I am currently a Junior in college and going through the process to become an officer in the Marine Corps, with hopes to be selected for the Combat Engineer MOS at TBS. I also am a volunteer firefighter at my local fire department. A part of me has always wanted more from the fire service. Perhaps after my time in the USMC I can return to the fire service and make it a career. Capt Kalt is a true inspiration to me. Great video.
@@anthonymazzeo1167 it’s been about 5 years since I got out. Pretty much my advice. Do it, it’s not the Marine Corps but it’s the closest thing to being amongst a group of guys that have the same mentality. I got tired of my sales job and started to seek for something. The academy ain’t no USMC boot camp but it’s fun. Lots more academic stuff, but it ain’t too hard. PT isn’t too bad. PFT for my academy is 1.5 mile run, pull ups, push ups, plank hold, and air squats. Easy day. Look for city fire departments that are hiring. They usually have their own academy. They usually pay you as a cadet going through their fire academy and you can also apply you GI BILL too.
Gladiator0719 my marine recruiter took me to LA to go to a place called MEPS to swear into the marines and when he picked me up the next day he took my to get food and I noticed a lot of people making disgusting faces towards us as if we where monsters it's a pretty bad place for the military I don't know why they have this mentality that we are monsters but oh well and also thank you for your service and I wish you the best :)
Captain Kalt! I had the pleasure of serving with this Hero in Fallujah.

Speaking from personal experience don't waste your time in the marine corps bud just stick to the fire
