A new book that just came out this year by Anishinaabe reporter Tanya Talaga called The Knowing which is the history of Canada as told through first people’s perspective might give you what you were looking for.
Ooeee. You got me intrigued about Rachel's Rokje! Because the unnatural-feeling language Dutch authors write in has definitely been my main reason for veering away from Dutch literature. But the simultaneous Winterson and Lispector comparison was frankly already enough. 😁
