It’s great that they opened the cutie mark day camp they brought up in Fame and Misfortune. I especially enjoyed the fact Thunderlane is a Wonder Bolt.
Guess what Rumble really needed was an example from his big bro that there is more to a pony than just a cutie mark. Plus we've seen that in other ponies. Twi and Dash like reading, Starlight likes kites, Maud likes stand-up comedy, etc. Also, Nice haiku there, friend I had hoped you would say one Great commentary ^^ /)
12:30 yeah, here's where I stopped sympathizing for Rumble. Not wanting his own mark is fine, but making others feel bad about what they might get their own Cutie Mark for? No. That's pre Crusaders of the Lost Mark Diamond Tiara attitude right there
Autum Breeze Dude...blame his brother, not Rumble. His brother was FORCING Rumble to go to a cutie mark camp when he obviously doesn't want a mark. If i didn't wanna go to somthing because it's against my ideals, I'd probably do the same thing! I never wanted to be there, I'm forced to be there so screw you I'm taking over and twisting people into my ideals. Your fault not mine. If Rumble didn't want to go he shouldn't have been forced to. Exactly what you said, he doesn't want his mark, but did you miss that his brother is MAKING him go? He doesn't want to be in a place where no one shares his ideals, if anything his brother sending him to the camp by force is forcing cutie mark ideals on Rumble, so Rumble pushed back. It's only fair. Look at it this way, think of Christian parents forcing someone who is an Atheist into a Christian camp, I'd want to corrupt the camp since I'm forced to go ther but don't believe in it. I'm not going to be forced to participate in somthinh i don't belive without a fight.
Hey T. Of course I'm going to see the movie. The funniest thing is that it's not airing (or at least it's not announced) in the theater I usually go to (and I realize I need to see more movies in the theaters), I have to go to a smaller theater that specializes in indie and foreign movies (as well as a couple of arthouse ones). On the plus side, this theater gets it a day early (albeit late at night). (4:22) Vincent Tong gets all the douchebag roles, doesn't he? (6:08) And let's sing along! "Oh, I'm a happy camper. I love the sun and..." Guys you're not singing. Then again, considering the song, maybe they shouldn't. (7:39) Oh boy... She'll grow up to become a crazy Cloris Leachman living in a teapot on top of a tree. (10:03) Oh boy. I was like that when I started college. Not wanting to study any other subjects other than Computer Science (I ended out dropping out and looking for another venture. Still with computers) because I didn't want to be "tricked" into a profession I didn't want. Not my proudest moment. (13:07) I'm being reminded of Hyp's song from Land Before Time 3 (and yes, that one was actually good). (15:04) And then, at this very moment, some musical notes appeared on Rumble's flank. I've never seen anyone or anything so proud of their ineptitude outside of the Suicide Squad movie. (18:15) "Well....can't have two of them. Right?" (19:56) *sings* "It's an Inky-Dinky Doo Dah Morning..." What? I have to sing something awful on this side. Is there any wonder why fans want Rumble to meet Starlight?
Hey, silver lining, lol 1. Well, I don't think it's necessarily fair to label all his roles as 'douchebag'. The only two that I feel truly apply are Blueblood and Garble. 2. Ah, the traditional camp singalong, lol 3. 'Fraid I don't understand that one 4. I thought I wanted to be an art major, but decided to switch to an English major further on 5. It's been ages since I've seen that one 6. The ultimate irony, lol 7. Haven't seen it, and I honestly don't really plan to 8. Not unless you catch cutie pox, lol 9. It was already a risk singing that well before, lol So she can have another reminder of the way she used to be? I feel like the poor girl's had enough of that already.
1. Not necessarily, but these two are his most memorable ones. Also Feather Bangs (Spot-on Justin Bieber impression) 2. Straight from Sleepaway Camp. 3. It's from "The Oogieloves and the Big Balloon Adventure". A batshit insane movie aimed at toddlers (the producer described it as Teletubbies meets Madea Goes to Jail. Yes really). Cloris Leachman's character (what was she doing in this movie?) was an old grandma obsessed with circles. Cinema Snob made a review of it, as did Bobsheaux if you're curious. 9. Well, this song is so ridiculously catchy that maybe it would get Rumble dancing Then again, Rumble's philosophy was the polar opposite of Starlight's, so...who knows.
A good episode Fun and interesting too Everyone's grown up I will admit I'm glad I'm not the only one who'll likely have to wait for the movie. (Doesn't come out over here until the 20th, avoiding spoilers is not going to be fun!) Back on point though, I think we needed an episode like this after the intensity of last week. Relaxed, giving the spotlight to new ponies and seeing the CMC at their best. I'd still like to see a proper episode focusing on Pipsqueak though.
Nice haiku. Feels almost a requirement after this episode, lol. And yes, this was a nice change of pace after the suspense and anxiety of last week. One does wonder what Pip's meant to do. I'd like to see him get his mark one of these days.
1. 2:09 I can't believe I didn't recognize that Camp Friendship name! How could I possibly forget about that filly with the golden singing voice? 2. 2:54 "How is Thunderlane doing?" Very well, apparently. Spitfire can smell what the Lane is cooking. ;) 3. 6:22 [At least it's not ice archery, lol] Would _you_ trust a bunch of colts and fillies with ice arrows? 4. 6:39 Most bored-looking photoshoot model ever 5. 10:12 "Having a cutie mark doesn't mean you can't ever do anything else. Lots of ponies do things unrelated to their cutie marks!" Rarity doesn't put gems in _everything,_ after all. Only, like... 90% of everything. 6. 13:00 "He's a great singer..." Is he going to grow up to be a great waifu stealer, too? :) 7. 15:06 "I hate to admit it, but that was a pretty catchy song." It would have been hilarious if Rumble had gotten a cutie mark for singing right after singing a song about how great it is not to have a mark. 8. 16:04 "He's pretty damn charismatic, I'll give him that." Maybe Rumble will get a cutie mark in poli-- Actually, I take that back. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. 9. 21:04 Callback to Hearts Strong as Horses? 10. 21:35 Sweetie Belle: "...A Wonderbolt obstacle course! Just like the one they'll fly through in their upcoming show." Scootaloo: "But on the ground, since not everypony has wings." Scoots can relate to the non-flying races more than she would care to admit. 11. 23:17 "This camp really was a great idea." You didn't doubt Starlight Glimmer, did you? :)
Definitely gives us interesting food for thought. 1. I wonder how AJ must've felt knowing her little sister and her friends decided to use it for their day camp. Probably full of pride. Wouldn't be surprised if she wrote to RaRa about it, too =) 2. I'll bet every Bolt looks forward to chow time when it's Thunderlane's night to cook 3. Absolutely not 4. 'Draw me like whatever you want. I don't care.' 5. True. Granted, I wonder how much that percentage has changed since Maud gave her the cold, hard truth about the gems she's been harvesting. 6. Pfft, good grief. I've seen stuff of him being paired with Scootaloo, but something would have to happen in the show for me to fully buy it. 7. The ultimate irony, lol 8. Tell me about it 9. Heh, perhaps. I didn't even think of that 10. Poor Scoot. 11. Of course not. The camp itself proved to be a good idea. It was just Rumble's cutie mark crisis that threw a wrench in things for a little while.
4. I am so glad I live alone because I just laughed loud enough to wake up everyone within a fifty-foot radius 5. If Maud is cold, would that make Discord a victim of freezer burn? 11. You could also say this mess was indirectly Thunderlane's fault for pushing his brother into something that he didn't want to do.
4. Pfft, really? Glad I could make you laugh, then =) 5. I'd say so, lol 11. Which makes one wonder: if Thunderlane knew Rumble was unwilling to try new things since he became a Wonderbolt, why didn't he try to talk to him about it before? Did he think Rumble wouldn't listen?
This is a frustrating episode for me. I don’t enjoy watching it all the way through-it upsets me too much. Not just because of what Rumble does, and the foals who listen to him, but because not once does it occur to anypony to talk to Starlight Glimmer; this would have been a great opportunity for her to use her past experience hating cutie marks to help a younger pony. Plus I didn’t feel that Rumble’s happy ending was earned; he didn’t seem sorry for what he did wrong, he just stopped doing it. But what makes it frustrating is that, if those problems and difficulties were resolved, I might have really enjoyed this episode and taken it to heart because of its message. A big part of the reason why I haven’t tried anything in life is because I have trouble narrowing down the things I love doing and am good at-and I don’t want to give any of them up unnecessarily. But how do I narrow those down to my “one true purpose”? I believe I’m meant to be a philosopher and apologist because it was philosophy and apologetics that led me back to the Catholic Church. And while it’s taken me years to take the hint, I have been a cantor at my church for years, and I love to sing. But there are other things I love: when I was little, the best activity to keep me entertained was drawing, and I’ve done several comics (though only in pencil draft form; I haven’t published my favorites). And while it’s been decades since I stopped (and I’m now overweight and out of shape), as a kid I took taekwondo for years and got a red belt. And when I started, I intended to go all the way until I got a black belt: the only reason I stopped is because of the Fluttershy in me. They put me at the front of the class and wanted me to help other students with their form, which made me very uncomfortable-so I quit. But I still remember Basic Exercise #1. And there are things I wish I could be, but I don’t really put forth the effort required for them, which makes me think that maybe they’re not for me as I’d hoped. For years I used to think I wanted to be a paleontologist and museum curator. Now I think the closest thing to what I was thinking of is designing a dinosaur-themed dark ride, like for an amusement park, but even that desire has fallen by the wayside. And I still haven’t gotten over my wish to be a fantasy writer, even though I don’t even read much fantasy fiction, at least not much modern fantasy fiction. (I read the Harry Potter series, but that alone doesn’t qualify me to write in the same genre.) Which is a shame because I’ve had an idea in mind for eight years that I think could really be special if I could just get it out of me-but I’ve tried several times and just gotten a bunch of false starts. I think I’m more of an idea person, rather than being good at executing my ideas by myself. That’s the biggest reason this episode is so frustrating to me. I need to learn the lesson here and take it to heart, but the particulars of the story just rubbed me the wrong way. I wasn’t even able to appreciate any shout-outs to “West Side Story”, and usually this series is good at making me like such things (I like Mudbriar but I don’t like Sheldon Cooper, for example). Please excuse the ramble, and thank you for indulging me.
2:45 Don't you already have your cutie mark?XD But I guess it's also about helping other fillies with their cutie marks. :) 6:52 I've actually never heard of an Haiku before, let's see if I can make one:) (down below in this comment) 10:16-10:19 In the same way people can have hobby's that don't have anything to do with their jobs 13:08 Do you hate snakes?(I do) 17:13 And her name is SWEETIE Belle! XD Your video's rock! They put a smile on my face! Keep up the good work!
1. Heh, right. I'd love to be there just to help out and join the fun, like a counselor. =) 2. I think you did a fine job. Haikus aren't always easy to write. 3. Exactly, and like how bronies aren't confined to pony-related stuff 24/7. 4. I'm very ophidiophobic, yes. 5. The nicest people and ponies are the ones you never want to make angry, lol Thanks =)
I’ve mixed feelings on this episode. On one side, I like the idea that the CMC are taking their idea of hosting a camp for other foals in hopes of helping them earn their cutie marks. On the other side, I did not like how Rumble was forcing his selfish ideas on the foals, thus ruining all of their fun. I’m just glad he saw the light in the end, thanks to Thunderlane and the CMC. It’s a good episode, just not one of my favorites.
SpacialRend7 He wasn't forcing anything. They didn't have to listen but they did, that's on him. And his ideals aren't selfish, they are actually very valid, and younger ponies SHOULD look ahead before rushing into getting thier mark. In all honesty, the fear of being trapped in one thing your whole life is a very valid fear and should be thought about.
love how thunderlane looks with the wonderbolt uniform

Thanks. Same to you on _that_ haiku. =P

This to me is the second best CMC episode
What's the best?
I wonder if we'll get an episode where the pegasus twin sisters Flitter and Cloudchaser are foalsitting for Rumble ?
But does anybody know what is that rumbles voice change so did pipsqueak hmm maybe because they’re getting older
Not my favorite episode, but the most thought-provoking episode of the season thus far, imo.
