- Temperatures have crossed 50C (120F) in parts of northern and central India as the country grapples with extreme heatwave conditions.
Indian summers, which extend from March to September, are usually hot and humid.
But the weather department in India has said the country is likely to experience longer and more intense heatwaves this year.
BBC weather presenter Ben Rich has explained what is causing the intense heat in India.

A few days i tried to fry egg after heating the stainless steel frying pan for 1 hour right under the sun thinking 35°C is very hot. It didnt work, not even half cooked. I think 52.5°C should cook it well.

Once you see 45 deg afternoons for about a week in a row, 38 deg feels cool after that due to acclimatization unless it's humid then it would feel even worse

You should not even turn on the AC at 46 C if your outdoor unit is kept in the sun, there are regular blasting of AC in Delhi almost everyday, due to overheating of the condenser.

In Delhi with humidity below 20-25%, I am able to manage this heatwave using just an air cooler but my family members living in Bihar where temperature is reading 37-38°C but humidity touching 75%, it is them who are suffering more.

How can you survive that? How does it feel? Here in my city called Saltillo located in the state of coahuila north of mexico we are at 34 to 37 but there is no humidity so the heat feels like being in front of a stove

guys you haven't considered the massive air pollution in Delhi, the greenhouse effect.
Air pollution actually helps shield the surface from direct sunlight. Part of the increase in ocean temperatures may be due to shipping using lower sulphur fuel.

Last month all south and southeast Asia were in heat wave. But now the temperature in southeast is calmer now, normal 30c max, in India the heatwave is still going on.

Don't generalise. Mention your city name. Kerala is baking. Chennai has touched 43 degrees but some rains helped. South india is in heat owen but the north has touched thr worse.

26 C here in North East Indian state of Mizoram. I once experienced a 35C in Kolkatta which was unbearable, 52C is beyond my comprehension.
We have very high humidity so even though actual temperature is low the feel like temperatures is really high. I am in Assam where it was 38°c peak two days back with feel like temp of 45°. Now the rain saved our asses from tanning

Humidity is very high in Eastern and Southern parts of India, hence 35°C feels like hell over there, but North is comparatively less humid, hence 35°C feels kinda normal.

It is feels like temperature (with humidity). Tropical countries don't have these high temperatures. These high temperatures are only common in deserts where the humidity is very low. Sometimes only 3 to 8%.
i was not in delhi since few weeks weather was fine till then but when i arrive last to last week i immedietly realised how bad the heat was and it is just increasing day by day Air conditioner are uneffective just a little saviour to coup off untill it rain and temprature settle down a bit.

And many places here don’t even have fans or AC and I imagine it’s the same there in some parts. A lot of people are passing out and getting sick. And some have even died

Most of the houses in delhi has air conditioners runnin 24x7 hours, even 4 in 1 house and millions of cars, busses, metro, big factories and what not, delhi is a huge city and the capital of india, but touching 52° is soo deadly and no one had ever expected that.
we hit 53 to 54'c in the philippines but good thing it's rainy season now. india should be ready it's not fun at all we can't sleep at night because even at night it's still hot.

Seems like India is suffering from heat because the Himalayan mountains are blocking warm air from moving further north of India. Creating an atmospheric heatdome that gets worse by the week.
I think countries in that region working together to excavate a "man-made" valley would allow heat + flood relief.
