Thank you Josh and James for the insightful interview. I've enjoyed more than 3,500 hrs of play and I love the game. I'm one of those players that am grateful, James, for your wish fountain addition. I do not like combat. It physically stresses me out and I get ill. I use peaceful mode from the wish fountain. I'm sad that the new update has eliminated peaceful mode in most of the mines. I understand your desires for combat, but if I had one request it would be to have more than one way to obtain items and recipes in the game. At this point, I am unable to get the things from the red chest in the new mine level and I feel like I'm missing out on a portion of the game. I would be thrilled and so appreciative if there was a another way to get those items. Thanks James for all your hard work and love for your game. It shows in its quality and enjoyment. Much appreciation from this player :)
I loved Animal Crossing but I actually enjoy Dinkum even more. There is so much to do and you always feel like you're progressing and your town is getting better. It's obvious when you play that the game is important to James. He just keep making it even better.
So lovely to put a lovely face to the lovely voice of lovely James Bendon. I love Dinkum and have played it for almost a long as it's been available. Can't recommend it highly enough. 😊🥰
Dinkum is a fantastic game. I personally love the decorating aspect. Hoping for more placeable items such as Outside doors gas pumps lifeguard chairs surfboard golf clubs volleyball nets and additional outdoor furniture. Love the game and the Dinkum community.
Fantastic episode!! I was so interested in hearing from this dev as I absolutely love Dinkum. A big thank you from the fans to him for participating :) And a great conversation, you did such an amazing job interviewing!
I had the best time playing Dinkum with my husband! We were constantly so impressed that one developer was able to create such a big game with so much to do. I feel like we racked up an embarrassing amount of hours the first week we got it. This was a really fun episode! I really loved hearing James Bendon talk about his passion for his craft and his appreciation of the Dinkum community. And Josh, you asked so many great questions; it made me really want to play Dinkum again!
I have to admit I bought Dinkum as a filler game till I could find something to take the place of the game I was playing at the time and was absolutely blown away by everything about it. You are right Josh, the game felt really polished with very few bugs and even the bugs had safegaps so you didn't have to reload. I would love to see James incorporate adding Illawarra flame tree flowers to the bottle trees in summer to take up the mantle from the glorious Jacaranda trees in Spring. As an Aussie I was expecting to cringe when I played the game but I am seriously impressed with how accurate it is aside from the Bush devils blowing fire. I have some living on my property (in Tasmania) and thank goodness, they don't breath fire or my insurance would rise exponentially. Awesome game, brilliant content creator and can't wait to see what his next game is. I will buy it sight unseen after playing Dinkum.
I am sad I missed this live. Kids in the town would be fun . Also if we could use all these seashells for something like paths or such . Thanks James for a great game.
Dinkum is the first game I've played where I'm not restarting over and over again, and I think it is all because of the decorating aspects. Like with this mini Go Go Town crossover update I decided to build a unicorn race track on my island, and with 1,000 hours in my one island I already had most of the building supplies to do it.
I started playing Dinkum since the first release, and I love watching the game grow throughout the seasons. The game has many new quality-of-life features and overall new items I'm obsessed with!! I'm also learning so many new things along the way... like who knew you could stun magpies/cockatoos and trap them!! My gosh, it happened by accident too. Great Interview Josh and James!
I’m so excited about everything I heard. I’m one of those players who love to build and I’ve been craving more villagers to just walk around and use my creations
This was awesome podcast, fantastic questions asked met with fantastic answers James gave us, I have Dinkum but haven't played it for a long time, over a year now, and I have so much backlogs to catch up on, but knowing that next time I'll play it and starting a new island, it will have seasonal effect so that is very exciting for me. Thank you Josh and James for a great chat. Not long til a very busy but exciting November month, tons of games and I'm so happy to see the love for Luma Island, I'm absolutely beyond excited for Luma Island.
Thank you for a great interview! James: I love Dinkum! I am on my third file save and still go back and forth between the other two😊 I love all the new additions in this update❤
I haven't played Dinkum because I'm waiting for the full release, but this made so excited! I'm looking forward to experiencing 1.0 and sinking lots of hours into the game
13:45 omg😱 that would be awesome!!! I AM OBSESSED with decorating in Dinkum and while I do the regular progression on one of my islands, I absolutely decorate to my heart's content on my other island❤
Great conversation with James and more insight into creating a game and upcoming for Dinkum. I've never played it personally and might not play it (due to time constraints and a huge backlog), but this podcast episode definitely makes me want to give it a shot.
Love Dinkum but was shocked I got attacked by plants and grubs in the mine with peaceful wish . But I got the diving helmet so good for now. Loved your interview with James.
@@KralpexExell I did that, but the hammer is too slow. I took way too much damage trying to defeat them. I'm also not that great at fighting so that's a factor.
@@smallfrypunk3647 You gotta use food to buff your health so you can take a few hits, and then hit the grub spawn point with the hammer, the AOE will take out most of the grubs coming at you while you do it
So glad to put a face to the game! Enjoy Dinkum so much like 4000 hours much. My favorite part is ability to change biomes as I am not able to handle jungles and so many games choose that biome. With Dinkum you can make it a forest and just leave enough jungle for resources. Thanks for doing this video.
Best game I've played in years. There's so much to do and because it is so complex, you feel like you'll never be done with it. Most games, after 60 hours, you're done. In Dinkum, you're just getting started.
Great video Josh and James is such a nice man! The only reason I haven't played this is because of the way the characters talk (similar to the squiggly animal crossing vibe.). I have misophonia and certain noises I absolutely cannot stand, so this is a no-no for me. If there was a way to turn this off I would be straight in there! Thanks again for the video!
I used to love playing this game. 450 hours of play time, but now only 50% of the time it launches or it just hangs there and I have to turn my pc off. 😞
I keep giving up on Dinkum because I can't do enough in a day. I know there's some pocket watch or something, but I don't want to stop exploring areas just because the day is done. That's what I hate about Stardew Valley, being rushed...
Haven’t played this game yet but I really want to when I have time and have finished my current game! Also Can you talk about the kickstarter for my time at evershine again?

I second that! i am so disappointed with the changes to the peaceful wish and for similar reasons! I really don't understand why he did it.
Hear hear!

Thanks Josh and James for all the fun talk here. I love Dinkum so much. Dinkum on people!

It's so exciting to see James on! I liked hearing the conversation. Dinkum is one of my favorite indie games!

No way OMG!!!!! Whaaaatt!? I've been so obsessed with Dinkum lately! This is great!
Just stumbled across this my feed. Hi Josh and James! Really enjoyed this interview to get more insight into James’ brain.
This was the dev I wanted to hear from most! Awesome vid.

Thank you Josh and James for the interview. Great so see you both together. Come to the dark side- we have Dinkum! 😁

51:55 I keep going back to this episode because of what James said! "Making games is more fun than playing games!"

Passion, that is what is missing from all so-called "AAA" games. Indie devs are usually more passionate about their game and it shows.
Great interview. You can feel the love he has put into this game which makes it so special

Ahh absolutely love dinkum!
Dinkum is awesome. Looking forward to finishing this after work tomorrow!
great interview and JAMES! thanks for such a amazing game and wonderful hot hot hot update!
I would love it if villagers would move into a house and become a citizen and just roam around, maybe have some tasks they need help with.
I love this game!!!
I am glad that the game has combat. I LOVE IT ❤️

Ooooo exciting
You asked really good questions! Bravo :)
I would love to see npc quests. Great game!
Dinkum is the BEST game
More decorating less mandatory combat! it's okay to evolve your initial idea when players want it
I haven’t played dinkum since I heard there was an energy bar
