Welcome to my Blind Playthrough and FIRST TIME ever playing Mass Effect 3! Today we take on Priority: Thessia and...I know I said it last episode, but THIS time, we got an actual Truckload of lore. The BIGGEST so far!

--------------------
Mass Effect 3 is an action role-playing video game developed by BioWare and published by Microsoft Game Studios and Electronic Arts. Similar to Mass Effect 2, the player can import a completed saved game into Mass Effect 3 that influences the plot by taking previous decisions into account. In general, Mass Effect 3 revolves around increasing military strength by completing missions and gathering resources. As BioWare designed the game to be accessible to both old and new players, many of the series' traditional gameplay elements remain, such as cover-based third-person shooting, but new aspects are introduced as well, such as a multiplayer component.
Uh, lets just ignore that part of the intro repeats 🫡
no, we must not.
there was a part that repeated in last weeks video too. thought I had a connection glitch :P
Would you play shadow of modor ?
Would you play shadow of war ?
I wonder if you noticed Joker mention the colony 'Tiptree', and what he said about it. I seem to remember a traumatised Asari talking about her experiences on a colony called Tiptree with a teenaged human girl.
It's increíble how many people miss this, the first time I put one and one together it gave me chills
1:15:30 That's why I love Garrus so much, always there to cheer you up when you feeling down, not many friends like that in real life.
That entire conversation on Thessia is why Leviathan is set after the mission.
In Leviathan, Shepard learned that the Reapers are being led by the original program the Leviathans created, yet not only does Shepard not bring it up on Thessia, but Shepard repeatedly questions where did the Reapers come from and who is leading them.
30:25 You Finally missed an upgrade XD YES! xD
"He [Javik] should not have been optional."
Remember, Javik was a DLC character. When ME3 was first released, some people wouldn't have bought the DLC, and would have had to play the game without Javik, so he couldn't be a mandatory squad mate for this mission. (But yeah, a lot of fans were angry that he was DLC for exactly this reason.)
Just for info, if you don't take Javik: (i) Liara convinces the asari commander to let you through, explaining that the future of the entire asari race depends on it; and (ii) when you examine the temple artifacts, your second squad mate will say things like "Hey, he looks a bit like a prothean," so Liara still comes to realise the truth about her history (although it's obviously better when Javik is there to state the facts categorically).
Commander Shepard: “These are nice rugs.”
Asari soldiers: “YOU’RE STEPPING ALL OVER OUR DEAD!!” 😂😂
This entire mission reminds me of the concept of, "Intervention Theory" where human's were helped and genetically modified by another species to be servants to them.
Thessia was wild, not only for finally getting to finally fight Kai Leng after what he did to Thane, but also all the lore involving the Protheans and how both Liara and Javik react to it. (I remember in my playthrough not liking Javik's more negative pragmatism in the beginning but the way he grows as the story goes was fantastic)
Just to show you that we exist and there is a demand for it after tackling Dragon Age, i'm at the halfway point of ME Andromeda and still loving it a lot, with the exploration and combat gameplay being the highlights, but the new characters and story do have me positively hooked even if the original trilogy still clears.
You're absolutely gonna love the game, especially if you have mods for PC. (If I love it on Ps4 without mods, then on PC it might just be a masterpiece thanks to the improvements by the community)
1:24:16 Ah, forgot about that. The mod you installed changed not just Tali's model, but her photo too.
Many also do add more alien features in fanart of her maskless.
This fanmade one is good but personally I'm more partial to her official redesigned face on the base Legendary Edition.
(And anything is a improvement over the rushed job she got in the original ME 3 release years ago)
Still, Tali's gorgeous no matter what, even with just the cool helmet.
4:10 In the very beginning of ME2 in the Cerberus Station after you talk the first time with the Illusive Man, if you investigated Miranda's dialogue she told you that she planned to put a control chip in order to control you but the Illusive Man stopped it. Maybe you missed it, because that line was quite memorable.
NEW EDIT: I searched for your ME2 playthrough and I found the moment where you did investigate Miranda's dialogue and she told you back than that she would have implanted a chip inside you but the Illusive Man stopped it. So you didn't miss that moment, maybe you just didn't remember her chip mentioning from that long.
Interesting coincidence. This is the second first time Thessia mission reaction i've seen today.
chrisnord?
@@alierenaytac7040 Indeed.
Dude it’s been so awesome watching this journey of yours. I LOVE this series. It’s going to be bittersweet watching it finish.
I knew you were going to enjoy thessia, the lore in that mission is amazing. The mission itself was incredible.
I think I briefly mentioned it the first time Kai Leng showed up but yeah he's universally hated by everyone. The story consistently makes everyone dumb just to make edgelord look good.
Ever notice the Illusive Man’s eyes? They’re exactly like Saren. Long game indoctrination. Also originally, when pillars fall Shepard has to choose to save Liara or Virmire survivor
The hardest part of inspiring friends to try this series is not spoiling EVERYTHING for them 😂 not telling them about the introductory mission when you start mass effect 2, or about how amazingly deep the Mordin Solus story gets, or Wrex’s massive change from 1 up to 3… it’s just so hard to passively watch and enjoy them fall in love with characters knowing some of what may happen to them …!
After Liara's scene with Javik, she went back into her cabin on her bed and continued crying and mourning her people and her Planet Thessia. I was curious about your reaction with her on that scene as well but I think you missed that cutscene out, because you didn't go to see her and you started another mission instead.
I can't wait for you to get certain weapons from a certain DLC. You'll be glad for saving that particular DLC for last, but upset that you didn't get these guns sooner.
there is always newgame+
as an infiltrator and pistol enjoyer I certainly was
Yeah Mark actually does the voice acting for the VORCHA, of all things. I was shocked.
Really enjoying your playthrough. It's taken me a bit to catch up and I just wanted to share some thoughts as I'm watching:
1. The Typhoon sucks. "But wait, everyone keeps saying it's the best gun in the game." It is. For Garrus. A big problem with the Mass Effect community is that they repeat information without context or understanding (and they have a set way they play and can be very overbearing toward streamers). The difficulty you select determines more than just health and damage modifiers. It also affects enemy AI such as how many enemies will target you at one time, how quickly they'll target the player after they leave cover, how quickly they fire after locking on, etc. However, squadmates have this problem to much lesser extent than Shepard. Garrus can hold down the trigger nearly indefinitely without being blown away by a rocket which is why his best build is stocking up on weapon damage and ammo upgrades from the Normandy, bringing Kaidan/Ashley for the squad weapon damage, and the Typhoon. Ammo upgrades are almost universally bad except when you're trying to make Garrus a one-man wrecking crew since he can take advantage of the Typhoon being fully ramped up.
2. If you ever decide to replay the game I'd recommend NOT bringing Javik to Thessia. I know there's been a lot of backseating and it's not THAT much of a problem in this case since it's really good for one playthrough, but again, a lot of people only have one way to play and haven't done alternatives. I personally think it's funny that James, the one everyone thinks is a meathead, is able to put 1+1 together and is absolutely befuddled that the wisest race in the galaxy is clueless about their own history.
3. Mark Meer is fantastic in 3 and I think I'd blame the voice acting director for a lot of earlier problems. Liara is also significantly better and I think it's because they themselves improved. FemShep's Jennifer Hale has been an accomplished VA for literally decades so I think a lack of proper direction in ME1 didn't affect her nearly as much. She nails the Commander part of Commander Shepard, but I really don't like how she sounds in the quieter moments of 3. She sounds almost irritated rather than beaten down when the weight of the galaxy is on her shoulders. Other times she sounds more exhausted than relaxed when the crew is joking around. She has incredible range so I'd again point toward a lack of proper direction. In ME1 and ME2 she's nearly perfect except for 1's infamous, "On the double Mister," which no voice actor could save and the awkward flirtatious greeting she does every time you speak with Jacob in 2.
My man, you need to make use of cryoblast to turn armor into tissue paper. Gives you 25% dmg bonus. Add the 100% dmg bonus for incinerate on top of that and armor shouldn't be a problem for you.
Shouldn’t have gone for the side mission immediately, skipped an amazing cutscene with Liara unfortunately
yes that's what I was searching for and couldn't find that scene.
19:50 sure, but for Vanguard class ,you want the recharge speed to be as fast as possible, due to charge and nova.
22:05 well Vanguard's Charge and Nova combo doesn't care for armor or shields, it just breaks them down and leave the enemy wasted, but in turn you are very exposed and vulnerable. Not sure if there is a upgrade on Engineer that would of allowed it besides power combo's maybe, power combo's are basically free damage as you use your primer ability with the denonator, but I'm not sure what powers on engineer would trigger a power combo, I know on Vanguard its Charge combined with Nova, but yet again both of those are just denonaters and not a primer like pull or shockwave, but Nova basically does a lot of damage to shield, barriers, and armor, at the cost of using your barrier, but you get that back by using charge, and so with this combo you just keep charging and nova-ing an enemy to death, yes it as OP as it sounds, but yeah on Vanguard, you would want very high recharge rate and a lot of barrier and power damage.
I think Engineer's primers are OVerload and Sabotage, and the Dentonators are incinerate and combat drone (depending on how you upgraded it). not sure on Cyro blast + incinerate.
56:08 if you had lash, you could just bully Kai leng here, as it just makes him ragdoll and he cant do anything to you, its funny, But Eventually Kai Leng will bug out and so your soft-locked and cant continue the mission.
1:10:23 you know the PTSD Asari in the Hostipal on the Citadel? the story she was talking about is in relation to Jeff's sister.
1:14:34 there was cut content where Garrus's parents would of died or lived, depending if Sidonus was spared or not in Garrus's loyalty mission in Mass Effect 2.
1:10:40 Tiptree... Tiptree... now where have we heard that before? 👀
First time I’ve seen this level on insanity and it’s pretty wild.
Javik should’ve been mandatory for the lore. My first experience was from the original and I never had the chance to have Javik on the team since he was a DLC character. It wasn’t until Legendary Edition came out til I found out about that lore.
"This is so scripted..." I think this is the big reason why people hate Kai Leng so much. The scripted nature of these interactions takes all autonomy away from the player. You are absolutely right.
So damn hyped for citadel DLC
As much as I love this game, Kai-Lang is such an uninteresting "boss" now that I'm re-watching this.
Thank you
Sweet, love me some Mass Effect.
I’m pretty sure even Troy Baker didn’t like Kai Leng despite voicing him😂😭
Edit: Watched a video of him being so disappointed being the one having to take out Thane💀
I absolutely love Javik
damn i missed so much lore in thessia bcs i didnt bring javik woahh
edit: please PLEASE PLEASE pick the regenade option when it's time (you'll know when trust me )
This mission was made to be a loss for Shepard. With all their wins, they had to have a loss and this was it.
Also the only reason we lost was because Kai cheated by having a gunship on his side. Ass.
Remember Javik was $10 day one dlc.
In the end, the Asari should have offered this info sooner.
It's this very mission in particular that's one of the reasons its so insanely frustrating and awful that Javik was initially Day 1 $10 DLC when the game originally released back in 2012. He shouldn't have been DLC even if he wasn't this important and integral to the story. But the fact that he is makes it SO much worse. People who start with LE will (thankfully) never know our pain.
1:12:07 EDI is an absolute savage. You take a huge L and she offers to play the French national anthem 😆
Engineer is great for destroying armor. Incinerate is great for armor, generally best to take the extra armor damage evolution, not sure if you have that. After they’re on fire you can detonate with overload or Liara’s warp for a fire explosion for a chunk of damage.
In addition the other poster already mentioned cryoblast as weakening armor.
Ramp up weapons are kinda terrible for skill based classes, since you have to re-ramp the gun after every ability.
Commenting again after seeing your comments on Garrus- you should do a Femshep run and romance Garrus. His romance is really one of the best ones.
Bro I know you teased it earlier but I really wish you’d go back and play KOTOR I & II. You’ll see so many seeds that were planted in both games that were fully fleshed out in Mass Effect. The Asari Temple looks straight out of Star Wars because if you play those games you’ll recognize which one it mimics.
Paladin rocks man, rocks f#%£ing hard mate
I think you lost a pretty good and emotional conversation with Liara after she argues with Javik, if you go to talk to her she will be in her room crying for all the people she couldn't save on Thessia, it's a shame you couldn't see that scene, it's because you went to the Citadel and did not pass by his room. Also the conversation between Chakwas and Adams had more dialogue that you did not hear since you directly supported Chakwas, I find it one of the most interesting conversations between crew members in the game. Without a doubt, Thessia Priority is for me one of the best missions in the game and in the trilogy, but the fact that the defeat against Kai Lame feels so forced and scripted is something to criticize, I like the idea that Shepard finally has to lose a battle after a constant series of Victories, and above all, that the cost of that defeat is so high, but I think it should have been worked better, but we will have time to take revenge on Leng another time. Someone else had already said it, but I recommend that you do the Citadel DLC after Horizon, and that you do them in separate videos, since the DLC has a TON of content, I'm loving your Playthrough so far Ace, keep it up.
Yoo bro you should play Cyberpunk 2077 soon, genuinely one of the greatest games of this generation after the updates. It also has a dlc, with another 15 hour story!
probably best you do Horizon and The citadel DLC as separate videos, considering the length of that DLC.
they end up as mostly separate. i end up doing horizon and starting the citadel dlc in the same episode but MOST of the citadel DLC is its own super long video
@KingdomAce so basically cut after getting to andersons apartment?
@iamboringvideos6832 nah, I go all the way to after the sneaking mission where you team up with Brooks and a squadmmate to distract the guards and get into the office.
@KingdomAce hmm well ok, so you still got alot to go, well alrighty then, cant wait to see.
👹Is it work time? Is food included?
The Fall of Thessia...
Ah yes, the Kai Leng boss fight. It's the biggest gameplay/cutscene whiplash I have ever seen. One moment you are beating Kai Leng up, the next, you're on the ropes. It's a horribly designed fight and cutscene combo. Easily the worst in the series. Luckily, it's over now.
No one liked that fight. Even back in 2012, people were clowning on it.
Can you react to assassins creed trailers
