Thank you for being real. Inspiring me to pay off my debt at 30 years old and get my crap together. I went from flat broke and lost to farming 3 acres. I’ve Started a pantry, bred quail, and started raising dairy goats. Today i decided to look into womens self denfense classes and also getting in physical shape. Keep being real. Thank you.

I love the name of your farm. I miss the old dirt roads and wish we still had more of them. My grandparents farm was on a dirt road and it was so quiet with just a huge field they farmed across on the other side of the road. A beautiful view from their front porch. Something about a dirt road…

ALWAYS LISTEN to your gut instincts. The one time I did not listen to mine I was gang raped and left for dead. Ever since then I have always listened to my gut. In today's world my gut has been, for a long time now, telling me to stock up and prepare. Not only food but supplies. I don't know what is coming. For those who say they are not worrying because God will provide......God already provided you with a gut instinct so why aren't you listening? He will help us through but we have to listen and help ourselves as he wants us to do. Good video Ma'am. Thank you

Been preparing for years and have aways kept my eyes and ears alert out here because my husband was gone during the week. People would ask him isn't he worried about me being alone. He said no. She knows how how to use a firearm. One day I noticed someone in our barn. Grabbed the gun and introduced myself. Here it was my brother. He had car trouble down the road. He says to me "I can't believe you would use a gun on me " . I said back at him " I can't believe you didn't come to the door and knock" !

Listening to bad feelings I've had about people or situations has literally saved my life on several occasions. Those feelings come from God. There's nothing wrong if fear motivates you into survival mode, whether if it's about a dangerous person or about hard times coming.

I don’t know where I heard this but I was told that if a man gets in an elevator with you and you feel a bit uncomfortable. Say” Don’t I know your mom? I’m sure I know your mom” ….And keep it up. Just thinking of his mother can let the wind out even the worst of mankind. It just might buy you the time you need for that elevator door to open and you haven’t made a scene if it wasn’t necessary. Love your wisdom, Patera!❤❤❤

At the start of your video I was reminded about the woman working at the home improvement store and barely fought back when a man tried to abduct her. When I was in high school my girlfriend and I decided (stupidly) to walk the couple of blocks to the Convenience store late at night. We got there right after it closed and two young men had left before us walking the same way home. We could see them ahead of us as we were walking back home. We saw them duck into bushes along the sidewalk. I told my girlfriend we needed to cross to the other side of the street. After we passed where they were they came out of the bushes and started walking behind us. We made it to my girlfriend’s house and told her dad. He made sure I got home safely. It’s that little voice inside that you need to listen to.

Our Dogwoods and redbuds are also blooming. It's 25° outdoors as I sit here drinking my coffee, doing my morning devotions, and enjoying some quiet time. Yes, I am old and don't get moving quickly these days. As for your points about a healthy fear, it saved me back last fall when a guy approached me in my driveway pulling in behind my car trying to sell me a water filtration system that would fit under my kitchen sink. Oh, how he tried telling me he could show me how easy it set up if he could just come inside. Usually, when I go outside, I try to remember to lock my door and put my door key, cell phone, and pepper spray in my back pocket. This man didn't fool me. I don't know if his intention was just a con, but I didn't fall for it. I thank God for the alertness of the moment. I just kept listening as I walked more into my front yard away from the house so my neighbors would hear if I took to screaming and my old lady version of running. He really thought he was going to talk himself in. But, I talked him away. I pray I am always so alert. Granted, I believe things could have gone wrong very easily. I do realize how easy it is that older folks become targets. That day my spider senses were activated. I was fortunate to have a good outcome. I realize it just takes a second of letting my guard down to become a victim. I try hard not to seem an easy target, I am doing what I can to use healthy fear as an advantage. A little training won't hurt either. Thank you, young lady, for all your wise words and encouragement. It keeps me motivated to do what I can as I can. You are a blessing. 👍🙏♥️😊

The thing is, we as women have been conditioned to be polite, ETC.
This is especially true in the case of retail workers. when you have to say yes Ma'am, yes Sir on a daily basis it seeps over into other areas of your life. Before you know it people are walking all over you, in all areas of your life. Luckily, I escaped from retail and have finally found my voice/backbone. Beware though, your family and so called friends and even strangers are not going to like you saying no, not doing what they want ETC.. They will try to gaslight you and say you are the problem when they do not get their way.
Listen to your gut, God gave us this instinct for a reason.

I train show horses for a living and I work with 6 stallions. I always say that I have a healthy fear of them. Few things I learned that have helped me in people situations is even if you're scared don't let them know just keep that fear present but controlled, if you feel something isn't right just get out and if you're going to react then do it and do it fast. Don't second guess yourself. Always be on your toes.

It's not fear. It's instinct. But instinct doesn't work if you go through your day with expectation of outcome. You must be in the moment and in the space...not in your head. I raised my kids with this.

I've been battling a HORRENDOUS sinus infection that's left me with half my normal energy & endurance. I kept having to sit down & take breaks so it took me all weekend, but I went through my medical & personal care stashes, reorganized them & made notes on what needs to be better stocked. Gonna top them off this week when I'm in town getting livestock feeds.
I have already started adding a flat of canning jars to each week's grocery purchases. Finding them last year was like finding toilet paper during COVID. Figured I'd buy ahead of the mad rush.

There is a BIG difference between FEAR and SCARED.
Fear is healthy... its the "danger" bell that says step back, think ahead, play out "if, then, else", sorta like chopping wood, missing the mark could cost a toe. It's a key decision process to keep you moving forward.
Scared is where your body and mind locks out all process. Denial and hide in the closet, hoping that that not deciding, standing in place will make the problem go away.
God helps those who help themselves. Don't lean on a shovel and wish for a hole.

I heard a simple illustration yesterday along the same lines - can't tell you where the quote originated but here it is --- they say that 5% of people think, 10% think that they are thinkers but they're not, and the other 85% don't want to think at all. So many people are just reactive and not decisive. I had to learn the difference a long time ago. Be a thinker, look around and contemplate, listen and discern what is really going on and prepare accordingly.

Good morning Patara! 19 degrees this morning here in middle Tennessee. Thank you for being a voice of reason and understanding. Fear can be a powerful motivator. Mental preparedness is also critical. While I have physical issues that would prevent me from training as you are and I would like to. I have learned I have to be strategic instead. Fear of not being able to physically defend myself is what has motivated me to learn those strategies. My situational awareness is on overdrive all the time. I have always been highly observant. I now immediately look for the nearest escape route or exit anytime I go anywhere. Don’t let your spidey senses go unacknowledged. They are picking at you for a reason.

The Fear of the Lord is clean. Yes my heart needs reminded to put fear in its proper place and let the Good Lord be in charge. I have been slowly building up as much as we can on a limited budget. But it is multiplying and I’m grateful. I appreciate you. God’s peace 😊

It's our instinct - some have lost it, I guess it is the same as gut feelings. Fear gives us a chance to split second analyse the situation. Funny that when you are in a bad situation everything seems to go in slow motion as your brain is racing. Take care everyone and thank you Patara. xx

Redbuds ARE blooming, And so have been the spidie senses...my gut hasn't betrayed me yet...this week will be quite interesting, fear is the catalyst to react in self-protect, family protect...fear doesn't paralyze me, it motivates me...Put grandsons thru Karate years ago because my senses said just in case...that was in the Obama years...trained, ready, still won't stop preparing for the JUST SUPPOSE, scenarios, ALL of them...STANDING firm, not afraid, but being actively ready!

Yep, read it too, several times, definitely some good point, especially for us women who “doesn’t want to offend anybody, be nice now, don’t say no”. We DO need to have discernment - the Holy Spirit can absolutely warn you and show you when “things” are shifting in your surroundings! Good tip Patara❤
Stay safe all, and keep close to God, prepare and warn the ones who will listen. God bless us.

24 here in NW Ohio. Got cabin fever and wanting to get outside and back to work in the gardens . I get out but a big difference when it comes to weather. Sure, a small amount of fear is good. It keeps you alert and focused. I’ve also taken defense classes. My instructor discussed the emotional responses of men vs women. The physical differences and the best responses for a woman. Especially with a person who is sexually aggressive. The best defense is a preemptive offense.

What blows me away is when I see (especially) women, walking with their heads in their phones, texting or even facetiming someone and they're walking and laughing and paying total attention to that little device in their hands. BAD MOVES! Always Keep your Head on a Swivel! Walk with purpose and awareness to your vehicle - walk around your vehicle to make sure no one is in it or a tire is low, etc. And leave your phone alone until you are safe to where you are going!

Well said my friend!! Prepare for the worst while expecting the best. I gain peace when I work towards preparedness. I know I cannot stop what is coming and I know the Lord has my back but He gave me a brain to use for my best interest! For the believers out there who say I don't need to prepare just think about who might be left behind. Maybe we won't need all the extra food bc God is going to rapture us, but those left behind might need it. Think of the sleeping ppl that will be hit by surprise, maybe your pantry will be found by those who are starving and do not want the mark of the bea$t. I heard someone say this awhile back and it is my inspiration in prepping. I hope not to need all the extras but I pray it will be found by someone who did not prepare, someone who needs the food to avoid the mark. I think a few Bibles stashed in that pantry could be helpful as well. I don't know but maybe some very powerful verses should be left among your food pantry or storage. I pray for those that I know will be left behind and my heart breaks for them! God bless you and your family Patara!

I know what your saying. The other night as I was leaving my job, I was walking to my car and for whatever reason I kept my eye on this car, it was a parking isle away from where I was going. As soon as he knew I saw him he started the car, and I turned around to see where he was going and thankfully he just kept on driving by. As far as the preparing, I have asked the Lord to lead me, and I have bought things that soon were going to be shortages that came to light after I bought the items.

I've been watching you for a while and you are very smart and you are very inspiring. I've been prepping for a while also and instead of wasting our tax refund we decided to do some very important things. One of those things we did yesterday and that was, we went to different grocery stores and compared prices and stocked our pantry. We spent $700 dollars on stocking our pantry and another $500 on paying off a few bills. I love you and I thank you for your videos and for your knowledge and passing it on to others. We are also having a bigger garden this year and I plan on canning everything I can. You have a forever fan here in southern ky. Thank you!!

Very timely video. My stomach has been in a knot all morning. I greet every day with a prayer of thanks at sunrise. Biggest challenge seems to be getting any ONE thing done. Most days I roll to the next item on my list as the weather dictates, take a deep breath and get to it. Today feels different. I'm praying on it and looking for direction. Thank you Patara. You do more than you think to keep the motivation going.

Patara, I’ve been watching your channel for a long time now & this one really struck home for me. I’m a domestic violence survivor. I 100% agree fear is good and there can be a huge difference in your outcome depending on whether you plan or panic. When I panicked and didn’t have a plan, I almost died. It was only when I made a plan and stuck to it that my kids and I were able to get away from my narcissist ex safely. I will most definitely be reading that book & finding the same kind of self defense classes near me. Thanks for this video 🙏🏽💜

Btw my daughter was fantastic at the range I need more practice she was incredibly proud of herself and as a mom I was shocked it was her first time in it makes me proud that I've instilled in her certain skills. I will always worry but I know she can handle her friend and take care of herself.

Speaking as someone who has been shot at by people who really didn't want me to be in their country, I have this to say. Mindless fear is something that will get you killed. It will paralyze your mind and make you unable to act.
Healthy fear, turned into caution and rapid risk analysis, is very very good.
