- The first half of a delicious jazz concert produced by Paul Blystone on July 28, 2012 at Dominican University at San Rafael, California -- featuring four swing heroes: Rossano Sportiello and Stephanie Trick, piano; Nicki Parrott, string bass and vocals; Hal Smith, drums. Recorded by Michael Steinman for JAZZ LIVES (www.jazzlives.wordpress.com.)
Played in a so virtuosistic way that only a GREAT pianist like her can!!!!!!! I've no words enough to express my admiration for this masterpiece!!!!!😮😮😮. AMAZING
Terrific!! She interprets Fats Waller perfectly. I imagine he would have heartily approved of Miss Trick's performance. She's absolutely wonderful. Fats Waller was an American Treasure and that lives on with his music.
I remember hearing her at Principia College near St. Louis around 2008 while I was a visiting prof. Her skills were amazing then and clearly continued to develop. The double-time passage, classic Fats, really swings.
She makes it look sooo damn easy... Mind boggles!
She played the intro ... interesting but then. She launched into the melody ... tremendous!
She is great !!!!!
as a collecter of jazz and hot dance bands .and I love fats waller..when I first heard you i good not believe water in was seeing and hearing..I thing you are fantastic..I am now 63 years old and don't collect 78s any more but would definitely buy your cds..I wish you all the best for the future..Yours Allan.
Lovely personality, lovely hair, and most importantly, lovely piano playing
Sweet arrangement. Love it when it speeds up, crazy stuff!

Wow, sooo good! I wish I could play like that someday! Wow!
Superbly played !! Love it, Love it, Love it.
Nice, lovely, pleasant. Thank you, Stephanie.
Wonderful. Great harmonic choices. Nice double time on the last B section!
wow , ive been listening to this off and on all day , a job well done i must say
Beautifully done, Stephanie, as usual.
Supurb tribute to Mr Waller. Everything is in there... stylistically it's spot on. Few people will realise how difficult to do and clever that is, especially if your hands are not as huge as Mr Waller's!
Exactly! I can reach a 10th and couldn't attempt this without rolling. She's great.
You are very talented& nice person thanks for sharing!!!
Hey, super special, GREAT-we love it!!!!!!!!!!!
Heinz and Lisa
Fats Waller would have loved this! Miss Trick is terrific!
She's a treasure!
(Fats Waller apart, she has a whole lot of moves that I think are original with her, and at any rate which quite amaze me.)
Fantastic!
Magnificent!!
Une grande virtuose.
Bellisima interpretación!!!
Superb/ Great fun.
Merveilleux.......quel talent....!!!

👍 👍 👍
Sthefanie is a virtuose
Nice to see young talented people playing Fats Waller, Im 60 years old and most people my age never heard of Fats. I bought a Fats record when I was in high school on RCA called Ain't Misbevin,at a used recors store, have loved him ever since still have the record. Fats got a bad rap because he recorded a lot of shit because he was forced to and he died young
Don Buck I have an old 78 rpm of Fats Waller playing Ain’t Misbehavin and it’s analogue Sound is much richer than current digital versions. Stephanie does a fantastic job.
I have the 1956 RCA record there is a little of echo on it but it's ok in my opinion allways loved Fats and I think Stephanie is great
So di I but my copy was on an LP from 1956 on RCA
isn't she lovely---& talented,:Lucky Paulo;lol
Does anyone know of sheet music for this song that has an intro that resembles this one? Love it.
oooh, so feminine. I've never heard it quite like this. Lusciously liquidy smooth. Like sucking on a piece of chocolate while strolling the Avenue on a spring day.
So poetic!
Yes it is ! Chocolate icecream on Sunny day
do you have a cd out yet?
Everyone pick up your drinks and take a big Fats Waller!
Fats and Stephanie. That says it all
what key is that in and is that sheet music or improv or both?
Laughing out loud here in U A E at this comment of yours but am from Uk 😊😀😁😀😊👍✅🙏🙏🙏🕊️🕊️👁️👁️
How is she hitting those 10ths without rolling(mostly) ? I can hit 10ths in most keys but there is no way I can get that Fats fullness? So how?
Find her website and ask her yourself! I am sure she will tell you, very politely. Maybe you can arrange for a Zoom lesson if you are really serious.
@@swingyoucats .. Thank you!!!! It's in the voicing and she is extremely quick at rolling the 10ths. Beegie Adair is similar. She voices her tunes to sound like she is hitting wider spans than she really is.. It's a gift.
Fats would love this rendition.
Thin blue line

A shame the acoustics aren't better. The piano sounds like the one you get when little kids are learning to dance in a school hall. The pianist is great though.
Great performer. This is not one of her better UA-cam videos. The microphones are poorly placed, way too much room sound, including the audience.
Dear Mr. Mar, the sound one captures from the balcony of a live theatre is not the same thing as a closely miked recording studio, so it is silly to judge one on the standards of the other. Perhaps you should request a refund from the videographer who isn't up to your standards? Just a thought.
