This is a 62" Casablanca Avalon ceiling fan in the Bright Chrome finish, shown with a set B12-13 Avalon blades that feature Grey sailcloth and black rods. This fan features your standard 3-speed operation and Casablanca's XLP-2000 motor. The model number is 16555D and the serial number reads BG170615 which dates this fan to have been manufactured February 17th, 1997; the 615th fan produced that day.
While I acknowledge this fan is actually a Lady Delta with a set of Avalon accessory blades.. I'm still going to call it an Avalon because thats how most people recognize this fan and it’s the Avalon blades that are the real attention grabber here. Up until 1997, the Avalon was actually its own separate model which, as shown, was literally just a Lady Delta motor that included the set of sailcloth blades. Introduced in 1989, the Avalon was essentially the smaller, less expensive counterpart to Malibu Star which used a similar blade system. At its core, these blades are rather simple, rip-stop nylon fabric is strung in place using actual fiberglass fishing rods which are kept taut. The pitch of these blades can be adjusted by loosening the four screws on the bracket which will allow the bottom of the fishing pole to be removed or turned. For a while the Avalon blade sets were offered in a variety of fabric colors including Red, White, Blue, Grey, Green and Burgundy, which were complemented by either Black or White rods. In the early 2000's these finish options were reduced to only White, Black and Grey before the Avalon blade system was discontinued in the early 2010's.
Overall the fan moves decent air but obviously has more going for it aesthetically than performance. The fan is well made just as any other Casablanca from that time. I suppose the only flaw here is really how fragile these blades are. It's common to find these fans with broken blades since the fiberglass fishing rods are known to snap and break over time. Unfortunately it took until around the early/mid 2000's for Casablanca to get this right, using cast-metal rods that were molded to the curvature of the Avalon blade. Anyways, it's still an iconic design and benchmark of Casablanca's history.
