- A counter-space-saving, sink-insert cutting board is made for a friend from reclaimed maple balusters custom fit and routed to insert into the sink. Scott cuts the balusters to size, preps them, and does a glue-up using his R&R Stackable bench clamps. After planing and sanding the cutting board to a smooth finish, it is cut to size and then the shape of the sink lip is routed with a Festool OF2200 router using a template made from melamine. The cutting board travels 3500 kms from Thunder Bay Ontario to Smithers BC - and fits perfectly. Scott's friend will apply a food-safe finish to the cutting board. Tools used for this project (also listed in the video): Festool OF2200 router, Festool OF 1010 router, Festool CT 36 dust extractor, R&R Stackable bench clamps, Festool TID 18 impact driver, Festool MFT/3 table, Festool Clamping Elements, General International band saw, Veritas low-angle smooth plane, and the Hammer K3 Winner cabinet saw.
Nice craftsmanship! I agree those routers are a beast!
They are. Worth the $$ once you get over the pain.
where do you get your clamping system looks like it wok awesome
Online at www.rrclamp.com they ship them to you. Yes they are awesome. Tell them you saw the clamps on this video. Thx.
What kind of router bit were you using? Looks great and I'd love to make one myself
That bit is either a Dimar 101RC8-19 or a 101RCL8-19. www.dimarcanada.com They're nice bits. I find I get more life out of them than Freud bits. Thanks for commenting! Scott
