5 years ago my son and his team played in the PG 13U National Championships in Georgia. His team was talented and had some good wins, but ended up losing to some of the higher ranked teams. My son was talented, strong and fast, but undersized. He was easily the best player in his city at 13U, but when high school came around, many of those smaller kids he used to dominate were now 6 1" to 6 3" tall and suddenly grew into their " man bodies"and he remained at 5 5" tall. Blame his fathers genetics I guess. While he could still compete, as far as recruiting, simply did not project. He was Varsity as a freshman, 4 year Varsity player overall, but was simply too short. Your kid could be a phenomenal player, but at the end of the day, if he doesn't have the size, his chances of playing after high school are slim. He did play at a local JUCO for a semester, but decided at the end of the day, it wasn't worth it. I still admire these kids who are able to live out their dreams. It was a great experience for him regardless and the memories and friends he gained are priceless. A handful of his former teammates went on to play D1 baseball.
No doubt these kids are some of the best for their age in the country I wonder tho how many other kids at their level who can’t compete because of not being able to afford to play on these teams and the travel price. I guess if there are kids that are this good coaches would help out with the financial side of things I would hope. Interested in how that works because I’m sure there’s some kids like that out there.
That's the biggest problem with youth sports. So many kids go unnoticed. You could have the next babe Ruth mickey mantle the next Randy Johnson. We'll never know. My nephew is good enough at hockey to make the travel team. But gear gas hotel food makes it impossible when the kids and parents can't afford it. in all honesty the travel league should have those fees reimburseable from their budget. Or don't offer travel at all.
to be highly ranked in baseball being great isn’t enough you have to be rich have parents who sacrifice everything for you and you usually need to be abnormally large for your age
These guys are 13 holy shiiit. What dimensions are the fields they play on? As far as bases and pitching distance? Also what is the deal with these towels in their back pockets? Swag?
yeah dude these days there isn’t anyone who’s good who isn’t playing the highest level. If players can’t afford opportunities, opportunities are paid for.

people are saying there are 14 year olds playing 13u in travel ball or if it is travel ball the cutoff date is a lot weirder making it so 14 year olds can still play 13u.
He is right. Where we are, the cutoff is April 30th. If a kids birthday is May 1st, then he is eligible to play up or play at his "age", which because of the cutoff would be 1 year behind. example would be a kid who's turning 13 on May 1st is eligible to play 12u.

These are the best? Because PG says so? Could the actual best not afford to get up to this particular event?
That is true for some of the kids not at this event but also some of these are the best I've seen them in person they're pretty amazing
some of them are really good. some aren't, they are just bigger and stronger than everyone else currently.
