I have an EcoDiesel Wrangler Willys, and it is great on road and off road. I don't know why people repeat automatically that it is not a good daily driver whenever they try to review it. Yes, JK was not that good on the pavement but the JL is pretty good on the pavement.
Not worth it!!!They are going to get a big punch in their dealer pockets just like they did with the gladiator! Now they are looking hiw to get them off the lot!!!Quality wise you cant beat or even touch toyota!!!
Jeep messed up when It did not give an option for a manual transmission in the Diesel Jeep (USA market). We need a manual transmission for the Diesel Jeep
@@Adrian-rn1ym Because its common knowledge that manuals dont sell well in the US? Only 2% of new vehicles in the US are sold in manual. So why would Jeep even waste their time.
Skip the sliding 4000 roof, the leather, the wheels, steel bumpers and a lot of other things and it drops the price where it might be bearable. Yes I am getting the Sahara with the diesel but without all the added items which I have no use for. 8 spd transmission is needed because the majority of buyers want that. Maybe in the future but who knows. My JGC which is a 14 with the Ecodiesel has gotten as much as 33 mpg and as low as 22 but on the average around 27-28 mixed driving. This thing should get 30 mpg and unless you keep it 200K miles you will never get the payback over the gas engine. So what most of us diesel guys don't buy the diesel for fuel economy but for range. I would expect this to go 500 miles easy before fill ups. You are spot on about FCA having just about the best HMI with the controls and displays. Worst has to be Honda and Toyota of which I own and have owned.
You will get most of your money back for the diesel upgrade when you sell it. The better fuel economy is a bonus. I think most people buy it for the torque especially if they're going with bigger tires.
I am surprised that you didn't mention the problem with the very, but very, slow front windshield defroster; which, btw, does not defrost it in its entirety! Jeep must fix this asap! Especially for the sake of buyers/users in cold climates.
Hey or really anyone here. You own a diesel JLU, and I'm currently completely torn on the purchase of the diesel vs alt options. I'm not here to ask you should I get the vehicle, but more so, how has your experience been when it comes to finding diesel in remote places? How big of a concern is that for you, and if it is a concern how are you overcoming this?
Can you feel the weight of the diesel engine? I want the eco-diesel but thats a lot more weight upfront with that engine. Also, any regrets getting the power top?
It should have been a four cylinder diesel with half as much torque (which would be plenty) and twice as many miles per gallon, but alas, the vehicle manufacturers are in bed with big oil and don't want it to be too efficient. Ps - I seriously hope the mustache is sarcastic.
How reliable are these eco Diesel engines by Jeep/ Fiat? I need some reference b4 I even consider buying I keep all my vehcles over 200K, not a poseur that gets Jeeps every few years.
The engines are pretty good and reliable - VM Motori which makes it has been doing it for years. Where some people may have had problems in EcoDiesel or for that matter in any modern diesel vehicles is in the emission systems.
50% of msrp in options 🤑 😖 ... $6k more. The auto spec'd for the diesel is a (forced) $2k option on top of the $4k for the diesel engine. The auto for the gas motors is $1500. The diesel engine needs to be talked about as a package w/the transmission; a $6k package.
How about the $200+ oil changes or $75 diesel fuel filter needed every 20k miles. Or any mods are gotta clear a whole extra network of diesel systems. The Jeep Diesel is a hard pass for me.
I got the Bumper for Bumper for life, all the Oil changes in fluids are Free.. I pay $100 deductible for any damages done to the Jeep down to the seats...
@@mungli9527 good call except the oil filter still cost $65 alone plus the cost of oil. Bunch of dumb people don’t know what they are talking about on here. Part#68507598AA
Modern jeeps have the perfect looks and the perfect abilities. It's too bad the quality is such that modern jeeps also have among the lowest reliability ratings of any vehicle in the world. Capitalism's mantra of maximizing profits at any cost has ruined the legacy of this vehicle. Total shame.
For the new Super Bowl ad with Bruce, it isn't good enough. Not unless Cialis, Stialto or whatever the hell the Companiy's name is brings back a newer version of those two Jeeps with the same quality AND PRICE. And furthermore, without the extra shit tech and accessories that no one really wants. And that is on top of Front-Wheel-Drive, too many doors and a useless bed. No offense to Mr. K.
interesting there are many complaints about no manual it's a bit comical really... what these one-sided so-called drivers forget to consider is 85 to 90 percent of the people now days cannot drive a manual so the carmakers do what is convenient to them and sometimes cheaper I have had dealerships tell me the standard shift is not as economical which in its self is really stupid because if one really knows how to drive the standard is better than the automatic... I started on standard shifts when in high school the first car was 3 on the tree the n4 on the floor... another thing not considered due to injuries, etc I cannot drive a standard shift so the auto is better for me then again the one-sided people do not consider that
It's GREAT if you're one of the very few who can, "have it all", unfortunately life is rarely like that. Life is about trade offs...............getting A, but having to forgo B. That being typed, the tablet-sized "entertainment system", Apple Car Play, USB ports, etc. are 'nice', but I'll take bullet proof engine, transmission, electrical component reliability, and quality sheet metal and welds, ALL DAY, EVERY DAY over heated steering wheels, tablets, USB ports, cup holders, etc. I have not read any reliability rankings however, anecdotally, I see a disproportionate number of late model Wranglers (and other Fiat vehicles) on the side of the road with their hoods up. I like a rugged, masculine-looking, body on frame, off-road capable SUV more than anybody, but I've never driven Moab and never will. Give me a solid, old-school 4 wheel drive system and a decent amount of ground clearance and I'm happy.
Not trying to be sarcastic, but what do you think he got wrong? I’m interested in this diesel JL, so curious what your thoughts would be compared to his.
Sham Rock He is definitely a fake Jeeper or at best a brand new Jeep fan. For example, he started by making a point about the location of the hood stand being part of the hood... he reacted to the ride quality being poor while the JLU has a very nice ride quality (it rides just like a modern pickup truck and not like a car) compared to the last generation JK. Jeepers react to these sorts of comments. He is not a Jeeper. Also, he never referred to it as a JL, made no comments about JKs or older TJs. He made no comments about the mechanical capabilities like the diff locks or the swaybar disconnect, the gearing etc. A “Jeeper” would always make comparisons and references based on past experiences with older Wrangler (JK or TJ etc) models. This was a review by someone who got an opportunity to test drive a fully loaded Rubicon and made a review video about it.

Much better to offroad with an automatic off road. World's and world's and world's better
It’s $6,000 more because of the transmission. I just ordered a 2021 EcoDiesel Gladiator.
Actually it’s the same price as the automatic on the gas engines
When will the delete be available
If they have to change the body to a more aero dynamic shape then it won’t be a Jeep, it’ll be a Yeep 😬

A Plug in Hybrid and one with a 392 HEMI is coming
U have to pay 35k to get the v8 though which is just absurd when u could get an aftermarket v8 for max of 15k
Coming from a jk the on-road manners of these is night and day in comparison. I can’t believe how much better my 21 diesel drives than my 16 Sahara.
Go ahead and try and take that roof off. The manufacturer states its not recommended to remove that top.
The new Bronco is going to hurt Wrangler sales but, Bronco doesn't have the long term reliability yet.

Better miles per gallon! Let's avoid the term gas mileage, since it's a diesel: Diesel mileage :))
Or just fuel mileage

Liters per 100km!
Smiles per gallon
