About PAIN:
PAIN is an industrial metal project created by Peter Tägtgren, a Swedish musician, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. If you want to hear this story from him, it would be short and straight to the point: “PAIN was just me f'n around in the studio, and it grew into becoming a band.”
Started as a one-man project with all the vocals, instruments parts, and production made by one person… Well, it still is, but not only. It also became a prominent touring group that today consists of, apart from Peter, his son Sebastian Tägtgren (drums), Jonathan Olsson (bass), and Sebastian Svalland (guitar).
Nevertheless, a long time ago, in 1997, when the debut album of the project was released, there was nobody but Peter. By this time, he already had four successful albums with Hypocrisy - and also had some ideas that wouldn’t go with the band’s style.
That’s how the story of PAIN began - the story where 8 albums are known and loved for such smashing hits as ‘End Of The Line’, ‘Shut Your Mouth’, ‘Same Old Song’, ‘Follow Me’, ‘Coming Home’ and many more. This story also contains strong lyrics, rich arrangements, solid melodies, unflagging energy, killing live shows, and big plans for the future.

I remember thinking while listening to this when it first came out: "been watching myself in the mirror for 20 + some years". Now I think "been watching myself in the mirror for 30 + some years". Time really does fly by. Back then I had a lot of people in my life whi has either passed away or just split ways. Hope I can make it to the gig in December, although money is tight right now.

This song is both beautiful and bittersweet. Thank you for sharing it with us. 😭😭 Every time I hear it, it relates to a different situation or point of view.
The first time I heard this song was in '22, right before I went home after not having seen my dad for almost 15 years. He was selling the family home where we lived, where l grew up (after mom died in 2020). Then leaving dad to fly back home to my husband...
We moved back home last summer to be close to dad, after my favorite baby brother was diagnosed with cancer. He beat it, but still needed help.
My parents were high school sweethearts and were married for 48 years. Dad didn't want to live anymore without her. He got tired, and just wanted to go home. So he stopped fighting congestive heart failure, went into hospice and was gone three days later, three months ago, right before their wedding anniversary.
Just wanted to stop by and say thank you for this beautiful song. It is a beautiful, haunting, bittersweet gem.

This is a bittersweet song for me, it works on a few levels- 1. coming home from 1,500 miles away to help my dad move out of the family home where my mom passed away; 2. Going back home to my family, and 3. yes, feeling weary.

Sometimes, even if one has both, it hurts to leave and say goodbye to the ones we love. Sitting in the Denver airport waiting... to go home.

I heard a couple of songs of The Pain accidentally, but never listened until I went to their concert, it was so fucking amazing and powerful, now listen to all albums)

Metal head since 2006. Watched and heard all of Pains songs. This song is a coup de grace, an end of an era of a time of European metal where things were exciting and experimental. Now that times has changed and people and bands are getting older, its an acknowledgement of the end of " our" time.
Think of early lordi, early moonsorrow, agalloch and nightwish, never the same past 2010
I understand what you mean, especially with Nightwish. Was great, they took in a new singer who just simply didn't have the vocal range, so they had to change their music. Now they have a singer who has the vocal range, but they continue with the same kind of music that was meant for the previous one. :(
Though I have to disagree with you, because I think for an example Sirenia's last two albums are way better than any previous ones. And I say that despite loving Ailyn so much.
