Alex is brilliant as the Cowardly Lion! plus I was not really a fan of the Madagascar films since I've seen the Christmas caper short that was play before Wallace and Gromit the Curse of the Wererabbit back in 2005!
(Dandelion, Cooper, Crane and Litten are walking deep in the forest is dark. Dandelion felt nervous and scared upon hearing spooky noises.)
Dandelion: (Scared) I don't like this forest. It's dark and creepy.
Cooper: Of course, I don't know, but I think it'll get darker before it gets lighter. (Dandelion nods and turns to Crane)
Dandelion: Do... Do you suppose we'll meet any wild animals?
Crane: Mmm, we might. (Dandelion gasped)
Cooper: (Nervously) Animals that eat straw?
Crane: Uh, some but mostly lions and tigers and bears.
Dandelion: Lions!
Cooper: And tigers?
Crane: And bears!
Dandelion: (Gasps) Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my!
Dandelion, Crane, and Cooper: (Together and they march fearfully down the road) Lion and tigers and bears! Oh my! Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my! Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my!
(Cooper jumps back in fear upon hearing a lion roar. Dandelion Crane, and Cooper get scared as a lion with a circus-like collar approached them. His name was Stefano. He gets up on his feet and he growls at them as Cooper and Crane cower on the ground. Dandelion hides from behind the tree.)
Stefano: (Challenging Cooper and Crane) Put em up! Put em up! Which one of you first? I'll-a fight you both together if you want. I'll-a fight you with one paw tied behind my back! I'll-a fight standing on one foot! I'll-a fight with my eyes closed! (To Crane) Oh, pulling an axe on me? (To Cooper) Sneaking up on me? Why... (Growling at Crane)
Crane: Here, here. Go away and let us alone.
Stefano: Oh, scared, huh? Afraid huh? How long-a you stay fresh in that can? (Chuckling) Come on, get up and fight-a, you shivering junkyard. (To Cooper) Put your hands up, you-a lopsided bag of hay!
Cooper: Now that's getting personal, Mr. Lion.
Crane: Yeah, get up and teach him a lesson.
Cooper: What's wrong with you teaching him?
Crane: Well, I hardly know him. (Litten hisses and meows at Stefano)
Stefano: (To Litten) Well, I'll-a get you anyway, peewee!
(Stefano chases Litten which shocks Dandelion and she comes to his defense picking him up. As Stefano approached him trying to attack him Dandelion slapped Stefano in the nose.)
Dandelion: (Scolding) Shame on you!
Stefano: (Crying) What did you do that for? I didn't bite-a him.
Dandelion: No, but you tried to. But it's bad enough picking on a straw man but when you go around picking on poor little cats.
Stefano: Well, you didn't have to go and-a hit me, did you? Is-a my nose bleeding?
Dandelion: Well, of course not. (Stefano wipes his tears with his tail) My goodness, what a fuss you're making! Well, naturally when you go around picking on things weaker than you are. Why, you're nothing but a great big coward.
Stefano: You're right, I am a coward! I haven't had-a any courage at all. I even scare myself! Look at the circles under my eyes. I haven't slept in weeks.
Crane: Why don't you try counting sheep?
Stefano: That doesn't do any good. I'm afraid of them-a. (Sniffs and cries)
Cooper: Oh, that's too bad. (To Dandelion) Don't you think the Wizard could help him too?
Dandelion: I don't see why not. (To Stefano) Why don't you, come along with us? We're on our way to see the Wizard now. To get him a heart.
Crane: And him a brain.
Dandelion: I'm sure, he could give you some courage.
Stefano: Well-a, wouldn't you feel degraded to be seen in the company of a cowardly lion? I would.
Dandelion: No, of course not.
Stefano: My, that's-a awfully nice of you. My-a life has been simply unbearable.
Dandelion: (Wiping Stefano’s tears with her handkerchief) Oh. Well It's all right now. The Wizard will fix everything.
Stefano: It's been in me so long. I just have to tell you how I feel.
Dandelion: Well, come on!
Stefano: (Singing as they continue walking down the road with them) Yes, it's sad, Believe me missy. When you're born to be a sissy. Without-a the vim and verve. But I could show my prowess. Be a lion, not a mouse-a. If I only had the nerve. I'm afraid there's no denying. I'm just a dandy lion. A fate I don't deserve. I'd be brave-a as a blizzard.
Crane: (Singing) I'd be gentle as a lizard.
Cooper: I'd be clever as a gizzard.
Dandelion: (Singing) If the Wizard is a wizard, who will serve.
Cooper: (Singing) Then I'm sure to get a brain.
Crane: (Singing) A heart.
Dandelion: (Singing) A home.
Stefano: The nerve!
All: (Singing together) Oh, we're off to see the Wizard. The wonderful Wizard of Oz. We hear he is a whiz of a wiz. If ever a wiz there was. If ever, oh ever a wiz there was. The Wizard of Oz is one because. Because, because, because. Because, because. Because of the wonderful things he does. We're off to see the Wizard. The wonderful Wizard of Oz.
(Dandelion, Cooper, Crane, Stefano, and Litten continue their journey to the Emerald City.)
