I was 14 years when I first heard this song. Was with my boyfriend chilling, who later became my husband, now after 30 years together, we are divorced. This song always brings me back to that time. Good memories 🥺💔
I met the love of my life Amy in July 2015 during a beach holiday, I was 14 and she was 12 (I had a very hard year as I was in love up to the month before with a girl who didn't match me and I was bullied at school and even though I didn't know it was all the fault of a fake and hypocritical person who I thought was one of my best friends.) Amy and I fell in love immediately when we met because we were soul mates and we shared the love for old music. We spent 2 unforgettable weeks more and more in love every minute, one night we secretly left our houses and went to the beach to spend the night together. Then when we went back to school in September (I was entering high school) one day she spoke about me to everyone in her class and she dedicated "Summer Nights" from Grease to me and I dedicated this to her. Today we are still happy together
If you live in Sydney Australia, you should know how REPETITIVE the radio stations are. Well thats how i stumbled across this song. Grew to LOVE it. now i get excited when it plays
One of my favorites that I almost forgot. Came on in the car and hubby had never heard it before. Such a beautiful and timeless piece of music and the saxophonist absolutely understood the assignment ❤
This song left me with memories of a beach and the hottest, coolest, funniest chick I'd ever met. She was Welsh and loved this song, we listened to it over and over. One of the best songs ever, and saddest.
@@coffeecrimegal5968 That was 20yrs ago, and I can still remember everything that went on that weekend! There's another song too, but I don't know who it was.
@@koori3085 It was 23 years ago for me! Summer of 98.. it was an affair that probably shouldn’t have happened but we really couldn’t help how we felt no matter how much we tried to fight it! He found out he was to be a father (with the other girl) so I figured they should try for their child sake. It hurt like hell to push him away but I knew it was the right thing to do! Sadly they didn’t last either and he died in 2004! Murdered by his stepdad! He and his mother:( We never got to speak again! Every time I hear this song I swear I can remember the way he smelled! And that soft spot on the lower part of his mouth, I can still remember how soft it was! Sometimes it doesn’t matter how much love you may feel.. Sometimes it’s just not meant to be!
@@coffeecrimegal5968 Wow, that's rough, we were just kids on vacation and thought each other were cute. 2 days later I took her to the airport and haven't seen her sense. We wrote a while, but back then it was honestly writing and mailing internationally ain't cheap! I remember she smelled like the beach and her body fit perfectly into my arms, like we were Ken and Barbi. We'll always have those memories! Edit: Sorry also btw, you did the right thing, but it has to hurt nonetheless.
I totally agree, music today is crap , and will continue to be crap forever! Thanks Richard for the music and the talent! This song brings a special meaning to my heart after this summer! ❤
So does our eldest son. He plays bass/acoustic guitar as well as piano, drums, etc. He was good enough after college for CNC machinery and math & music and how they corollate. He ended up with a diploma in both courses .
This song reminds of a girl I had a crush on at a daycare I went to back in 1992-93. Even though we were little kids, she was so wonderful and my everything.
What's the secret of 80's music why we never tired of listening of it?...unlike todays music you will listen several times after we don't want to hear it again...sorry hehehe
This song best narrates the economic opportunities all of us are hip hoping in endeavor to success. It has deeper literature in it over the sarcasm of love live, ooh, what a song!!!
this song brings back so many memories for me. I met the most beautiful girl named Shannon and we spent the entire summer together. I had to move away and I still am brokenhearted. We used to listen to this song.. sigh....
For me her name was Stefanie and we wore out the cassette. I’m now 50 married with 3 kids but when I hear this song it only takes a split second for me to remember her. We don’t live far, maybe an hour at most, and it’s been probably 30 years since we’ve seen each other. That summer was so intense I often wonder what would happen if we ran into each other. I can’t even remember what happened to us, one day we were inseparable the next it was over. I don’t remember any argument or fight, nothing.
The first time I heard this song I had a vision of how Richard Marx looked when I saw him for real he looked just like the vision. Dude simply has powerful stuff going on.
It was in 1988... I literally had an 3-month affair with a co-worker... we were in our mid-late 20"s and she was already engaged to another man, who was away overseas for a 3- month assignment. We had an agreement that her life plans would remain intact, and that this was to be only short term "adventure" for us both. For those 3 months, it was like living as though one of us cancer and would not be around for long... we lived each day fully and with passion. We were both working professionals - making good money, and we would surprise each other with surprise dates and outings... evening picnics on a mountain top... dinner and movie... dinner and play...walks on the beach at night when it was a full moon... It wasn't right, but was so intoxicating. On that warm day in late July, her fiancé returned as planned, and like a light switch, we stopped all our adventures and romantic communications. Fast forward about 20 years, (and to parallel Dan Folgerberg's Auld Lang Syne!) I ran in to her at a Costco (!)... we talked for about 20 minutes, and she is still married to the same man and they have two beautiful daughters and a nice life together. I did the same, and have two wonderful sons, and a great life myself... This song was blasting on the radio back in 1988 and described my life so accurately that I was sure Richard wrote this song about me!... Although I have no regrets, and would not change any of my choices, this song still tugs at my heart every time I hear it, and reminds me of that special magical time, and this cherished bitter-sweet chapter of my past, reminding me how rich this life is... Thank you Richard Marx!
My family used to visit my grandparents vacation home in Paris Landing, Tennessee at least once every summer. It wasn't fancy but it was so special. We would get up early in the morning and go out fishing on the lake before dawn. I remember sitting on the porch with grandma and just watching the cars pass and enjoy nature. I remember listening to this song on my Walkman late at night. Lost my mom four months ago. God I miss everything. Life is so cruel.

Summer came and left without a warning
All at once I looked and you were gone
And now you're looking back at me
Searching for a way that we can be like we were before
Now I'm back to what I knew before you
Somehow the city doesn't look the same
I'd give my life for one more night
Of having you here to hold me tight; oh, please
Take me there again
Oh, oh
And I remember how you loved me
Time was all we had until the day we said goodbye
I remember every moment of those endless summer nights
I still recall the walks along the beaches
And the way your hair would glisten in the sun
Rising in the afternoon
Making love to you under the moon, oh
Do you remember all the nights we spent in silence
Every single breath you took was mine
We can have it all again
Say that you'll be with me when the sun brings your heart to mine
Oh, oh
And I remember how you loved me
Time was all we had until the day we said goodbye
I remember every moment of those endless summer nights
There's only so much I can say
So please don't run away from what we have together
It's only you and me tonight
So let's stay lost in flight
Oh, won't you please surrender
And I remember how you loved me
Time was all we had until the day we said goodbye
I remember every moment of those endless summer nights (Oh I remember)
And I remember how you loved me
Time was all we had until the day we said goodbye
I remember every moment of those endless summer nights
