BEST SAX Solo Of All Time , By A mile , WILL YOU , Hazel O,CONNER,
I personally think the sax solo in Jungleland is the best sax solo of all time, also played by Clarence Clemons
Ricky Lahey ricky, ha. He used that name in an episode. Also jugleland is the best
Baker Street solo. One of a kind, never be equalled.
He is the
Man, love his music, thanks

Woah woah woah guy, this video needs to be flagged for content. You can't just have something this sexy out there for anyone to see
Fuck yeah to sexy.. I'm with you
Just too saxy.
penis!
Men at Work (the late Greg Ham on tenor) "Who Can It Be Now", (Greg Ham again on soprano) "Overkill", and can't forget Romeo Void (Benjamin Bossi on tenor) "A Girl in Trouble". These are a couple of my early 80's favorites. 79' The Chuck Mangione Band featuring (the late Gerry Niewood on tenor) "Give it all you Got". And then there's late 60's thru 70's, and early 80's Chicago - (Walter Parazaider on flute, soprano, alto, and tenor) song that features him well "Just You & Me"
Dude, thanks for posting this. Even is it was 8 years ago when I was 23. 23 year olds don’t understand what good music is.
Same man, I was around that age too 8 years ago. You're very welcome.
'Walk on the Wild Side' - Lou Reed, 'Us and Them' - Floyd, 'Will You' - Hazel O'Connor, 'Sweet Virginia' - Stones.
Urgent, us and them, shine on you crazy diamond...
yes again seen that 1 played live several times that what they opened with in 87 in Lexington
Sweeet.. I heard "Born to Run" on the radio this morning and have that sax solo stuck in my head all day but couldn't remember a single word! Been searching for the song for like an hour, thanks so much! Great other picks too!
Both the fictional band Eddie & the Cruisers and the real band (John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band) had the same [professional] sax player. In the film, his character name was Wendell Newton; in real life, he's Michael "Tunes" Antunes.
What a great selection, congrats and thanks for recopilation! Who´s listening in 2021?
You belong to the city - Glenn Frey
Finally... Baker street! You saved my day, thank you!!!!
I am a learning sax myself and I love these!!!
I totally agree except for one part. Clarence's best solo was totally Jungleland
I'm with ya on that.
My thoughts exactly
Also turn the page was Bob segers best
The 80's had a lot of great sax songs
Thanks for posting this. It's good to hear all the greats together in one place. Good research for my practices and rehearsals.
Pink Floyd- us and them. That solo gave me the chills :)
seen it played live several times
Chills down my back from these solos
Tears For Fears' The Working Hour definitely deserves to be on this list. Mel Collins of King Crimson just dominates and kills it! Still amazing.
Just what I was looking for, right in the intro. Thanks!
Thank you so much, i was going nuts trying to figure the name of the song for number 2 on the list, you are a life savior sir
1. I'm going to throw in 'Take the long way home' by Supertramp. Yes I know it's a clarinet, but it's worth a mention.
2. 'The logical song' also by Supertramp, as has been mentioned elsewhere.
3. 'The working hour' by Tears for Fears with Will Gregory on Sax - an outstanding song in so many ways.
I believe the sax and real rock were made for each other. Gerry Rafferity truly used it well
Bro forgo about drums
Rock in Paradise Alto Reed
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! LOL I have had Baker St in my head for 3 days!!!! The saxaphone was the only thing I could remember!! Lol this video saved my brain!!!!!
No one could play the sax better than Clarence
Very true
Shine on you crazy diamond by Pink should be here
Αξέχαστες επιτυχίες σημάδεψαν εποχές!
I've been searching agonizingly for the song/artist Baker Street for years. Not knowing any info on has been a painful search. THANKS for posting this. Awesome!!!
A sax player named alto reed, your kidding right?
Nope, although Alto Reed is just a stage name. His real name is Thomas Neal Cartmell.
careless whisper by George Michael, one of the most famous sax solos and easily recognizable
Year of the cat and careless whisper are my two favourite 👍🇬🇧♥️🙏
What a pity Mr. Ravenscroft already plays in heaven. But- that is the best place for him, because he plays like an angel.
That Baker Street solo inspired me to pick up the saxophone. still playing after 40 years.
Low spark of high heel boys ~ Traffic
listen to on the road live in germany best alltime recorded version best sax alltime
2:30 thank you man! I was looking for this song and had no idea who played it xp
Great List.
"Dire Straits - Your latest trick" should have been there
Absolutely mate!!!!!!!!!! :) Probably best and sweetest melody ever...
Thanks to this video I was able to satisfy my curiosity of a single certain Sax piece that had been bugging me for the past hour and a half. For the whole time I was trying to figure out something. The answer was Bob Segar’s sax piece
Clarence Clemons Jungleland - Burce Springsteen
Good selection. Don`t know if these are the best but definitly are really good. Thanks for educating us! ! !
As ever, "the Best music", like beauty, is in the Ear/Eye of the perceiver. Completely subjective.
Thank you very much
Raphael Ravenscroft ❤❤❤❤
Best video on UA-cam ever!
Careless Whisper -George Michael
careless whisper - george michael
I cannot complsin....Great job assembling these clips!
Careless Whisper by George Michael
The sax solo in Supertramp's "Logical Song" is transcendent.
george michael- Careless whisper. one of my favorite songs, currently tied with Chris Isaak's Wicked Game on my list of faves.
Thank you so much! I've heard it before but forgot the name.
Great list. Same taste as what I have for saxophone music
David Sanborn's solo career has garnered him six Grammys; he should rank higher IMO, as should Sonny Rollins. Phil Kenzie (Al Stewart's 'Time Passages') and Raphael Ravenscroft (Gerry Rafferty's 'Baker Street') performed two of my all-time favorit sax solos. All-in-all, good list.;)
Careless whisper by George Michael
70's poco "heart of the night" has a unforgettable rift half way in.
We can't forget Who Can It Be Now
you missed Foreigner's URGENT with Jr. Walkers hot sax solo
great to see & hear my old mate Phil Kenzie at No 3 on the list. Played with him for many years back in the Liverpool/Hamburg/London etc days. He was good then too. Check him out.....
What about the solo in Urgent by Foreigner?
That's what is was thinking!
Junior Walker was a great sax player!
100%
the first sax music...my first dance and first kiss...............
Thanks I was looking for the song I don’t know the name, now I got it “Baker Street” by Jerry Rafferty. 👍
Positive Touch Steve Perry one of the most underrated Songs and sax solos of all time if u haven’t heard it go Now!!!!
The instrumental bridge in Deacon Blues does it for me every time, though that's more of a ballad...
@Geoff Angus - that tenor sax licks on that song and "FM" done by Pete Christlieb for Steely Dan. My favorite sax work of all time.
Really good ten saxophonists but reading previous comments there's a few great purveyors of the art we could include? Dick parry for one with The Pink Floyd .Money/us and them / shine on you crazy diamond. He's not to shabby.
I was literally thinking of those. I like the sax solos on that album. Wish they were on here
BAKER STREET FTW
thought the bari/tenor solo in Pink Floyd's Shine On You Crazy Diamond was pretty awesome. Also, the tenor sax solo in the Rolling Stone's Can't You Hear Me Knocking was damn good as well.
great list
The first song is called I'm never gonna dance again by George Michael. Another group called Seether made an attempt at playing it as well.
How could any Top 10 not have Junior Walker's "Urgent" for the 80's band Foreigner???
NO SHIT
Totally incomplete list without The Stones Bobby Keys on tracks like Can't You hear me knockin' & Brown Sugar
David Bowie's 1975 album "Young Americans" is a MUST for all who are passionate about saxophone in popular music.
Thought Phil Kenzi's sax solo on Al Stewart's Song on the radio was slammin! So great! I'm disappointed that it wasn't on the list as well!
The list failed to included to sensational tenor solo on Huey Lewis " Heart of Rock & Roll " by Johnny Colla
Strong freakn' list!!! Would have love to see one or two Eddie Money tracks in there. I was totally unaware of some of those colabs.
wow...love it
Junior Walker's sax solo in 'Urgent' by Foreigner way outdoes all of the solos presented here.
What about Charlie Brown and Yakkety Yak by the coasters? Late fifties.
hey anyone know what is the very first song before the countdown?
if anyone answers it will be greatly apreciated
" Careless Whisper " by George Michael . The sax is so sultry & soulful !
Awesome
The ones I find myself going back to again and again are Rollins’ work with the Stones. His cool restraint is timeless. Lots of sax gods on this list though!
DeChant and Daryl Hall are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
couldn't agree more with the first place
Amen to that... The Logical Song FTW!
Thanks!!!
I learned all these songs!
In terms of Pop Culture relevance the Sax in "Baker Street" and "Careless Whispers" are as important/memorable as the vocals so I would place them 1 & 2. All the others complement the song but are not really "lead". In that sense, "Who can it be now" should probably not only be in this list but top 3 for the same reason, integral part of the song, but again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Good list, thanks..
I have some suggestions, Rat Trap by Boomtown Rats, One For The Living by Tina Turner, Who Can It Be There by Men At Work, and No Love by Joan Armatrading.
Decent list 🙂
I have a few suggestions for a second one:
Supertramp - The logical song
Average White Band - Pick up the pieces
Dire Straits - Your Latest Trick
Jennifer Warnes / Bill Medley - The time of my life
Huey Lewis and the news - I want a new drug
JOJO.. Boz Scags.. A can't miss on this list.
it has been written in the top of the comment section for 7 months..
Mel Collins, from King Crimson. Also on prog rock area, Jimmy Hastings from Caravan, and Didier Malherbe from Gong.
How about Candy Dulfer's Lilly was Here and Poco's Heart of the Night
One to consider for future lists: Mark Knopfler's "Going Home" from the movie "Local Hero". Found out Gerry Rafferty actually provided vocals on one of the soundtrack's songs.
amaizing i alreaddy found the sound i've been looking for!!!
class selection dude!!!
David Sanborn also played the solo in The Eagles' The Sad Cafe.
10's name is actually Micheal Antunes; from John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band (the actual band that does the Eddie and the Cruisers songs.)
What is it about the 80s and saxophone music, especially a solo in the middle of a song? And let's not forget the part everyone mentions immediately if you mention the Lost Boys, Tim Capello playing the saxophone. Even as a little kid during the 80s, if there was any sort of love or sex scene in a movie or tv show, I'd be like, 'and here comes the saxophone music'.
Still rock and roll to me- Billy Joel
