magnificent restoration, kudos! do more. note for others puppetoons is not drawn animation, its stop motion like ray harryhausen work much later, using models. I like the 60 fps, but if purists was the old fps it can be done easily, but the cell restoration is the harder part. thank you! more puppetoons please!
Yikes..sorry to be rude but the ai is really distorting it. If you look closely at most any scene you can see that swirl and distorted look on the details that arent the main focus. Or ARE the main focus.
Why would you artificially increase the framerate of stop-motion (or any animation, for that matter)? The whole point is that each frame is specifically designed. Artificially enhancing the image is one thing, but why on _Earth_ would you increase the framerate.
only qualm I have is that it has the weird artifacts of AI in the motions. I think it'd be better to have it more accurately displayed as it would have been.
They use to show it between films when theaters showed double features. Also on early TV days there weren't a lot of shows so the programmers showed older movies. cartoons and serials. It was a great time for getting an education on the film world 😊
The audiovisual enhancement is great, but the frame interpolation makes it hard to appreciate the artistry of the tweened frames, as it becomes difficult to differentiate intentionally distorted shapes and motions that were intentionally crafted from the artificially added ones. I think this is a great experiment, and is marvelous to see applied to live footage, but as preservation goes, fidelity of the frames is more important when it comes to animation, where every filmed frame was usually created with very deliberate intention.
pretty sure it's using AI too extensively to restore some old footage and it has a weird look to it. The AI ruins the facial expression/animation a lot too
I'm very much amazed with the results of this. Way ahead of its time, one can even call it.
Это уже считалось как 3Д анимация
The quality of animation back then was superb, because it was all done by hand.
It has been run through an AI frame interporlator, which makes it overly smooth. The original has a lot more charm.
the artifacting from whatever AI you're running this through severely detracts from the gorgeous animation :/
Exactly. It looks terrible and it’s unnecessary.

the film without the unnecessary interpolation

Ya blew it with the AI
Beautiful work. Amazing what they could do manually in '39 without computer software.
This is 85 years old and more sophisticated than CGI. Eat your heart out, Pixar (except you don't have a heart).
This is like watching an extra long view master reel come to life and I’m LIVING for it
these old classics don't need to be run at 60fps, it just looks bizarre.
I didn't think animation like this was possible back then. Wow 🤯
I've seen live backgrounds in Popeye shorts before but this is insane!!! I've never seen anything like this from that period

His trip through the cave seems like it must have inspired Popeye's Aladdin story that came a few years later. Like looking at a View-Master slide.

what a nasty upscale
This looks like that it could have been made today certainly not something you would have expected in 1939
Can we just have the upscaled resolution and never ever use framerate interpolation ever?
The sultan wanted an electrician, not a magician
Amazing stylization))
So this is just an AI rendered video. It was in fact actually created in 1939. However, the UA-camr decided to artificially "remaster" this film.
Need a 24 fps version
Absolutely. Handmade animation like this isn't meant to be interpolated to higher fps.
Are you sure this is 1939?
I am with you I am astonish by the smoothness, this was unmatched for decades to come
it is but they used ai upscaling to make it more frames per second
They use to show it between films when theaters showed double features. Also on early TV days there weren't a lot of shows so the programmers showed older movies. cartoons and serials. It was a great time for getting an education on the film world 😊
3:55 the way this cuts😂
I cannot believe this was made in 1939
The craftsmanship that I took to do this is insane
the fact that this was used with a stop-motion film. i rather think so.
Is it AI improved or something? It looks unnatural and creepy
Well, I don't know if it is AI but it has been artificially edited, the image quality and an increase in framerate. Very strange.
Amazing ✌️ many thanks!
I like that the genie looks more like a demon.

Well, that was fascinating.
This looks like modern CGI.
It is)
@@UFO_crewSo not 1939 then. Not dissing it, I enjoyed the blend of modern and old, but this channel usually does restorations of old footage.
@@UFO_crew what? No it isn't

When I look it up online it says this short film/advert is from 1936
You would never guess that this is not CGI if you didn't know better.
It was ruined with that AI bullshit for sure.
you ruined it with the interpolation
👏👏👏
Request: Hot Wheels (1969) Episode 7
Моей пра бабушке Вали тогда было всего лишь 1 год
이게 1939년 작품이라고요? 와...
So, done via AI supposedly in the style of 1939 :(
You ruined it with the AI.
Rather watch the original.
