While the original Kenner Star Wars figures will always be my favorite, the POTF2 line was awesome! It's an amazing companion piece to the original Kenner line.

Great to hear a positive video about this line. I loved it! I especially love how much more screen accurate the costume and character designs were. Especially the droids, aliens and vehicles. The best were the R2D2 and Jawa figures with the lightpipe feature. All the ones they came out with that didn't get a figure before were super cool too like Aunt Beru, Uncle Owen, Grand Moff Tarkin, Han Solo in Stormtrooper armor, etc.
Yeah, it was cool that they gave the figures the right names from the games and novels.
I love that they tried to mold them with more dynamic poses too. They looked like they were doing something. They got cooler accessories too.
Yeah, the Speederbike with the Biker Scout with bending knees was super! I remember as a kid thinking it was silly how the original Speederbike made the original figires ride it with the spring loaded leg bar and their legs on top of the bike, so I loved the POTF2 version.
They were great! I collected most of them. Thanks for this cool video!

The walmart exclusive max rebo band pairs, the Rancor and Bantha, and also the shadows of the empire swoop bike and luke in coruscant disguise, if you count the phantom menace, then toss in Wattos Box.. those are my favorites. 👍

Such a fun traipse down Memory Lane, very well done. I was in my mid-20s and pretty broke when PotF2 hit the shelves, and for me it was the lightsabres that sucked me in. As a '77 veteran, I just had to have a lightsabre that actually looked like a lightsabre! I held out until I saw X-Wing [sic] Pilot Luke and then the gloves were off. Then it was the detailed deco on Boba Fett, the Sandtrooper, the Rebel Pilots... And on and on until today.

The POTF2 figures were my beanie babies, I bought a ton of these.

I feel you in the dark ages. It broke my heart. But by this release I was too old, but not old enough. My brother got wave one, and I wasn’t about the buff and posed format. I liked Kenobi and Vader, but I never got any until this year, when I have been picking them up for $1 at the flea market.

I've heard mostly shit-talk about this line from fans and collectors due to the overly-buffed up sculpts and stuff. And while not every fig knocked it out of the park, I genuinely have an unironic love for that kind of toyetic embellishment for something like a Star Wars line. Even outside of nostalgia, I find them to be really strong, fun figures.
And factoring in my nostalgia, these are the toys that were my introduction to Star Wars in general, so they have a huge place in my heart.
As far as standard action figures go, I genuinely think these are better than vintage Kenner. I know older collectors will scoff and balk at that. I mean no shade, of course. That original Kenner run in legendary. But for me, they are of their time while POTF holds up today. I think you could put them on pegs today and they wouldn't read as vintage.

Ah. The line where I started actually paying attention. Orange Cards were the introduction but these are what I always saw in stores in the beginning. Even still, the strongest memory are the shelves of blue stuff from AOTC. Cuz that was just... a whole bunch of crap I didn't want and like 4 or 5 things I really really wanted.

Without this line I would probably not be the SW fan I am today and that would be just sad.
