I just completed my 3rd colonoscopy few weeks ago. I’m 43 yrs old but my Mom was diagnosed with colon cancer at 41 yrs old. She got colon cancer twice and died at 44 yrs old. This year is the THIRTY year anniversary of her death. I started colonoscopies in my 30’s advised by doctors. Colon cancer is part of nearly 50% of cancer deaths.

A1C is critical. Ask to have it monitored.

I appreciate this segment. However, this doctor is giving some misleading information pertaining to lowering the A1c. Research has proven that it’s not carbs that are the problem, but the insulin resistance, which is caused by fatty deposits in our cells that come from the saturated fatty foods we eat. The carbs are just trying to help us with energy, they are not the cause. Why does she not mention that at all? Our brains need the natural glucose that come from healthy complex carbs.

Maybe she was talking about the unhealthy carbs. Limiting your intake.

Cholesterol is so much more complex than merely setting an arbitrary number as a threshold. Before a statin is considered, one should be analyzing LDL components and ApoB. This whole thing was not about encouraging personal medical empowerment, but more like standard tropes for the medically compliant.

Statins have proved to be useless and cause detrimental health concerns.

Absolutely, it's so empowering to stay informed about health metrics that are crucial for overall well-being. Knowing and tracking key health numbers such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, blood sugar levels, and body mass index (BMI) can make a significant difference in preventive health care. These numbers offer insights into heart health, risk for diabetes, and other conditions. It's also important to be aware of individualized metrics like baseline heart rate and even vitamin levels, depending on personal health goals and conditions. Staying proactive about health by keeping tabs on these figures can lead to early detection of potential health issues, a better understanding of one's body, and a stronger dialogue with healthcare providers. Always remember, knowledge is power, especially when it comes to health!

well said and wholeheartedly agree with you, expect when it. comes to the BMI chart its outdated and does not provide the whole picture making some people believe that they are "overweight" when they're really not can lead to the development of dysmorphia, eating disorders etc.

Colon cancer screening is not quick and easy; maybe she meant a fecal test . Colon cancer screening is a long procedure where they have to give you general anesthesia to do the colonoscopy.

What IS actually critical and contributes to EVERY chronic disease is fasting insulin, yet doctors don’t actually test for it, some don’t even know what it is, and some will say they won’t test for it. When insulin is too high, it leads to inflammation, metabolic disease, and the body being unable to let go of body fat. Every single chronic disease (Alzheimer’s, type 2, autoimmune, IBD, PCOS, cancer, heart disease, etc) is linked to too much insulin and the resulting inflammation.
Get your fasting insulin checked. If your doctor won’t do it, find a new one or buy the test yourself and go to a local testing place. If it’s higher than 5, eat fewer carbs less often and eliminate/minimize sugar, processed food, and seed oils.
