- Otaku Katsu is serving Japanese-style sandwiches, and New Yorkers are lining up to try them. With a 350-square-foot restaurant, the chef and owners are keeping the menu small to focus on quality comfort classics they know and love, like the egg-salad sando and katsu sando. The BEC Katsu, a twist on the classic, is also very popular.

“The place is packed” well yeah if it’s 300 square feet then that’s not hard
Exactly
😂😂😂😂

Lol
Do New Yorkers line up for everything?
Seems like it.
Also overpay for everything.
Only the ones that moved here not the native New Yorkers 🙃
Basically. So many people living in such a small area.... most places are tiny and many over priced. So finding a good, worth your money, comfy kind of spot really does pick up notoriety.
Let's use our brain for one second, you have small places, it's a city so there's no parking for cars, people are on foot, lots of people in a highly densely populated place, hmm, I wonder why there are lines?
As someone who have been to Japan many times. This restaurant is shaming Japan in many ways 😂😂 considering the "price", can't they make a better representation of the food? All of this food can be easily bought in Japanese convenience store for cheap! 😱 The least they can do is to make it look just a tad bit fancier. Or make it cheaper!
They have to pay for the building somehow. NY is really expensive
Welcome to new york
Tokyo is not that cheap either bro loool it is almost same as New York
Anyone else triggered by the empty space on the bread when they spread the egg filling?
No, as someone that makes my own egg salad sandwiches I learned fast that if you spread it all the way it leaks out like mad, doing it that way when you press down it evens out and doesn't spill out.
Honestly I hated to see that bit of egg that reached the end but got cut off with the crust. RIP o7
Love to try these kind of new fusion food. 💕
She mentioned her mother so many times I forgot who she was reviewing 🤫....I’d be a lil salty if it were my restaurant especially when she says “My moms egg sandwich is better”
Jooo-C Froot that’s what I thought too! What if we review her moms sandwich and say it’s not as good as our moms or the neighbors mom, that was soooo rude!
Food is personal. So food memories play a big role in what we perceive to be good or better. She's just respecting her mom. Try eating with Italian's. Absolutely nothing is better than the way their mom made it.
You seriously criticizing this vid because she likes her mom’s food???
Enerok never criticized the video...I saw enough that interested me to give it a try. Just didn’t find her many comparisons to her moms version very respectful of the restaurant she’s reviewing.
She says "my mom would never perfectly boil a duck egg...no shade" meaning no shade to her mom. She's essentially saying this food reminds her of her mom's cooking but elevated to restaurant standards and there's no higher compliment than that.
It is nice to see you so happy.
My love egg!!! 😍😍
"Pro tip!"
-Doesn't scoop egg with the chip
pro tip mix the food on the plate!
Wow i wouldve never thought of that. Thanks!
The place is packed, and so sandos are PACKED with flavor, too!
I love how Christine is an expert in Japanese Cuisine and pronounces all her Japanese words wrong. C’mon
Lol
Oh and I thought I might be the only one that noticed.
Having never had either of these sandos, I do think the Japanese Milk Bread must make a big difference...yum! (This got me thinking about Anthony Bourdain and his LOVE of egg salad sandos.)
Best place I've seen u in yet, everything looked fantastic and ur commentary and knowledge is somcomprehensive, yet entertaining! Appreciate you my Lady, please keep em coming!!🤩🤗😍😜
I love the way the egg salad sandwich.
My mouth watered from beginning to end...can we PLEASE get a location in Atlanta!?!?
Its look so yummi 😋
These hipsters hosting are killing me man. Its just an egg salad sandwich. For the love of God
It looks good af
Man these meals tasty, especially 🇯🇵 style 🥚🥪🤤
Tamago sandwich 🤤🤤 This version of tamago sandwich is so fancyyyy.
But, personally...., convenience stores’ tamago sandwich is the best in Japan lol So tasty and inexpensive !
OK, so which is it for you Lawsons's 7-11 or FamilyMart?
Drool 🤤 omg yum!
My Canadian city needs this
Delicious
Liars, they visited la and was like let’s do the same but in nyc😂
I ate more egg salad sandos in Kobe City when I lived there for four years than the entire 25+ years of my life beforehand lol. Milk bread is just amazing and really makes the experience delicious. Even 7-11 egg sandos are better than anything you could get here in the states they’re that good. Porku katsu sandos are my favorite though especially after a long night out and it’s 4am and you’re delirious at an izikaya close to home lol. Good memories
4:17 kinda reminds me of the egg tempura bowl from food wars
Yummy😋😋
What’s up with the crust? Who’s eating those? They better have a container to save those for later.
Is there any seasoning at all?
what a talkative guy, dmitri...
Goooshhh!!!
Japan has some of the strictest quality standards for eggs in the world. Their eggs and the tasty richness of Kewpie mayo would make for an amazing sandwich.
Lucky guy.
It looks good, I like that it's small and simple with a small menu.
1:28 When you dont like the guy, but still have to manage the restaurant with him
Sriraman Balachander He’s probably also helping to raise her 2 out-of-wedlock children from a previous relationship, too - she’s just putting up w/ it until the previous guy comes out of prison...

I used to hate egg sandwiches
But seeing this made my mouth water. Yum I'm literally drooling 🤤
Welp, you're have disease
*it’s mutch mutch better in Japan* .
@@LKS._. Can agree, lived in Japan for 7 years and nothing beats a quick breakfast than an egg salad sandwich and Boss coffee
@@LKS._. oooh
Okay.
$10 for an egg sandwich that cost 6cents to make
Yes. Unless you're just sitting at home with all of the ingredients and nothing else to do. If you're walking around the city and you're super hungry then total deal.
You have to put in, employee wage, restaurant rent, utilities, restaurant insurance and the food cost. All of these things are not cheap, specially not in New York.
Reality, you don't know anything about food cost!!!! Where do you find eggs at 6 cent in the supermarket ( $0.6x12=$0.72 for eggs)??? Then there is the cost of bread, butter, etc and labor cost, lease, insurance, etc? You be in the red in the restaurant business!!!!!!
Your NOT in the restaurant business are you?? You have NO logic in your statement, 6 cents to make?? Do your research before posting. 6 cents maybe in 1960.......
NY is expensive. They have to pay rent, electricity, salary for workers and they also wanna live! It's not just the food you've to pay for
Food Insider can you do a video of eating at Famous Dave's Barbecue.
Right now, for me, everything in NY is mostly expensive :( (i mean in my country, $10 per day just for food is that i already feel rich).
This chick is my new spirit animal - ‘this bread is PLUSH, man’
Has Mike Chen ever visited this place? If not he needs to if the store is still in business
Plush sandos yall
Looks good but I rather get Wendy’s 4 for $4. Double stack cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, french fries and a drink, all for 4 bucks.
Konbi in LA makes those sandwiches but better!
kai hes Bon Appetit’s #1 Best New Restaurant in America!! 👍🏼👍🏼
Convience store food becomes restaurant items in america 😂
Why I'm watching even though I hate egg salad? Ugh 😯
MAN!!!!!
🤤🤤🤤🤤

This is gonna be good.
Nice
One of the many reasons why New York is 10000% better than LA. Nobody is phased by a camera crew filming. Down to earth. Great food.
Is NYC very crowded?
Manhattan, definitely, you get more breathing space elsewhere.
Oh please give me a freakn breal. Its egg sandwich!
They just got that 🥪 at 7-11
I wonder how much they sell these for?
Take the word sando(s) and burn it with the hottest fire possible :3
Well, the guy is well batting above his station with her.
I didn't know what you meant until I saw them
JAYSON why because he’s less attractive?Bro you don’t even know them like seriously why do people care so much about looks.Remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder and maybe he’s just a really nice guy.
Are you mad you loser?

I hate the new "comment section" placement.
Wtf UA-cam?
In our language(Filipino), sando means t-shirt. West too obsessed w/ these Japanese cuisine lately..
They can't come up with anything of their own.
I know right, I thought they were talking about a t-shirt before I read the title hahahhaha XD
🙄 Japan is underrated compare to many western countries.
Aint this the same egg sandwich place like the one in LA that sells their sandwiches for 15 dollars
hipsters will fall for anything. 15 buckeroonies for some eggs and white bread. smh
SANDWICH
I hope they're not tossing the cut crusts away... Surely a few sandwich worth could be turn into another cheap meal / free meal for someone.
Should have plated it nicely. 7/11 sando in Japan is way better.
The Earl of Sandwich is rolling over in his grave
TAMAGO sandwiches
Me : I want to go there!
Also me : *Does not live in NYC*
Also me : Yah I am too lazy, the plane tickets are too expensive too.
I have eaten it in Japan and it is sooooooo good!! First 7-11 food that i like! 😋
These things are literally a breeze to make.
Next time, make a video about your mom's "perfect cooking"
He has to scrub those fingerprint dirt and those nail dirt.
(Thumb up for content though)
Tot
It doesn't even look close to the real thing.
Mostly because eggs in Japan have orange yolk, whereas the yolks are yellow in America. Not really something that can easily be fixed
The dude look tired af. lol.
Where is your home girl ?
Wow!!
Damn
this looks legit nad so delicious broooo !!! Who else liked it

cutting a soft boiled egg with a knive.....what a waiste of yummy egg!!
I really hate when people can’t take a full bite of a sandwich so they take a little ass bite of the bread 😂
Lmao she could fit that katsu sando in one bite.... man they should find a new host, you know someone who’d actually eat.
74 becz pf low network 😛😛😛
Why cutting the crust off? What is wrong with the crust?
Joe
She talked more about the bread than the sandwich
permanently closed now :(
do u know why?
I’m not here for the food I’m here for Herrine 😍
NYC means New York city
