Nautel has been very helpful to engineers with their Webinars. Though not a broadcast engineer I have watched several with interest. I enjoy The Broadcast Engineer. 🙂

I haven't been in radio for almost 50 yrs but I still remember the small parts that I, a 3rd/endorsement license holder, had to do. Of course, most of it was logging, which was all on paper produced on a typewriter by the secretary. And we had to look at the amp/volt plate (yes, all tube) dials and log them on a set schedule. I think broadcasting was one of the best jobs/careers I ever had, but the money just wasn't there except for that handful of "superjocks" in big cities. I'm sure all of that stuff is computerized and automated now, just needing to be "scanned" by a human and then signed.

We have a FM tower here with 4 stations on one 550 foot tower & it causes bleed though on portions of Shortwave band & can also interfere with another FM station in another area if you with in one mile of the tower. There is one HD Radio station on that tower & I tried several radios including my OEM car radio. I reported it to the FCC & they don't seem to do anything & complained to the station owner & they wont fix it & they say its fine & it isn't. There is a new housing development 900 foot of the tower also & maybe could be a violation.

Thanks for all your videos and the lessons. Sentimental about losing the Santiago Feed.
Changing subject....do the 6Ghz point to point microwave users still use Analog ?
The BNSF railroad recently took down their 6Ghz link which ran LA cross country to Chicago.
    It was analog.
So....is there anyone left in the Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties still using Analog 6Ghz
    and their locations ?
    Thanks

Thanks for the kind words! I don’t think there’s any analog 6GHz microwave links out there. It’s all digital now.

@@TheBroadcastEngineer Thanks for the reply. Any particular digital format ?

@wes5150. Usually like QPSK or 16 QAM or the like.

@@TheBroadcastEngineer Thanks. I presume in order for a 6Ghz user to go digital he would not be able to use the Andrew Dish antenna but replace the antenna and new radio?

@wes5150. Are you referring to the old antennas that AT&T used to use? No those aren’t compliant anymore. There’s a frequency coordination required as well before you can get licensed for that band.

Do the regulations cite the self inspection checklist, or the guidebook?

    • @TheBroadcastEngineer
      @TheBroadcastEngineer  26 днів тому

Neither. Regulations are silent on both.

49 years in the business. There are MANY stations now not in compliance. It is shocking, and many don't care.

@q95oldies57 For some, it’s just a “cost of doing business.”
