In my personal opinion, I think from a speculation/investment standpoint that signed cards will be desired by a smaller, more niche audience and will therefore be less liquid and probably cheaper. Maybe PSA 10 Auto 10s will be desired, but I still think the audience will be smaller.
Thanks! I think the biggest question right now is the impact of reprints and how much more interest might come from spreading to other countries. I don’t see how the audience won’t grow IMO.
Thanks, Ray! I have purchased one and am bidding on the 3 currently in auction on eBay. Around $1,000 is what I'm aiming to get PSA 10s for at present time, and I'd like to get 3-4 at the moment.
I like what you're saying. I hope it's true and it should be, it's what I've observed as well. Hopefully, this grows the market and greater demand for Lorcana for years to come
I definitely think the potential for upward price movement is high IF this game continues to do well and does not sunset or turn out like other past failed games based on big IPs. I don’t think the alt arts will see as much of a price decrease, if any, as the normal cards from the reprints. I would advise not overpaying for non-alt arts right now if you’re just trying to play the game, as the reprints will probably help you out there.
If you look at modern pokemon cards. The cards drop in value through time as rotation comes, but sealed product goes up. It would be probably 5-10 years till it goes up, but for now I wouldn't invest into cards cause of the printing problems atm.
I forgot all about the lawsuit. Perhaps that is baked into the current market and could make for opportunity should it be no big deal in the long term.
I lost interested with Lorcana. I don't think the cards look very good in my opinion. I bought lots of product when it was first released and was involved with a few Lorcana forums. I didn't like the people the game was attracting, I found the community to be pretty toxic. The one thing I can say about Lorcana is ravensburger is very intelligent when it comes to making market decisions. Even with the reprint for chapter 1 , they were quoted saying they are keeping both "collectors" and "players" in mind. Wixoss is probably my fav TCG right now. The art and quality of cards is unbelievable.
Thanks for sharing your opinion! I really think the art and design is good for what it’s trying to do, but it’s definitely subjective as well. Wixoss looks like an interesting concept. The art is very vibrant and the box topper promos I last saw looked really good.
I think new big 3 will be 1. Pokemon. Just continues 2. Lorcana. Mtg gameplay with bigger ip and families 3. One Piece. Yugioh hasnt had relevant show in 15 years. Kids still love elsa. There will be a normal Audience later that will at least recognise it. Unlike mtg
Great points. I especially like your number 2. The gameplay looks very inviting and the art/design is very attractive. On top of it being the Disney IP!
Yugi is purely collection at this point, but it has enough cards to keep money going. MTG is pretty much dead. Without active players, the game has no real collection value. Pokemon will become like yugi, but if they screw up, they'll be forgotten like mtg. They're saturating the market. The 151 set delayed its death a bit. Lorcana will most likely succeed once more countries are included in set launches. It's new, people feel more welcomed, art is nice, rules and meta are decent for all ages and there are chase cards since the beginning. One piece is too niche. Flesh and blood is not even a real tcg to me lol
@@palkys. Eventually people will forget and leave pokemon. Hard to predict timeline cos it has a lot of engagement now with young and the middle aged. Mtg is done. Extremely rare children involved in any form. Lorcana is the family game girls and mums can be involved. If it survives people will have nostalgia. Unlikely girls will switch to mtg lol. One piece is like early yugioh, with support from creator, shows and manga. Bandai is prioritizing it over its other games. Seems like it will out last yugioh rn. There will always remain a stubborn core in any card game.
Are you bullish or bearish on Lorcana?
ooo that didnt age so well
😂
I said the same thing but Elsa is going for 800-900 on eBay
Get as many as you can, this is base set charizard feels
the card was as low as $400 recently but has climbed back up to around $600
Better then gold
I was very sceptical at first but it's hard to argue with the level of demand. Bad management could kill it but it won't die from lack of interest.
I’m thinking about just doing a sealed collection of booster boxes. Seems like the safest and most guaranteed
$1000 for Elsa back then? Dang, would have bought a handful.
Wish I had gotten more 😅
whats your honest take on Auto signed cards.. like the elsa signed by the artist??
In my personal opinion, I think from a speculation/investment standpoint that signed cards will be desired by a smaller, more niche audience and will therefore be less liquid and probably cheaper. Maybe PSA 10 Auto 10s will be desired, but I still think the audience will be smaller.
Nice take!! I actually agree with you. As long as Lorcana stays successful like the other big tcgs, you're right on track.
Thanks! I think the biggest question right now is the impact of reprints and how much more interest might come from spreading to other countries. I don’t see how the audience won’t grow IMO.
update?
How many have you acquired so far? Good analysis 🎉
Thanks, Ray! I have purchased one and am bidding on the 3 currently in auction on eBay. Around $1,000 is what I'm aiming to get PSA 10s for at present time, and I'd like to get 3-4 at the moment.
Pre-order for the starter decks just went back up on Amazon
Thanks for the heads up!
I like Lorcana long term since Disney fans are the only people who rival Pokemon fans.
Great point. I have said if Lorcana can’t make it with Disney behind it, no new TCG can.
I like what you're saying. I hope it's true and it should be, it's what I've observed as well. Hopefully, this grows the market and greater demand for Lorcana for years to come
I can't imagine the price holding with the reprints but if the game holds and keeps going then your going to make up the losses over tine.

That’s what they said about Umbreon from ES as well.
it'll go down like all the other TCGs
I'm grabbing a booster box of 1st chapter on Friday, will the box be worth holding or should I crack it?

Thanks for those points. I understand the argument for sealed but it’s not as fun for me as going after my favorite singles and also grading them.
Was heading to bed then I seen FranklyCollecting drop a video I missed
Glad you caught it! I usually publish in the morning EST.
💯 let's go and stock up 😊 got myself 10 already 🎉
I have about 4, myself, but I want more 😎
@FranklyCollecting nice did you purchase PSA 10s?
Yep, 3 PSA 10s so far actually. But hoping to pick up some more as I’m able.
D23 promo Elsa is the card to invest in
Maybe. I like the art of Enchanted better as the promo art is used for just regular version of Elsa.
Oh boy just looked at ebay. You were very correct
Is there a difference in the first prints and reprints?
I’m not 100% sure, but I’m not aware of any.
Enchanted elsa is less shiny on the reprint.
Game will bomb.
I hope not!
This is one of the worst takes I’ve seen in the space. I don’t think I’ve seen a physical tcg with more buzz since pokemon first launched
Im bullish, even if upper deck a lawsuit wins
I forgot all about the lawsuit. Perhaps that is baked into the current market and could make for opportunity should it be no big deal in the long term.
