It's been a few days and Nails is improving. He is getting stronger every day. But he is still very itchy and show signs of ringworm fungus. An antifungal bath is just what he needs to kill the spores and continue him on the path of full recovery.

How in love are all of us with this little guinea pig? He is a real character, just too precious. He is doing great! You are doing a phenomenal job and he is soooo much more comfortable!!

He is so so sweet. In the first video I saw of him he was so sad. But he loves the comfort and I know he knows you're helping him. I bet he feels SO much better.

Scott and Saskia, your videos have REALLY helped me care for our piggy. I cannot thank you guys enough! I am a 1st time piggy owner, got him from Petsmart for my son as an early Easter present, and so glad we did. He has become so much more than a pet. Our lil guy developed ringworm after just 3 weeks of having him. I was so upset that the pet store would sell an animal in that condition. I was just at a loss. It was Scott's video and info from the LA guinea pig rescue site that saved our boy! He is doing well, thriving and is the bright spot of our day. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!!! The work you guys do for those piggies is amazing and I will continue watching and learning from your videos.

You are an amazing person! Truly an angel for giving that poor, innocent little babyy so much care and love when he needs it most. I hope he gets better as soon as possible. He is so cute and I love to see his full belly. Somehow I have a feeling that after all this caring for him you might adopt him yourself. :) When you pet him it seems like he really craves it and at the same time it makes him itch. Poor guy. Hang in there, Nails!

It seems like water temperature makes a big difference, a nice warm bath water is very calming

Nails is such a trooper! I'm sure that even just soaking in the bath gave him some relief. It always helped me when I'd have a bad eczema flare up. I feel you, little dude. Goodness he's so precious ❤

Last year I rescued a guinea pig with a similar skin condition but she had a young pup with her so I slathered her with coconut oil and a week later she was pretty much healed and her coat grew back glossy. Maybe you could try it with Nails?
I will look into it. Having him wrapped definitely helps him stop scratching
My guinea pigs has mange too and coconut oil helped with the itching and loosened up the crusts

I miss when my guinea pigs were babies! When I got my two guinea pigs the breeder told us they kept the girls and boys separated. The two I got were both girls but one of them was pregnant when I got her! We ended up keeping the two babies because they were too cute to find them a different home! But now they are all huge!
What a lovely little fellow. He's so tolerant of all the handling and the attention. You can tell that he knows you are helping him and that he's appreciative. You are so wonderfully kind hearted and gentle with him and I look forward to seeing more of your progress in the battle against itchies. You're both amazing. Subbed! :) Oh and your little feathered friend is too cute! So clever with his singing! I have a cockatiel also, as well as a little conure. My conure is an absolute marvel, a total genius and the tiel is sort of... not. Got to love that about him. Its somehow extra charming. :p

@@ScottysAnimals so far not great. Chip (1 yr old conure) just wants to sit near Casper (4 month old tiel) and preen her feathers. Her reaction so far seems to be to accept it for a minute only to suddenly panic and either yell at him and try to bite him or to escape in one of those worrisome panic flights where they don't know where they're going and they need rescue. I am working with them to try limited exposures where they get treats and Chip is too distracted by yummies to get all in her space. It's going to be a journey but they do contact call each other when one or the other is not in the room so I feel there is at least a small bond there to build on and I'm hopeful they will be buddies in time. We shall see!
I use a soft bristle toothbrush to brush off crust on my piggies.
I learn so much from you! We adopted 4 guinea pigs 1 has mites the other has ring worm.....i have 4 kids and a husband that deploys a lot. I didn't want to breakup a heard its also nice to have my kids focas on something other then Daddy leaving. I found an exotic vet and she's the only one in the area, she's booked for 2 months. I've been watching thousands of videos for advice on everything but yours are the most educational. I am starting ivermection drops on the one, do I need to pre treat the others bc they are likely to show signs soon. And how much benadryal cause I know that would help the little tremmers. They now seem happier or they are trying too bc I hope they know they are in as forever home. Thank you so much for sharing you experiance. I was a vet tech 11 years ago before 4kids and we never saw guinea pigs. Plus I've forgotten mostly everything at this point.lol
