Just started this and pausing to comment on "precise language." I just discovered I'm an INTP but this phrase has been in my vocabulary for a long time. I consider it a value and I'm definitely a user of clarifying clauses because of that desire for precision. As I'm writing this, I'm also thinking of my difficulty with someone else trying to represent me. I hate when my husband describes me to someone because it is not accurate to how I see myself. Or if someone needs to respond in writing (like in a text because I'm driving or something) I insist they let the other person know that it's not me because I don't want to be responsible for what that other person might communicate.

"feeling we are right" seems to me the right way to put it. If you scroll back a few quotes where you talked about arranging new ideas into the system of thoughts we already posses I think you can find the answer. It's not just that we arrange the new thought but we rearrange what we already knew as well (or abandon what we thought we knew) in order to give this new idea a relevant place and genuinely incorporate it into our thoughts. I think this also relates to what Jung said about coercing facts into the shape of it's image? Some people say facts speak for themselves but to me that thought is intolerable. Facts hold meaning within a context and while facts are of course facts, they need that context to speak and reveal their content.
The idea that a Ti is difficult to persuade is both understandable and kind of stunning to me. It may be hard to prove us wrong because we have this system of ideas and thoughts that is under continuous scrutiny that formed our convictions, but since it is subject to change all the time I think we are open to and welcome people to prove us wrong and enrich us more then any other type.
So yes we feel we are right, because we don't merely look at the facts but at the world around them giving meaning to them, and we know we can be wrong because we realise that for ourselves and adjust all the time. The sceptic in us is very honest in that regard.
Don't know if I made any sense today, but this is how it seems to work for me.

Lovely video. Thank you! You know the lovely thing I find is that nowadays I am gradually stepping out of the dominant function's restrictions and default modus operandi (I am an INTP). So much of what was described, especially on the social front, I felt I could relate to, but is no longer what I do or have happen to me. I guess the explanation for that is that I am getting to use my Ne more and more. Now that obviously hasn't been easy, and probably never will be, but it's certainly warranted and needed for personal development. Staying in Ti and waiting for people to come and discover my inner world proved nothing but to be a tragic attitude towards life.

A better image for INTP (maybe Ti) is cartographer.
Makers of mental maps of the universe. All maps are matters of detail, requiring precision, founded on principles, yet still somewhat subjective. Both a science and art. Collections of knowledge that can be of great practical use (if someone cares to use it) but also worthy of appreciation in themselves.
Maps are a subjective attempt to understand and represent the world and born out of a sense that with a wide enough lense and sufficiently penetrative gaze, all things can be connected and understood.

I like this idea of cartographer - it's a more concise way of what I was saying with car engines or computers - Ti can be like a cartographer of their system of choice, whether they map out engines, land, computers, philosophical terms etc.

Love the vid! A few thoughts on the “stubborn” and “hubristic” parts from me, an INTP. Here’s a dynamic that’s come up in my life: So, someone is talking and I’m thinking in this very reactive and critical way, which means when I sight a problem and speak up my opinion tends to cut against the status quo or upset the apple cart. And I’m not great at spontaneously and quickly explaining my reasoning. Naturally my interlocutor may want to push back (often in a dismissive or defensive way, which is understandable but perhaps colors their perception of the situation).
And look, this disagreement is not personal for me (at first, though it can become so). Part of me enjoys being proven wrong. That is where the learning happens. And though I may express my views dogmatically, I am not a true believer-that would totally cut against my “question everything” philosophy. Even my most closely held, vehemently expressed theories I recognize as potentially wrong and likely only partially or provisionally true. And I really value the people in my life who can *explain* to me why I’m wrong.
But…most people cannot or do not do that; they just confidently assert that I’m wrong. And although I know that there’s a possibility they’re right, I also know they likely have not thought about it as much as I have or with as much rigor, and/or they have extrinsic reasons to resist what I’m saying (because I’m upsetting the apple cart, and criticizing something they just said, and maybe undermining their authority). So yeah, I’m not going to listen to them unless they show me their work or I know them to be as mentally rigorous as I.
It’s not that I’m stubbornly committed to a belief and not that I think I’m better. Most people are every bit as capable of logically analyzing an issue as I am. But, they’re (most of the time) just not inclined to do it. Thus, I haughtily ignore them haha.

An INTP here. As having even taken a philosophy course in Deductive Logic, I've always been fearful and steer away from deductive reasoning for as long as I can help it. Factual type information to me are temporary data points requiring a skeptical logical foundation to validate.
I do master the principles of inductive reasoning quite well. I see inductive logic as the key to verifying what otherwise can only be assumed. That being the closest tool we have toward expressing our Free Will. I think an idea can only be as truthful as the logic one applies to make the idea itself rational.
I'm an INTP outlier that doesn't seem to conform to the stereotypes of being that of a criticizer or a man of Hubris. I have no desire for in depth knowledge of any specific topic of interest. I avoid jargon and technical topics like the plague, understanding that fundamental design principle of that one should always Keep It Simple Stupid. Social harmony is a fixation of mine. So I imagine that, for me, having strong extroverted intuition and feeling functions might compensate for an otherwise unbalanced Introverted Thinking process that would manifest into those distant and detached behaviors.
Have you seen more of a spectrum of behaviors that describe how dominate TI's interact with their environment? Do you observe more fixed patterns that tend to confirm the literal descriptions of the cognitive function?

There is definitely a spectrum of behavior in my experience. This video defines full force Ti as if it were in a vacuum with no other functions. I have an analogy from my other function videos that I left out here, but if Ti was metaphorically blue paint, maybe someone takes their Ne which is yellow paint, and the overall effect is someone who is green (which they got from some blue and some yellow influences mixed.) Maybe someone's Ti is 2nd so you take some white paint and it's more of a light blue. In general I find that the younger the Ti user is, the more critical and hubris-exhibiting. I find that older Ti users will look back on their younger selves and say things like "I was so stupid then, I thought I knew everything." (generally speaking) When IxTP's are at their best, I've found them to be quite humble - the exact opposite of this hubris.

Intensity and extensity sounds like it can be inversely correlated in the same fashion as Specificity vs. Sensitivity in biochemical tests. In essence it's like a teacher setting the passing score for a school test. If a school test has low minimal grade standards, it can let more students pass but the students that pass might not be the students the test was designed to pass through.
Intensity means raising the passing grade. Extensity is lowering it. Now it seems harsh, but I'd say that it comes to deciding the contents of the test that will effect that, and that should be someone else' job.
And about Ti vs Te... (skipping a lot here for the sake of speed) I think the reason Te feels more tyrannical and the other is the opposite, has more to do with it being paired with Ni. If Because T is trivial. But N is... *checks notes * N is how you make conclusions and extract value from facts.
It's fucking scary when something is wrong. Because it means I gotta either check my Si sensors or I gotta prepare to learn something new that I have no idea is right or not, and will have to go through rigorous testing before I can rely on. This fear is gone if the one giving it to me is someone with personal affection with me, someone I trust.

It avoids blindly believing everything that comes from an (actual or perceived) authority figure, because they too can be wrong for various reasons. I used to think I was extroverted but definitely not anymore although I still care about having a social life although sometimes it's more of like taking my vitamins. I believe my dad is some form of damaged extrovert probably a Fe dom. Some of my extroversion came from seeing that negative influence. After I was married and was forced out of my comfort zone and typical circle I realized I can be pretty uncomfortable in a lot of situations. I also am now very cautious about my words choices after having things not go right often. I don't know it would be my first choice I'm just forced that direction. I do care about accuracy very much. I definitely try to pick holes on my own points of view after having them challenged and also out of fairness and hopes of greater understanding.
However I don't see how hard to persuade is valid. I feel we should be the easiest so long as people can bring higher quality information. I do have a backbone and reputation alone won't do it. I feel hubris is what I deal with constantly especially in authority types.

I typically test as INTP with most systems and I guess I’m playing into it to an extent but I think the pedantic issue needs some greater distinction. For example, when information is good enough and will work, I also think it’s tiresome to get bogged down in irrelevant details. I hate tomate-o/tomato because either pronunciation is so similar and referring to exactly the same thing. What’s the point in caring about it? I also use broad stokes for something like adjacent months for memories. But for details that actually make a substantial difference, those are worth pointing out. Ie if the code or syntax interpreter allows for variance in uppercase and lowercase then use either. If it’s case sensitive then it’s worth pointing out. So let’s say it as sometimes things need to be exact, sometimes they don’t and it’s a waste to put effort into trying to refine them further.

Ah yes, Ti will say things as if it is a fact when it the only real fact is its the Ti user's inner logic. However, whatever function(s) are supporting Ti at the time will impact how said information will be conveyed. Others have told me my "brain is a computer" and the comment always confused me until the explained why it sounded that way. Apparently, when I talk, Ti stacks information it's gathered from Se and Fe to come up with a specific "string of code" to respond with. According to others, they explain that even if they personally disagree, they cannot disagree with the logic because the "computer calculations" are sound. The irony to me however, is my brain is slooooooow and since computers are fast, the comments have always felt like an oxymoron. Ni and Ti are incredibly slow processes but once the final puzzle piece clicks it's as if everything falls into place at once and that's usually when others will hear from us.
I would also like to add something to the "getting entangled in every possible scruple" comment: I've never seen it mentioned anywhere, but I've found this is how Ti can almost sound like Ne if said hesitations become externalized. While an Ti-Ne user will naturally look at every possible angle regardless of the related matter to the topic, the Ti-Ni user will search so far as to make sense of any error in the code. However, in Ni's case, this information must be externalized at some point or else we'll loose touch with reality in and of itself. Generally speaking, this is part of why Ti users can have difficulty typing themselves accurately because we can logically reorder information and bend reality to our will for a perceived singularity. We can internally map anything whether consciously or not but rest assured, when it's mapped, you'll find out about it some way. I suppose though, Fi induvial may have a similar problem typing themselves due to becoming attached to specific labels in a way we get attached to our logic. Making sense of the information in front of either user that screams something else may not be a software we wish to download, thank you very much.
And I'm really loving this series! I'm looking forward to how you will go over the perceiving functions moving forward. I haven't watched the Te video yet, but this and the other two are so well defined and organized. You've always had this wholistic perspective on the cognitive functions over the years and from my vantage point, this might be your most informative series to date. In short, I believe this series will help many individuals questioning their type now and in the future since you are willing to get into the nitty gritty compare-contrast nature with the function similarities. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and great work so far!

I'm just speculating but: I think all the functions are apprehensive when put in an environment that isn't their strong suit. Ti isn't well-equipped (in a vacuum without other functions) for social contacts, and when dealing with the opposite sex there can be a lot of rules and appropriate decorum (Fe things). It did mention that its dread is because it is 'mystical' in nature, a mystery to Ti. I think Ti isn't necessarily well-equipped, but IxTP's come equipped with other functions (like Ne/Se or Fe if worked on) that can compensate for that. I've met many (particularly older IxTPs who have honed their Ne or Se) who appear suave and don't appear to have this apprehension.
