John Lennon could be pretty dark. In his bio. he said he was so desperate to get a career in music that he was willing to sign a deal with the devil, and he would kill if he had to. I think the Beatles signed a contract that required them never to speak of Jesus. John mentioned Jesus once and there was an uproar and he had to apologize. Personally, I never liked the idea of signing any kind of contract that would limit my free speech. I think the pressure of not being able to explore and speak his mind drove him a little crazy, and as soon as he was out of his Beatles contract, he went a little crazy and got into all the antiwar and bagism stuff. He felt a little embarrassed about it later, but he kept moving forward into a more peaceful domestic life and he produced a fine album before he was shot. I read he was writing to Billy Graham about Christianity. I think having a kid of his own changed his outlook on life a little for the better.
