Hi Everyone! Today I'm sharing my thoughts on the new Shalimar Millesime Tonka (and comparing it, briefly, to last year's Shalimar Millesime Vanilla Planifolia) as well as giving my first impressions of Oud Nude, Cherry Oud, and Herbes Troublantes. I don't know why, but i am finding it hard to get enthused about this line. That probably has more to do with oud than Guerlain. Thanks for the video Tara.
Yeah, it wasn't on my radar either and I don't really think it warrants much excitement given the two I tried.
This made me put on Shalimar today. Home alone in all my vanilla glory!!!
Herbes Troublantes is a re-release of Un Dimanche à la Campagne, which was a cologne concentration. It was rarely talked about for some reason but it is a peaceful and comforting fragrance that very much matches its original name ("a Sunday in the countryside"). I own and adore that one so I'm glad it will be available, even if in a different, far more expensive form. I can't wait to try the Shalimar Tonka, thank you for sharing!
I agree with your point about the Shalimar Millesime Tonka being close to Tonka Imperiale. It's less bitter and more creamier. For me the new Shalimar is like a mix of Tonka Imperial and Cuir Beluga. I find it really nice! Oh how I wish I could find Shalimar 2021...

I haven’t tried any of the of the ones you have reviewed🤔🤔. However I received Millesime Vanilla Paniflolia in a sample swap and I use it very sparingly😍😍. Pity we don’t have access to all these new releases over here😱😱. Awesome review👌👌. Stay gorgeous🥰🥰.
No civet! 🥳 That was the one note in original Shalimar that I could detect so strongly that it scared me from trying ANY Shalimar flankers. I scare easily. Might try to smell this one!

I wish that Guerlain was more widely available in stores. I would like to sample more of their scents, but don't like ordering samples. 😆
I agree! There is no one around here where I can test them.
Same in denmark.. Only Sephora has a few from Guerlain and only the “classic” oldies. Would love to smell the Tonka one 😛
How about that I just finished watching one of your videos and lo and behold you popped up with another one. I’d like to try the Shalimar Tonka. I no longer own the original, long gone, so hopefully it won’t influence my nose. Loving the top.

Millesime Tonka - I agree with the comparison with Tonka Imperiale. I am grateful and relieved it does not have the animalic accord of the OG. This is a masterpiece. Plain and simple.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one, Tara. I'm considering getting one and as it's out of stock at the moment I just decided to watch some reviews. What you say is true, some say it's close to Shalimar, and some others like you say it's not that much.
Hey Tara 🤗 I just ordered the new Shalimar it would be my first so hopefully I'll enjoy it! I'm not a fan of any of the new Oud fragrances by Guerlain they just don't work for me especially Oud Khôl 😅

I didn’t expect the new Shalimar to be very Shalimar-y because last years Planifolia wasn’t very Shalimar-y either. I bought the tonka version last week and just bought another bottle because is close to tonka imperiale but denser and much more long lasting than tonka imperiale. It’s a delicious easy wear and I agree with you that I loved much more once I wore it more
I really wanted the Shalimar one but it's sold out everywhere 😭 I've been on the hunt for a vanilla tonka that is feminine and not masculine leaning. Sounds beautiful 💕

I am on a waiting list for the Shalimar Millesime Tonka and I REALLY hope I can get it because apparently I'm on a second waiting list for a second order that might not get filled!
I would love to try it. I like gourmand and i like tonka but may not like it since i dont like Shalamar and also hated Guerlain Coquin maybe Guerlain is not for me but i do love Aqua Fizz lol I also want to try Oud Nude

I couldn't find the Shalimar Millesime Tonka in any Canadian store or on the Guerlain website. That was disappointing. I am going to have to make due with the Tonka Imperial, which I still love. (Too bad this line of fragrance has become very costly). I haven't smelled the new oud fragrances yet, there isn't a boutique in my city. It may me that I can get a sample with my next purchase. (Although it doesn't sound like most content creators are very impressed with the new releases). Herbes Troublantes sounds line it could be a good fresh fragrance. Thanks for your review and opinion on these fragrances! - Jenn

I certainly did hear that the newest Shalimar is closer to....Shalimar. Or as a like to call, Hail Mars. 😆 Yeah, anagrams. 🤓 I did get to try Herbes Troublantes though and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rosemary-mint combo is very well done. Was a bit redundant in my collection though, so no bottle me get. Basically a re-bottling of an old fragrance I've heard. And extremely light on me!
I tried Herbes Troublantes in store a couple of weeks ago. I fell in love with it, but the weather is warming up here so I was thinking it would be beautiful for summer. I didn’t even try the oud ones! 😅
I have loads of Shalimar, lol. So many formations and vintages as well as the flankers but I missed out on this one and I'm so mad. I found Vanilla Planifolia to be as you say, the most different from the original but it is lovely. Lasting power is the worse on me with that one. I am on a wait list to get the one that sold out in a freakin day! I hope there actually will be more. I have tried the Cherry Oud and it was oud with a bandaid medicinal smell to me, so I wasn't too interested in that one but oud isn't my thing for the most part anyway. I want to try the Herbes Troublants! oxJulia
I just don’t feel any excitement towards these ouds, usually anything new from Guerlain has me intrigued but this feels a bit gimmicky, like they’re trying to get on the ever popular Oud train but the train already left the station. Thanks for great first impressions Tara ❤

I feel so out of sync with everyone on cherry oud 😅 I like cherry and haven’t been able to find one for me. I don’t like TF Lost Cherry - it was a little sour on me, & I never felt like it had depth. And I HATE almond as a note. That rules out sooo many cherry perfumes. On my skin Cherry Oud starts out with a bright airy cherry & hardly any rose. This cherry note stays as the oud kicks in - a clean woody oud and I think I have finally found a cherry perfume that suits me! I wish it wasn’t sooo expensive…I am interested to hear how these wear on your skin. I found the almond in oud nude to wear off quite quickly and almost dry down to a sandal wood (like Santal royal). Sorry for the essay. Does anyone else like cherry oud…just me…!?!?
Which one do you like the most out of the three? I received the tonka version today. On my skin it stays heavy leather and bitter almond and a hint of vanilla and some smoke. There is not a huge diiference in the dry down it stays linear. No sweetness and hardly any bergamot. It is a gourmand in a cold sharp way to my nose
I’ve got to be very honest: I don’t think I’d enjoy any of these two releases as I am just not the vanilla or Oud kind of guy. One wearing of Tobacco Vanille in summer that made me feel sick to the core somehow has made it very difficult to find vanilla-centric fragrances that I can enjoy. A touch of vanilla is ok, just not too much.
