying to pronounce things like that. It would bring me all the way back to elementary and how I was bullied because I had trouble reading. And then with the way Tyra reacted, yeah I don't need to be demeaned just for a reality TV show. Poor girl
It seemed like she was just done with the judges breaking her down all the time. She didn't have a very good life before the show and, from what I've heard, the judges would do just about anything to make some of the girls feel bad about themselves. I think they chose to pick on Tiffany because of her "attitude" but she was 100% justified in just being over it. Idk if she modeled afterwards but I think she'd have an amazing career if she did because she's absolutely gorgeous and took some bomb pictures
I am also dyslexic I’ve had the same experiences I would’ve said no too, this is so sad and disrespectful that they shamed the girls for mispronounced words that were one far away and two some in a completely different language, like you said you never know what someone is going through or their story.
When I first saw this episode as a teenager, I was on Tyra's side, but now, watching this episode back years later, I'm definitely on Tiffany's side. I hope she has all the happiness in the world.
The irony is that Tiffany is the one that showed the most amount of self respect by standing up the way she did. That Tyra female just seems like she wanted to control her emotions and was butt hurt that she couldn't.
Couldn't agree more! That whole "I'm angry because I care about you" & "Her yelling shows she cares" especially, is literally no different to an abusive relationship where they confuse abusive possessive and controlling behavior as an act of love.
I think if I'd been 18/19 and engaged, I would have struggled because my concept of intimacy/closeness/etc. we're very different when I was younger. As an older, sexually confident woman, I'd rock that photoshoot.
Tyra reminded me of a parent when a child tries to defend themselves when they're yelling at them. Telling her to be quiet and then just cutting her off by yelling. I really think her behavior is out of line a lot.
The whole shouting thing is pretty much just because Tiffany didn’t give Tyra the big over the top crying tv drama scenario so she created a whole new big over the top crying tv drama scenario instead. It was pathetic on Tyra part and COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL! Tiffany has been through angry management, she’s literally had classes to learnt to control her intense emotions, she knew there was no way to change the judges decision so she just learns to expect it and not dwell on it. Honestly Tyra’s mad because Tiffany isn’t a sore loser like herself. I’ve not done a huge amount of modelling but I can safely say the people I’ve worked with have NEVER EVER been so rude and aggressive, even when another girl is being a bit bratty or a diva, you just don’t shout at a model. It’s common sense.
Oh, so if a model says she is uncomfortable and feels humiliated in a shoot, she is rude and unprofessional? Tyra is so abusive
She tells them if ur uncomfortable you can say it blah blah blah but when it happens she be mad sis?
@@kanal74299 yeah i totally agree with u
@@kanal74299 that's why I dislike any contest tv shows. Because it's never about the contestants, it's only about jury(celebrities) and entertaining the audience at the expense of people who just want to achieve their dreams by humiliating and insulting them for anything
This show was terrible they made the girls feel bad for not being mindless drones or not just doing anything the multiple girls that where uncomfortable with nudity and sexual photos we made to feel bad I said it once this show was a ego trip for Tyra so she could degrade young up and coming models
yes she is unprofessional, this is a competition if they can't handle it then they should go home
She went through anger management and got screamed at for using those skills when she got eliminated. Tyra was clearly hoping for a breakdown for the ratings.
Omg I was looking for this comment! Exactly!
100%
She looked like she was about to take Tyra out.
painted her as an anger black woman
Love this, yes
She’s still a model
Perfectly said 👏The whole show seems to be throwing these ladies into scenario's that intimidate or humiliate them and then acting like they're wrong for questioning it..like your going to do the first photo shoot totally naked..we're going to chemically straighten your textured hair that you've been growing for years as an expression of pride in your heritage...we're gonna submerge you in water although you're terrified of drowning 🤬Then when you try to resist the abuse...we're gonna tell you youdint really want to be a model!
Perfect.
Gaslighting
@@makenziemurphy1435 That's not what I said. I said don't let anyone convince you they're screaming at you BECAUSE they love you. This is abuse and the mental health community will back that up.
@@makenziemurphy1435 Also there is a difference between yelling and screaming at the top of your lungs. It is never okay to scream at the top of your lungs and claim it is love. If you are doing this to someone or if someone is doing this to you, then you are in an abusive situation.
@@RachelStormborn Exactly.
@@moisi93894 That's what I thought too. I wonder if the producers behind the scenes were telling her to say those things
I thought so too and it really is abusive to tell someone that screaming in their face is love.
toxic person's words
love is never that aggresive
Ikr!! I hated that, Tyra is horrible, the show is horrible and I don't understand why are women still going to this abusive and toxic show 😭
She literally said "you went through anger management" while berating her for not being upset about being let off the show.
That's exactly what happened, I think.
On point
So true.
Ya that’s a fucked up double standard she created because she had the power
To be fair the era Tyra grew up in was where models were treated as the product. Even Naomi talks about models needing to get a hard skin cause back in the day they would be very mean to “useless models”. Now there’s a change

I wonder how long it took ABC to realize, “Oh, shoot, we made a terrible mistake asking her to host Dancing with the Stars…”

Yes! Tyra was projecting
I want to watch Germany's version now.

Young and unsure as I was I was being talked into believing that this is "real" life und you need to tolerate this. I really don't know why people tried to defend it.
What did I miss?? Time stamp?
The industry does not care.
There was a girl in a later season (Kayla I think?) that had been assaulted and expressed to Jay that she was uncomfortable shooting with a male model and they STILL made her do it.

He fits the personality of a narcissist to a T

It's frankly unacceptable in literally any context. Children shouldn't even be getting yelled at like this.
Okay I just noticed this. Tyra talks about how the model has taken anger management classes but then gets mad that she didn’t get upset/angry that she’s being kicked off. Isn’t that literally what her anger management classes advise against, lashing out suddenly like that?
I think that those classes also teach people to not get emotionally riled up over things they can't change.

Jesus how was that not turned into an harassment case... Ridiculous
Holy hell that's insane she even said that!

The reason Tyra was pissed is because this girl could have won a ton of money and a well paid career managed by Tyra, but the model quit like it was some McDonald's job. Going home to what?
I looked up to Tyra too. But I don’t anymore
@Cosmic sudrrs Thanks!
I always got physically uncomfortable for those kids and would volunteer to read aloud for them even with my horrible anxiety. I never understood why teachers would force them to struggle in front of everyone.
My daughter has dislexia & I know how hurtful can be, That is way more serious that many people can imagine.
I love reading and can read really well but when I read out loud I sound illiterate.
Nah, tyra got pissy because the girl wasn't crying and begging to stay. Toxic Tyrant Tyra.
I believe there was a model who couldn't model with a guy or something like this because of trauma
@@moonbunnygw8342 there was a girl Kayla who was forced to kiss a male model even though it was a trigger for her because she had been sexually abused as a kid.
Yeah but tyra was beaten and even DIED and she still modeled & killed it so yeah

@@gabbyb9418 You win the comments.
And that is how it should be done. The way they treat the girls on this show is gross
She even said that female models who do pose with male models sign up for it ahead of time.
@@addie-eileenpaige6460 ANTM seem to enjoy throwing the girls in the deep end , they always set them up and make them uncomfortable one way or another . It's really unfair.
Tyra always made it seem like modeling was something you couldn’t prepare for at all you just had to be ready
A lot of those names were foreign, too. Unless you're a polyglot, who can expect those girls to pronounce those names correctly?
“Yeah” so maybe the teleprompter was just past their visions capabilities who really knows
Anyway Appreciate your approach as a teacher, thank you
Also we know those colors but how many of us have actually seen them written or wrote them ourselves.
Truth. Life Size anyone?
Tyra also seems to cut down people she perceives as a threat. Part of it is the industry saying there can only be one black supermodel but the other part is all Tyra. I can't believe that such a cruel rant was edited to make tyra look good and has become a celebrated meme.
Yasssss 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Literally when you look her up it says American Television Personality lol and if you look up her “rival” Naomi, it says Model.
She couldn’t make it as a model and this show gives her an opportunity to treat new models how she thought she was treated by Naomi. It’s all toxic and sick.
And she tried her hand at singing while having the ANTM in her video.. blah
I think the worst part is, she definitely didnt deserve to be yelled at.
Yep
PREACH.
Like is tyra know what she been through
It was also really disgusting and classist of Tyra because Tiffany has come from MUCH more humble circumstances than Tyra.
Definitely 100% agree(unrelated but hi Army💜💜💜).
This show is so fck up.....
(hobi 💜)
Her mother yelled at her like that to show love?? Well that explains A LOT!
I was looking for this comment! Thought the exact same thing wow that's ridiculous just yeah yikes just because she was treated like that doesn't give her the right to do the same I mean it's up to her to break the cycle...

"My mind just shut off." That's dissociating and means she was in distress, not just awkward.

That women will do anything that they dont have opinions
Btw I know there have been seasons with guys or all guy shoots but rn I’m talking about the girls
In conclusion this show is disgusting and everyone behind the scenes (ie. Tyra, judges, and crew) should all be held accountable

This show was filmed at a different time. ANTM would not fly today, it would be highly criticized. People are a bit more accepting of being different and having flaws. If Tyra had yelled at Tiffany in 2022, she would totally been called out on her verbal abuse.
@@rucianapollard7098 exactly!
This is so upsetting and I hate that she left thinking that Tyra cared
yup
Both had good long life I happy to leave it at that
I have to agree. At my granddads funeral I couldn't make myself cry even though everyone else was. It couldn't process.
They didn't even consider that some of the models could be dyslexic or that some didn't have access to quality education growing up.
Yeah as a person with really bad dyslexia I probably would have cried while reading that and I'm in grad school lmao
Ever heard of this thing called tough love
@@BonitaApplebum-br3pw humiliating you and making you feel worse about yourself? you call that love?
Srsly that was a bit triggering when Tyra was suddenly trying to talk over her and be like “be quiet!” And saying “what is wrong with you?” Like Tyra maybe let her finish what she was saying. That cutting her off like that was ooof
As soon as Tyra even began to raise her voice, I would have turned and walk out. Girl, BYE! She has no right to assume she knew how Tiffany was feeling. 😤
@tpelis
I would’ve yelled at her back.
Tiffany said in her Oliver Twixt interview that she didn't let the whole thing be a trauma for her. And that gives insight
Tyra is an abuser. She was called out on Twitter a few months ago and she literally just said "ahah yeah I did some mad stuff back then... anyways xoxo"
Wow 😳
tyra was probably abused herself and doesn't know she's been mistreated, tricked into thinking it was necessary for her to be where she is now. and now she projects it at other people
definitely not justifying her actions, she's still whack. but you know....
If I were Tiffany, when she said, “I wanna say one last thing to you” I’d have said “no, thank you” and walked away.
"when my mom yells at me like that it's because she loves me" is one of the most "I've been in an abusive relationship" sentences ever
Tyra being disappointed that Tiffany didn’t cry when she was eliminated kinda just proves that Tyra likes making girls cry 👀👀
The people in the back honestly cat calling the models while doing the shoot was so uncomfortable. Like, you don’t need to make those kind of comments
Seeing how problematic Tyra Banks was makes me so happy Naomi Campbell “killed” her career.
Wait, what happened with Naomi and Tyra?
There was a British modeling show (i dont remember its name) where Naomi was a judge and mentor and she was equally as toxic as Tyra. She bullied the models and other judges/mentors and she played dirty. So they both deserve each other.

Right? As I review the tv I watch when I was a girl it makes me realize why I was so blind to toxicity and abuse in my own personal life. It was normalized everywhere back then!
The last part where Tiffany was saying good things about Tyra seemed really staged tbh. What Tyra did wasn't a form of love it was pure gaslighting.

Years later Tiffany admitted she never really felt that Tyra cared and I believe her.
What Tiffany said about humiliated herself more and more each week is 100% true because ANTM loves to chase drama and humiliate the girls

The whole point of the show is seeing how much they can tear down someone's self confidence. How much they can humiliate the girls.
I read an article too where Tiffany says that there was a lot of mean things Tyra said to her as she was leaving that wasn’t ever aired
