"We just saw the Disney movie with the highest body count "
-Doug Walker
Now that's how you open a review!
Nathaniel Foga There is no way that “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” has a bigger body count than “Atlantis: The Lost Empire” or “Dinosaur”!
Watch it have more of a body count than infinity war
Nathaniel Foga How much was the body count? I mean, Mulan has a pretty heavy body count when they encountered the burned village and we see a lot of dead bodies lying on the snowy ground along with when Mulan started the avalanche which killed a lot of the Huns.
This is GOT's levels of death counts
"What a way to celebrate your wedding anniversary every year the same day this kingdom's equivalent of 9/11 happened" XD Goddamn
Disney only made her Quasi Evil, Semi Evil, the Margarine of Evil, the Diet Coke of Evil.
Gabriel Atienza sympathy for the devil. Can't be worthy of sympathy if depicted as full blown evil.
Just 1 calorie. Not evil enough.
It's like the Zune of evil. No I pod here, ladies and gentlemen.
This perfectly sums up the films ingeniously.
The diet coke of Evil, Lol 🙂
Doug: "We just seen the Disney movie with highest body count"
Mulan: Am I a joke to you?
In a better movie them getting married after all the slaughter would’ve been some darkly ironic thing, like, “Oh look how little the royals care about death and bloodshed, they’ll just go ahead and act like nothing happened and have a party” but I guess dark irony isn’t really the Mouse’s brand . . .
Bridget Little I think that would really only work if we saw a disconnect between the royals and the commonfolk
That would require an entirely different movie. What they could've done was make an effort to make Aurore so NOT over it and happy - have her say the vows wounded, bloodied, with he potted blue flower behind her etc. Show she was more so griding her teeth trough it so people have a symbol of peace, even if it marred he wedding.
But then in fairy tales, it's prefectly normal to get married right after someone cut their feet or was made to dance in burning shoes or something.
Directed by Thanos.
Thanos somehow became even MORE evil as a movie director than he was as a galactic conqueror.
Well the last movie did make me want to kill half the universe so that seems pretty accurate

I was legit worried Doug was going to hurt himself laughing a few times there.
"The Joke was Lethal"
Well, you should be rather worried he would start singing.
Just the statement of Warwick Davis murdering an annoying fairy makes me quite tempted to go and see this movie.
Warwick Davis actually did a very good job with what he was given. I personally loved his scene with Elle Fanning.
It's funny that you compare the third act to the opening of Pirates 3, because that movie had a wedding RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BATTLE.
KeybladeMasterAndy and even that made more sense, since they were most likely going to die.
When Pirates 3 made more sense than your movie, you know something’s wrong
Senseless as it is, it's definitely fun.

I..DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!
I DRINK IT UP!
I drink your fairies. I drink em all!!!
An organ with a designated key set to go off? That's something straight out of a Bugs Bunny cartoon. Was she playing "Those Endearing Little Charms"?
It’s sad that the best that can be said about the Disney live-action remakes is that at least Maleficent tries to do something different. And have a high body count.
Kill Count! Please make an exception and give this movie the Kill Count treatment.
It's a breath of fresh air after Lion King.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, most violent PG film since Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom?
More like Disney bought out the MPAA.
Totally agree.
Temple of Doom was actually rated PG?
@@barbiquearea back in the day people had balls. Look at the kids movies in the 80's. Those will traumatize most modarn day teens.
Or invasion of the body snatchers
I dunno, Atlantis the Lost Empire still probably takes the Gold in Body Counts.
Also if you wanted to get Technical and count Touchstone movies,Good morning Vietnam,Armageddon, and pearl harbor probleby have the biggest
Tadicuslegion78 Also Mulan had a large body count with the dead soldiers in the burned village and the Huns Mulan killed when starting the avalanche.
Lauren210 Mulan I would say had a body count of 1,500 to 2,000 when you take into account the burned village, the dead soldiers, and the avalanche Huns. I still think Atlantis has the biggest death count just from its opening and the attack by the Leviathan alone.
@@jamesmoyner7499 According to Film theory, its Dinosaur with a freaking lot of lemurs death. If you're counting humans death however, it's either Atlantis, or Hercules
Good chemistry between these two
Because they're both pricks, so it's easy to get along.

“It’s just CONSTANT DEATH! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Disney movie with this much CONSTANT DEATH!”
Well, that’s all I need to hear. I kinda want to see this movie now!
You should, it actually had some pretty high stakes, lovely visuals and GORGEOUS costume designs, and the three female leads (Jolie, Fanning & Pfeiffer) were all fantastic.
@@DJtheBlack-RibbonedRose Elle Fanning is such a great actress, loved her performance at Maleficents "death"
Also, she was really hot.
You got to see her in a very form-fitting nightgown in the climax.
@@chasehedges6775 I agree, I think Elle Fanning has really managed to make a name for herself as a great actress, and even though SPOILERS you're right, her reaction in that scene felt so real and authentic, I got chills. Like she really did just watch her mother get Thanos'd in front of her. Her costumes (as well as Jolie's and Pfeiffer's) were all beautiful I wanted to wear just about everything!
D.J. Rose Is it just me or does it feel insulting and downright disrespectful for Maleficent to be Aurora’s mother after she deprived Aurora’s ACTUAL mother of the chance to raise her daughter by cursing her?
@@ryancarson6962 A little bit insulting, yeah, I agree, but don't forget about the whole "Queen Ingrith-wanting to take Aurora as-her-own" thing. But also dont forget how bland and forgettable her ACTUAL mother was the first film. She barely had a character, or lines for that matter. All we know is that she's married to Stefen, the villain,
she gives birth to Aurora and she dies. That's it.
We don't even care that she died. It's never brought up again. If anything, having Maleficent as a mother is a better alternative.
Still, I this movie, as well as the first, as a whole, is just unnecessary.
25:54, "Elle Fanning was still trying very hard."
I very much agree, Doug.
Doug Walker: Oh lala boring fairytale
Me: Was this film necessary
We've got Catwoman and Tomb Raider going head to head 🤣🤣
Disney65Fan I see what you did there.
Funny you mention pirates since these people directed Pirates 5
Yay! Doug! Please continue to have the Walkers, Tamara, and Laura on your show. They are so fun.
Or don't have Doug and maybe I'll watch your content again
Doug will forever be criticized by Jim Henson's Pregler Babies.
Mistress of Evil? Are we really supposed to take these movies seriously?
Disney: Uuuuh yeah.
@@flameroad123 Nope. Not at all.
They were pretty tongue in cheek with the first one, so I'm going to say...no.
@@LupineShadowOmega The only thing that makes it worth it are Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning's performances.
Plain and Freaking simple.
I think the subtitle was only there to illustrate that that became Maleficent's undeserved rep. due to how skewed the story became between the first movie and the second. In the movie I mean, not in real life, but yeah no one's going to think that off the top of their head without seeing the movie first.
No Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is PG just Like My Little Pony The Movie and Despicable Me 3.
The rating system makes no good since anymore
Right GOTG had people getting killed by an arrow but since no blood it is fine then. As long as its not red you can show it. So if you're a robot or alien or not human you can show them getting there head cuts off, limps, blow up.
I believe the kid fairies Maleficent is flying away with at the end of the movie are Angelina Jolie’s kids
Probably.
Who killed more people this movie or you?
Can't wait for your NC review of this movie Doug!
Yep, going with my instincts and avoiding this movie like the plague. Sucks that you were going to sleep but the seat kept joshing you awake.
With an insane third act like that?
I'm gonna go see it.
If only to see how good/bad it is.
@@chasehedges6775 I am not contributing to this by seeing the movie. Hence avoiding it
@@Firstborn0Raz OK. Still, I'm going to see it just out of curiosity. Like, how do you make a sequel to a film that mostly "meh"?
I'm going in with little to no expectations, so wish me luck.
@@chasehedges6775 From me to you I wish you eh...good luck. If it is bad look on the positive, when you go on a date and they take you to a movie they like but you hate, you can compare it to this movie and say, "Well at least it isn't Maleficent".
Disney just can't _do_ villain movies, it's impossible. Everything has to be pretty and clean and family-friendly, right down to the morals, so the idea of making a movie where the protagonist is explicitly a villain (and not a Gru-type villain where they're good people but just break the law for fun and glory, but a full-fledged *evil person)* is completely anathema to them.
Hey, look on the bright side: Angelina Jolie could've just said, "darn you, I don't care" and phoned in her performance.
Instead, she gave it her all and gave a pretty dang good, genuine performance.
Elle Fanning also did a great job. When I first heard that she was playing Aurora, I was... skeptical, to say the least, but then I saw her act and man, such a great performance.
I think the first and second are worth watching for Jolie's and Fanning's performances.
It's not spoiling if you don't want to see it.
Does this make the animated Sleeping Beauty better in your eyes, Doug?
Most likely.
Let the bodies hit the FFFFFFFFLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRR!!!
I didn't think it was the worst disney sequel, but I don't think it was better than the original. Good climax though. Also, Catwoman clearly had a blast in her role. Alsoalso, Mulan is totally gonna have a higher body count.
I’m literally 30 minutes away from seeing this with my mom and now I’m scared to.
Is it bad?
Norbert M I actually really liked this film!
@@mnorbert4188
It's MEH.
BunnieEar AJ Me too. I mean, it’s horrendously written, the ending is jaw-droppingly tone deaf, and the film isn’t worthy of the cast it got. But it’s visually gorgeous, Maleficent’s Phoenix scenes were pretty damn cool, and the end credits song is also kinda nice.
@@ursaminor9780 The acting from Jolie, Fanning and Pfeifer were the highlights of this movie.
The climax was so crazy and unexpected. Like, I did not see it coming.
It was stupid, yes, but very enjoyable and fun.
It was a rollercoaster of emotions.
Maleficent is thanos??
You should have gone for the wings

This Maleficent appears to be the Fairy Godmother compared to Thanos.
Can somebody explain why everybody hates Doug? He seems like a nice guy and he makes great content
I like him. He's such a fun guy and I hope Hollywood contracts him to be in a movie because, man he can act. His reviews and skits are proof of that.
Chase Hedges same
@@alexandersmith7061 Thank you for the feedback. By then way, what did you think of Elle Fanning's acting.
I thought she was acting her heart out everytime she's on screen. Also, what did you think about Isabella Sermon from Fallen Kingdom?
Would love to hear your opinion.
Chase Hedges
Well, I didn’t see Fallen Kingdom, but I feel like Elle Fanning perfectly captured what makes us all love the Disney princess archetype, and I think that a lot of people miss that when criticizing both movies
Also, it makes sense that on Rotten Tomatoes critics gave this a 40% and audience members gave it a 96%. This movie is clearly more of a crowd-pleaser than a critic-pleaser.
Yeah, but I don't know, it feels like this one exists because the first one exists. Like, the first movie was popular because it tried doing the who "Maleficent is not evil, Just misunderstood" thing, so the people making sequel thought : Hey, this needs a sequel.
When, honestly, no, we didn't.
The first one wasn't really good to begin with.
Doug and Brad GOTTA do the car again. 👍 as for the film, choose wisely. 😉
Ok one of you needs a wig. You cant both be the same person.
Just pronounce them as "Short Doug" and "Tall Brad".
Its only PG. 🤔
Sooo. A FAMILY PICTURE!!!!!
14:27 The last time Disney dealt with killer organs was Forte in BATB: The Enchanted Christmas (aka the better of the two midquels), so that was certainly a surprise; didn't see that one coming! Or how much damage it would cause XD. Also let's be real here that lady was totally getting off to the experience, her face clearly showed that she was into all the organ murders XD.
I actually watched this movie at school and when I watched this review I realised just how much of the movie I had forgotten
I thought it was more like Sleeping Beauty meets Avatar.
I know i wont be seeing this movie after the first one.
That's fine. Can't blame you.
30:40 or all the murder and mutilation in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (especially Anakin burning alive)
Any chance you guys might do a crossover review for this someday?
The best part was blue fairy dying
I didn't give a darn when she died. Like: "Hey, here's the obligatory Heroic Sacrifice."
This movie sounds like the production crew went back to the early 80s and did every conceivable drug in order to inspire them for a movie idea, and then the production was still doing 'fairy dust' during it also. Secretly you guys wrote this, hu? Did they confuse Ellie for her older sister, Dakota, (star of some horror films) and the director just wanted to marry her, or something?

The Lion King (1994)
Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil (2019)
Just started video and "Disney movie with the highest body count".. can't wait to hear how that compares with Mulan lol
Without watching this video I clicked on it simply because Brad and Doug are in the thumbnail
I do enjoy it when the brothers visit and review a movie with you Brad.
circular7 Me too.
I thought that christening joke they mentioned was a reference to the couple having just had sex, then I wondered if it was a reference to Maleficent crashing the first christening. Now I'm wondering if it was a reference to both.
Aurora and Philip barely had any chemistry at all. Romantic or otherwise.
It doesn't help that the actor who played Philip is so unexpressive and lame and does such a bad job of acting, it's not even funny
Elle Fanning, on the other hand, is acting her heart every time she's on screen. I think it's because she's just very expressive and is very invested in what she's doing and saying.
I also think that because Elle Fanning just seems like she wants to be there and wants to have fun, which is what I love.
Whereas the other guy just seems like, "let's get this over with. Where's my💵💵💵💵"
Does the highest body count take account for Marvel and Star Wars films?
Unlikely 😆
I think its fair to say "with the Disney logo on it" i mean they were already body counts in Marvel and Star wars films before disney like blade, the punisher, and of course the original Star wars with both death stars beeing destroyed. In a Disney film you can barelly see anyone killed, i mean outside from the parents of the main lead or the villain tell me one movie of Disney that that has many deads in it? (And of course i mean both live action and animated) the closest thing i think to me its Narnia or atlantis, or even the pirates films

I can’t believe it, but I’m about to defend something in this movie.
The largest gem on one of the mannequin’s necklaces was shifted noticeably to the left, having evidently been nudged by the Queen’s arm, so Aurora figured out that the head turned to the left.
That still doesn’t excuse why the head wasn’t already fully snapped back into position, though. That’s a major design flaw.

I never understood why Malificent needed wings to get around. In the 1959 feature she used her staff to fold in and disappear.

The 1959 original will always be better.
Is that you, Doug? 🧐

@@MrJholshouser41 They're actually better when they're with Brad. When it's the 2 of them, I can only pick up on a sentence once every minute or so because the talking over is non-stop.
just the preview was enough to turn me off, but that was assuming it was going to _focus_ on Maleficent seeming to relearn the lesson from the first film...
This and the first one, strikes me as the pitfall of having a villain protagonist. By the end they have to become the bad guy, but until then we have to care what happens to them. My personal thought is they went too far one way and tried way to hard to justify what she was going to do. Why she's not in much of the second movie, and why so many others act very cartoony though the films.
I still get taken aback whenever I see the Cinema Snob and the Nostalgic Critic together in a vid.
Wow! He got Kane for a movie review! Peace through Power! Down with GDI!
It's weird that Disney decided to let this franchise die despite the initial movie doing well in the box office and it helped launch the Disney live action series.
My guess is they just made this movie because the 1st one was
a hit. Still, it's bad, but it's a blast. It does have a lot of good acting from Elle Fanning, Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeifer. The guy who played Prince Philip... man was he bland. You could cut him out of the and not miss a thing.

The one thing that keeps the film from being God awful for me is the tension (and acting) between Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeifer. Apart from that, and the visuals- the film as a whole is like the first film- one big missed opportunity.

Mulan is the queen of body counts.
It was strange how the had the wedding in the same day after the war! Also the plot was kind of predictable and I did expect Maleficent to bring the dead fairies back to life but, she didn’t! But I thought it was a good movie and that’s my opinion to have! I know this review is not trying to discourage people from watching the movie. Because it’s really one of those movies where YOU have to decide and surprisingly even though there is a lot of death in it if you want to take your kids to watch it then, maybe they will have fun due to children being the films target audience!
