Haven’t had very good luck with the winter smallies at lake Powell
Nice job bud.
I caught a 4 pound small mouth there during the summer
Nice work Dan!
TackleJunky81 thanks a ton for watching!
I love fishing there!
How is the bass fishing on that lake? I heard it's all about trout/salmon there?
What power of a rod do you like to use? I just moved out to the area on the Idaho side further north (I'm a lucky dog!), I'm going to build a dropshot rod but not sure if I should go for a 6'10" ML (1/16oz to 3/8oz) or a 7' M (1/8oz to 1/2oz). I'm assuming the unfortunate answer is "both", lol.
If I only had to choose one, I tend to go with the heavier setup because it’s more versatile. Optimally, the ML would probably be a
better dropshot rod, but the other could be a dropshot rod, as well as a possible tube/blade bait/shaker head performer as well. Just depends on what you want to do :)
dan, you gotta get down to dworshak!
derick mcclure yes I do, I went but it was much too warm. I saw your photo man, great work and congrats on your PB!
FHC Outdoors thanks. now is the time. they're still eating reaction. water is still in the 50s and they are FAT!
derick mcclure that's crazy! 50s still? How? Lol
FHC Outdoors That's what I said when we got on the water. and they were chewin! Crankbaits and swimbaits. I thought I was gonna ha e to drop shot or C-rig all day, but was pleasantly surprised when they were eating moving baits.
derick mcclure yeah that's awesome, nothing more fun than that haha! It reminds me of California, very unique for around here. Glad you guys got into the bigguns!
Well done Dan!
Thanks a lot Jake!!! Hope you and the family are doing good man!
Thanks Dan! great vid, going to have to hit the Columbia River and get some smallies.
Yes, I need to try and spend some more time down there next year for sure. Thanks Chad!
Awesome video Dan! I need a winter smallie this year!
FishingThePNW You'll get one you've been killing it :)
Have you launched your boat and camped overnight on the water?
Nice Finns!! When I saw the Address I was expecting Icebergs!! Where's the White Stuff!! Beautiful Country and H2O and it appears you have it all to yourself!! How Sweet is that!! Little bit warmer on the Florida Gulf Coast!!
Wes Lovelace Snow will be here this weekend! Wish it wasn't. I bet it's a bit warmer there lol. Thanks for commenting sir!
Nicely done. Drop shot really does the trick!
I almost pulled my boat out to head to Lake Cd'A, but I gone out with my buddy in his boat on the Twins on Black Friday and that Sunday.
Awesome fish man! loved the vid!
Thank you very much!
Do you think that these same techniques could work at Coeur d'Alene in mid-February so around this time of the year?
Bryce Powers you bet! Dropshot works year round. I would try to find bigger rock this time of year though!
FHC Outdoors awesome! Because rocks hold more heat? Thanks! Im just trying to figure out if the lake will be iced (parts of it) or not.
Bryce Powers Well water that deep is warmer than the top of the water column, and bass love structure. Put those two together and it's helps your odds!
Really appreciate it!
Good teaching. I have to do more drop shotting on CDA.
how big your boat boss?? my dads got a 6.1m...and hes got a 150hp on it.....yours is a 200hp....hmmm .....cheers
Where would you recommend launching at
Beautiful fish there.
How's the pike fishing down there?
ZaygonHD interesting
Huckleberry Rock Fishing and Outdoors ?
ZaygonHD you asked how the pike fishing was here in the CDA (Coeur d'Alene) area, and I said interesting.
Huckleberry Rock Fishing and Outdoors how's it interesting?
ZaygonHD if you aren't using steel leaders and you aren't going with a spinnerbait lure, it gets interesting because as soon as you cast in the water, pike have a habit of biting you off clean.
What bay were u in
Good vid man we need to get out to twins or cda sometime. 👍
Thanks Toby! I really need to fish Twin!
