  • The only body feint you need to learn in football is the Messi Shoulder Drop. Why is that? In this video we explain and show you in detail why the shoulder drop is the most effective body feint ever.
Step by step we uncover why the shoulder drop body feint is so effective, all technical details and why Messi’s shoulder drops differentiate from other football players.
In the first level we show you how to do the basic shoulder drop techniques. How you have to drop your shoulder in the opposite direction, how to follow up with a fake step and how to pretend to drag the ball in the opposite direction. This adds up to engage the defender so that you can change directions and can accelerate into space.
The second level contains specific information about timing. Timing is a crucial factor if you want to maintain possession and if you want to make sure the opponent can’t reach for the ball.
Level 3 is all about the explosiveness that Messi uses to execute his shoulder drops. It starts with a shoulder drop on the opposite side he wants to move, followed by an explosive feint step. After he sees the defender moving in the wrong direction, Messi explosively accelerates in the space he created.
Level 4 is what sets Messi apart from the rest. In this level we explain how Messi is able to persuade his opponents and actually makes them think he is going in a particular direction. Even though his opponents know they will be tricked by Messi’s body feints, Messi is still able to trick them.
    BONUS TIP
Finally we will show you a bonus tip, that uncovers how Messi uses the shoulder drop in preparation to use other skills to get past defenders. For example, La croqueta, Shoulder Drop Chop and the Zig Zag Dribble.
Enjoy the video and have fun practicing the Messi Shoulder Drop!

A piece of advice from someone who has a pretty good success rate with body feints: This skill is easiest to execute when you are moving with the ball and a defender suddenly appears in front of you. You have the advantage of momentum to drop your shoulder and quickly change direction. However, when you are static and facing a defender one-on-one, simple body feints may not be enough to deceive defenders, especially the more experienced ones. You will need to combine them with footwork, such as a single step-over and a body feint. A good example is the move Messi pulled on Nani. All the skills you want to learn and use in a match will become instinctive with a lot of practice. Finally, avoid using skills just for the sake of it.

Just be on your toes for reaction and take smaller strides to keep the ball close and have your knees bent for better explosiveness

Considering you dribble mainly with your right foot...
Is it possible to drop your right shoulder, feint going to the right... Dribble away with your left... I guess it would be difficult to master...
But if we always feint towards the same side and carry the ball to your stronger side... Isn't it going to be obvious???
    P.S. I haven't tried this yet. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking...
Thanks for the video btw... I never understood earlier what the commentator meant by just a drop of the shoulder and he is away...
