- Hall of Famer Gary Payton is the latest to weigh in on the MJ vs LeBron GOAT discussion. The 9-time All-NBA player said that he views LeBron James as all-around better player quote, 'by far.' The Glove said LeBron does a better job passing, dribbling and rebounding while MJ had the advantage shooting. Shannon Sharpe totally agrees 'as a complete player, Bron has no equal'.

They only had Centers that were super stars at his time. It seem to me today is the best of basketball. Picture if Mj played LeBron in Miami or the Lakers. All 7 games in the finals LeBron would probably shut him down with Strength on offense and defense. He'll also get tired of chasing LeBron up and down the court.
@@marvinangelo6635 You're saying you never seen MJ play without saying you never seen MJ playing
Shannon mike couldn’t assist the ball as much because of their system, he understood that it was more important to play his role than to have better stats
Exactly, Lebron plays in the Lebron system where he has the ball all the time and gets all the assists. MJ played in the triangle with ball movement and player movement, and even before that when he had the ball in his hands he was putting up great all around numbers
You can say the same for LeBron, the systems he played in had him focus more on facilitating than just scoring.
That’s all Lebron has over MJ. MJ for more scoring titles, more steals titles, more MVPs, more all defensive team selections, and a DPOY to go with it.
And LBJ plays in systems that focus on him as facilitator, which really nobody else has been able to do because they didn't have LeBron on their team. MJ was better at certain skills than Bron, but Bron has the bigger toolkit.
@@MeTakingAStand That doesn’t automatically make him the better player though there’s plenty of centers who could do more than Shaq but that doesn’t make them better centers.

Yes, but he also had a lot of weaknesses to. Thinking basketball breaks down his playmaking ability really well in his Greatest Peaks series MJ episode.
Honestly, I think even Kobe was a better distributer than MJ, when both were focused on distributing first. MJ probably was slightly better when they both were just looking to attack because Kobe really would get tunnel vision a lot, but when he made an effort to pass first he was better and more skilled at passing. Jordan was mostly a shooting guard. He also played small forward early in his career. When he was asked to run the point, he averaged a triple double. LeBron is 6'9 250. He better average more rebounds than Jordan. LeBron is a point guard. He better have more assists than him. This debate is ridiculous. Jordan was the better offensive AND defensive player, add all his accomplishments and his game that virtually has no weaknesses, and the argument is over
@Enrique Lugo You never seen MJ Play. Using your argument I guess Westbrook is the most complete player ever, he avg a triple double for multiple seasons STRAIGHT. Have a nice day 👍🏾
@Enrique Lugo Compare LeBron’s statistics to a Luka or Bird and you will see we have seen this before. LeBron may be the most athletically built but that only takes you so far. Skills play the bills and he have a losing finals record.
I mean of course he does 😂😂
@@MartinCampos0871 so predictable lol
Exactly I can’t recognize these guys they envy Michael just stolen a lot of their hearts
Skips whole demeanor is saying .. I just gotta argue I know I'm rambling not making sense but I cant admit it !!
MJ’s 3pt% was exactly the league avg at the time while Lebron’s is below the league avg. You have to compare by eras first, you can’t just take two dudes from different eras and put their numbers next to each other 🤦♂️
To be fair, this year is the best 3PT shooting year of all time. A year ago he would've been above league average.
So that just means they're better shooters in today's game. It's exactly a credit to LeBron. No matter how you slice it. LeBron is still a better 3pt shooter by the career. Ain't no by league average. The guys overall are better shooters then 25 years ago as a whole.
If you take LeBron what he is and give him 35 or 36% shooting from 3 for his career and place him 25 years ago he'll be one of the best three-point shooters in the league especially at his size he would be even better in that era because he can shoot the three you can't take that away from him just like you can't assume or give Jordan a better three-point percentage today's game you have to take him for what he was in his don't translate over too well shooting that that's like Russ average in 3pt shooting today. We not just going to assume MJ would be shooting league average today. No you have to take that player for what they are and was.
"Isiah got old!" Isiah Thomas's age at start of 1991 Playoffs: 29 years, 361 days.
Basically 30 but in those times it was different that was pretty old back then also isiah was injured not the same
lolol, you're reaching hard.
@@EGarrett01 I am not just stating facts do research mate
Not in age, but in body. He was dealing with constant injuries that held him back. Same with some of the other pistons.
@@leultrainstinct406 If the guy had said that he would have at least had an argument, Isiah did have down numbers that year, but he said age, which is BS.

Jordan's best all around year had 32.5 pts, 8 reb, 8 ast, almost 3 steals and almost 1 block per game. Lebron hasn't done that.
Jordan could have done what Lebron does. He knew he could do more though.
Jordan is the GOAT but they don’t have to say it every day. Anyone who knows basketball knows he’s the GOAT. Unless your some little kid.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I swear, all these 12 year olds just look at box scores, and compare their teams and just make their own narratives 😐

Fun fact LeBron is the goat 🐐
Jordan brings in viewers sadly

The Glove got discarded by MJ and hasn't been so salty as now... lmao
MJ beat Magic, MJ beat O'Neil, MJ beat Isaiah, MJ beat Olajuwon, MJ beat Malone & Stockton
Wonder how MJ's teammates and coach feels
@Albert Mike never beat Olajuwon. But I see where you going with this goood point but had he play my Rocket teams especially that 93-94 team it would've been lights out! Don't forget that was MVP Dream, too!
Um he play a magic with aides on his way out of the NBA took Isaiah best defender 😂😂😂

@@solidgecko magic was not in his prime. Jordan help recruit Dennis Rodman piston best defender you slow or something 😂
@@lilmike1237 I see, don't think you got my point
All around means both sides of the court offense are and defensive , and there’s no way anyone with a brain can say that lebron is better all around
Both are great. The perfect way to separate the two is to compare flaws. Go for it!
im not gonna lie Skip bodied Shannon @ 5:54
What separates MJ from the rest is that he has the "Win at all cost" mentality. He is the Ultimate and Fiercest Competitor basketball fans have ever seen. MJ will do anything to win. A leader who would take you to where he will be while others would just trade you if he doesn't like you. On the other hand, Kobe was the MJ 2.0 in some aspects but not really exactly on MJ's level. The will to win unparallel without sacrificing the team chemistry is what makes MJ separates from Kobe and one more thing, MJ was never known as a Flopper, so there! everything I stated is just FACTS.
It's crazy how whenever a player from Jordan's era says LeBron is better than MJ, everyone calls them a hater.
I call them stupid
@YouWouldn'tGetIt jordan fans think that If u say someone’s better than mj ur a hater
MJ = better offence , better defence, wins more. This argument is dumb af.
Gary Payton is a notorious Jordan hater
He said he thinks Stockton is tougher to guard
And in that same interview he doesn’t have Mike or LeBron in his top 3
maybe, but MJ IS “ by far “ the greatest player of all time🐐
Lebron>>>mj
One thing that Lebron does better than MJ is the assist department. Rebounds? He is 6' 9, he is supposed to rebound more. But other than those two, MJ beats lebron. Offense? Defense? No contest.
lebron will never be consider better than jordan as he was 6-0 in the finals.
always run to the comments when they say sum funny😭😭
The debate ended last year with MJ winning. He's going to win again and again and again 💯‼️
You can even see Skip realize it himself when he countered Shannon with the 6 ring statement...
How many times they going to have this conversation
Skip: MJ grew up and hit the weight room and that was the end of isiah
Shannon - Isiah finally got old
Me: Bruh we all do realize Isiah was 29 years old when MJ beat him right 😭
@2 way superstar and he was shot. Bad knees and an injured wrist. Just fax. Kinda like the brow is now at 27.
Omari Mamboleo then everyone should just say that he was injury prone instead of saying he was old
Jordan was older waxing GP in 96 finals than Isaiah was when "he got old on MJ", Shay just stop with that excuse.
Prime MJ before baseball used to abuse GP
Zeke retired in 92 his body was breaking down bro. You watched basketball then???
@@eddiewilks4874 yea I was watching and well aware back then too, and what I said is still true Jordan's first run with the bulls was about as long as Isaiah's entire career, and so with your logic Jordan is an old man too and he came back to do what Isaiah wish he could for a second time.
Byfar better? 2.1 more assists and 1.2 more rebounds per game? 6 Finals losses?
Is LeBron a better offensive player? Nope.
Is LeBron a better defender? Nope.
Is LeBron a better winner? Nope.
LeBron doesn't even win anything without 2 PRIME ALL-STARS or the BEST BIG MAN IN THE GAME.
LeBron can "carry" a team to the Finals via the weak East but HAS TO BE CARRIED TO WIN ANYTHING.
7:35 skip tries not to laugh 😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"Heroes will be remembered but legends never die." Cute saying from The Sandlot but it's just romanticism. Heroes and legends do get forgotten. A new generation won't know them. We all perish. It's never really forever and ever.
Ali boxed years ago and he passed but people still remember him as the goat boxer. Ali will always be remembered even in the next generation, so this statement isn’t accurate.
@@ThisGuyWithTheShirt Just flat out wrong, a lot of people truly believe Mayweather is the goat that are younger, and there is a entire generation that thinks Mike Tyson is the goat. In the same time period people thought and think today Foreman was better.
Mf ain't saying they will be forgotten, but every generation will have a goat they think is truly the goat.
You’re wrong
"6 rings in 6 tries." What? I didn't realize MJ only played 6 seasons lol
Exactly. I try to tell ppl all the time if u don’t get to the finals u lose the finals too
6 tries to the finals my guy, use your brain. I know that statement isn’t fair to lebron cause of the matchups he’s had but still, use your brain
@@donaldrailedurmom6264 He only tried to get to the finals 6 times? Am I reading this right?
@@OneManGSG No idiot . The point is when he was expected to win he won unlike somebody else I could mention
@@christiansoldier77 idiot? No reason to disrespect you so I’ll just say this. Jordan played 15 years, he won the finals 6 times. Ppl also gloss over the fact he lost in the 1st round 3 times & 2 of those were sweeps. I’m a Jordan fan, just speaking facts without name calling.
Shannon fails so hard at this argument. LeBron can't play off the ball like Jordan could. LeBron can only play in his own system.
Comparing stats is useless because today's NBA is not the same NBA that it was in the 90s. Teams didn't score 100-120 points a game back then.
So if you have more possessions per game, obviously you're going to have higher rebound and assist numbers, because there are 10-20 more opportunities per game to get them.
Ok so in short
Skip thinks *Jordan* is better....
and
Shannon thinks *LeBron* is better....
I honestly wonder. How many LBJ v MJ debates have they done on this show. Literally how many hours have they given this topic...
And we’re not even close to done.
