I'm a straight girl and ship supercorp. Their relationship is the most natural and beautiful on the show. Kara/lena complement each other perfectly and katie/melissa have so much insane chemistry it would be a pure waste to not develop it further. The potential of a romance between a luthor and a super could be magical, just a shame the writers just constantly use the 2 of them as queerbait.

As someone who doesn't just watch the show for the ships, I'm even starting to see this point of view. It's wrong for the producers/writers to play games with the fans and not acknowledge what they're doing.
That's the point. I would be ok with them being only friends. But stop teasing, just go on with your plot, don't come and say "this season is going to be a fight for Lena's soul" and then get Kara flying around the world for getting Lena's favorites foods around the globe. Like, just drop it. Take out the romantic undertones, get rid of the parallel scenes with the romantic couples, etc.

@marcus grey I understand your point, worst of all, I really don't know if the writers are going to do it or not (because I think they really have the Supercorp as a last resort because their series is falling apart)
They lost like 400k of audience, the score of the chapters dedicated to men (Winn-Willian-Lex) had low score, one of them reached 5.4 (too low)
Not to mention that "hey Kara x William" But the whole series indicates otherwise
I want to talk a little about the chapter that Melissa directed (where it was where she gave the Slow Burn statement and "possibilities" without naming Willy) ... look at 5x17 she had the opportunity to give Willy x Kara, but did she? Nope
The scene where Kara is affected, the only one who notices her sadness is Lena and pursues her as a schoolgirl in love ... Lex notices it. But how will William ignore it if it is the "Slow Burn"?
Now by definition Slow Burn has to have a continuity and antiquity (William and Kara don't have it) ... but what we saw here is that what continues is still Lena and Kara.
In that same episode, Lex, angry at the link between Lena and Kara ... makes them fight again (drama and everything, like the Slow Burn)
We see the 5x18 Kara has the opportunity to tell him something nice about William What does he say? "He is the tall guy with an accent" he literally described it with a Poker face (that's not romance, not even in 100 years)
Instead in that same chapter Kara is angry and frustrated she even says "Now I understand how to want to escape to a virtual reality where not everything is complicated" imagine how Kara wants Lena to understand this.
Just because of Lena, Kara misses her and wants to have her ... but she gets mad because Lena is not by her side. What about WIlliam? Kara neither talks about her date nor anything, nor does she remember it ... we continue with more drama by Lena and Kara
We arrived at 5x19 which was the quintessential Supercorp episode, there was drama, emotions from both women.
After they save William where Kara makes an "Ok" face with William, she ignores him later but the narrative uses that to further develop that Lena will always protect Kara's secret.
Then everything turned around both, they had strange looks with romantic music in the background in the laboratory ... now the irony.
The Supercorp stood out in everything, William's did not stand out in anything ... the narrative left him forgotten in every way.
HOW THE FUCK IS WILLIAM X KARA SLOW BURN ... IF LITERALLY ALL OF KARA'S EMOTIONAL NARRATIVE WAS WITH LENA?
Literally and to top it all Kara and Lena will start a new dynamic that will be like that of 5X13 where Lena was their "Partnert"
Also again it takes 1 year for the series to come out and the numbers and interest of the people are in the Supercorp ... every day I see more hatred towards William, something I learned from this fandom is that those love interests disappear if they are not wanted in the long run.

There is so many parallels between Supercorp and WestAllen, at this point is not even funny anymore. Like the episode where Barry refuses to fight the other Iris, just like Kara refused to fight villain Lena. I mean, come on. How can they keep doing this to us?

I feel like the writers are like: "well Alex is a lesbian (although we'll never really show her relationship with Kelly) so let's not put Kara in a lesbian relationship." Which is BULLSHIT. And now they just use Supercorp for queerbaiting purposes with no intention of a payoff. It's maddening that they use Kara and Lena that way, and it's insulting to fans.
Then they turn around after spending all this time queerbating with Supercorp, and neglect the lesbian relationship that's actually happening!! Urgh.

I honestly wouldn’t mind Kara being in a relationship, but the actors need to have good chemistry and the writers gotta put in a little more effort than what they did with William. They would also have to stop queerbaiting in every other scene. You can’t make lenaXkara scenes more romantic, then expect us to ship her with William just because he’s a man. This is why we’ll keep shipping supercorp, because the writers aren’t giving us any better options! for cryin out loud man 😭

For me the definition of slow burn is when two characters are introduced to one another and they have a LOT of screen time (or lot of pages in a novel) together. It's when you see there's something between the characters from the very beginning, small things like the way they look at each other, the way we see them as viewers/readers how close they grow. It can sometimes start with disliking one another when they meet or immediately getting on (like SuperCorp) and we see them getting closer throughout time. Kara met Lena in season 2 and ever since then Lena has clearly been part of of Kara's life. What another thing slowbirn does is angst and we got that in spades with SuperCorp. The way their story has been written, acted, all the parallels with Clois too (there are a lot!! Someone made a video).
Both have great chemistry with each other and allowing them to be together after everything they've been through, seriously it would be so good!
And it would pay off for everything they've shown between the two!!!
Having Kara with William would make no sense.
We clearly were shown how both Kara and Lena care for one another, when they were at odds, they were always thinking of the other (be it in a positive or negative way).
I so feel your frustration. I've been through it with another ship that had so much potential if it had been made canon, and it was so frustrating and painful to watch at times. And even though in the very end one of the creator of that show said that it had been a love story, it still was not enough...
At least we always have the very talented people in the Fandom with fics, fanarts and fanvideos.

I don't know if you have ever seen Agents of Shield, but there was an agent and a woman named May. Now they were shipped since Season 1. Had so many scenes together, and finally (spoiler) in S5 they made them cannon. THAT is a slowburn. Just like Kara and Lena. Like you stated, slowburn takes periods of time! And your exactly right.

If she truly loved and trusted her she wouldnt have freaked out when she found out lena had kryptonite (sure It could be used to kill her ) but like I said if she trusted her she would have known she would never use the stuff to harm her

You would have to be blind to not recognise the chemistry between Kara and Lena. In So. Many. Scenes. There’s this underlying sexual tension (in my opinion) between them. I totally get if a show doesn’t want to go down a certain way with a relationship but they are definitely queerbating supercorp which is really sad and unfair for people in the LGBTQ+ community because representation is so frickin important. If they don’t want supercorp to happen then fair enough they can do want they want with their show buttttttt they NEED to stop teasing a relationship that will “never” happen.
@King Redblade no but the thing is they are, you can even look at certain parallels in scenes with Lena and Kara which are almost exactly the same as other couple scenes in the arrowverse and in supergirl. For example in the flash iris says to Barry “the flash may be central city’s hero but you Barry Allen are mine” and in supergirl Lena says to Kara, after filling her office with flowers I might add, “ supergirl may be the hero of national city but Kara Danvers you are my hero”. This is just one example of the many times there has been something that is more than platonic shown between Lena and Kara, it just seems a bit unfair because as a member of the LGBTQ+ community I know what it means to have queer representation in shows and when queerbating happens in a show it can sometimes feel like they don’t fully understand that they toying with people a bit.

The relationship between Alex and Kelly is a proper way to do a LGBTQ relationship because it involved two characters who have been defined as either bisexual or lesbian from a very early stage and Kelly was a completely new character introduced. So why would you want to force to straight women into a bisexual relationship simply to satisfy your needs?

I have absolutely no problem with Lena and Kara as friends, I think they could have a great friendship, I just don’t like the queerbaiting around supercorp, that’s my only issue. And as for your other point about the “proper” way to do an LGBTQ+ relationship, I do disagree, because there’s no set in stone way in how any relationship should be, whether it’s heterosexual or homosexual, I don’t think I’m “forcing” any sexuality on any characters at all, and not everyone knows exactly what their sexuality is straight away, it can take different amounts of time for different people to understand their own sexuality so it’s not a case of knowing you’re bisexual or lesbian from the start. I’m not sure that you’re fully understanding my original comment, I don’t like the fact that they are queerbaiting that is all, like I said before it’s their show so if they want to have Kara and Lena as just friends, then that’s totally okay and I’m on board with that, but if that’s the case then they need to stop queerbaiting the supercorp relationship, you even said yourself that it’s “bait”. That’s my only problem, again (I’m repeating myself a bit here but it’s important) representation is so important especially in the LGBTQ+ community so when they “bait” a queer couple it feels as though they don’t understand how important it really is.
@Carlos Huiskens I can see where you are coming from with the whole they can’t give if you stop taking idea. But there is undeniable chemistry between them so it’s not a stretch at all to “ship” them together. And people can ship who they want together regardless of what’s canon and what’s not. However as for your other point about it being “strange” to discover your sexual identity at 30 or at any age, I strongly disagree, sexuality is fluid and can change for some people, for others it may not but people can discover and understand their own sexuality at any age, if someone who has been identifying as straight their whole life realised at 70 that they were gay that’s totally fine and it doesn’t matter what age people discover their sexual identity, we as humans are constantly growing and learning, so it’s not really strange to also learn new things about yourself through the new experiences. And a character’s sexuality doesn’t define them whether or not Kara is straight or gay or bi or pans or anything she may want to identify as, it’s not problematic because it ultimately does not change who she is as a person.
@@avalogan5247 Just because there is chemistry doesn't mean this chemistry is romantic. Can't two women have great chemistry while being friends? This is again a situation if people seeing what want to see. Instead of seeing the situation for exact what it is.
Also the reason why i say its problematic of both Kara and Lena to figure out their orientation so late is because Supergirl's story isn't endless. This show will eventually come to an end. So its better to define a character orientation early ( as the did with Alex ) compared to later in the show. This allows the showrunners to properly create a roadmap for the character and where they want to take this character when it comes down to romance. Sure it doesn't always reflect real life but this isn't real life.
So at the end of the day it all comes down to taking the bait or not taking the bait. Both Kara and Lena will stay friends but both actresses will continue to have chemistry with each other. That is not something that's going away. The only thing that can change is how YOU and the rest of the Supercorp fans view this chemistry.
The writers are spitting in our faces and don't even have the decency to call it rain.
I came back to watch Supergirl just for LENA/KATIE and I stayed for SUPERCORP! Like the relationship between the two is undeniable and it would benefit everyone if they made them cannon, they're just scared to give us what most of the fandom is waiting for since like 2017.
The way kara and lena are interacting with each other no one can tell me this is platonic.

3. How can they (the writers/producers) not know what they are doing?
•They know-as pointed out by a former Xena writer-the writers know-it might be accidental at first-but thereafter-they know.
•From 201 to 519 there have been hundreds of acting choices made by both actresses to play the underlying romantic attraction/potential. Assuming a certain lag time between episodes filming and airing with audience reaction and the beginning of SC shipping, there has been plenty of time for producers to call both of them and say “stop doing that” or for directors to watch the scene & call cut or ask for another take to be played without the undercurrents. That has never happened. If we give Katie a pass because Lena has never outright declared anything about limits on who she is attracted to and many say that every character Katie plays has undertones (I am still working my way thru her filmography) then there’s still Melissa. If she were as anti-SC as some suggest, she would not play those layers-but she does. Both actresses have left the door open for the writers to go there and the higher ups have let them.
4. For those that point to Kara’s statement to Winn is ep 101 as why SC cannot happen: If I had a dollar for every gay or lesbian person on this planet who either denied their orientation the first time someone questioned it or did so because they were not yet aware of it themselves I would be very well off-like retire early well off. Besides, that rooftop convo goes-Winn: “Oh my God, you’re a lesbian! That’s why you’re not into me!” Kara: “I’m not gay.” She doesn’t say: I’m straight. ‘Not gay’ does not exclude her being bisexual or pansexual. A viewer need only watch Alex’s coming out story to see how difficult it can be to come to terms with living authentically.
5. I’m still gonna need someone inside to write a tell-all book someday giving the scoop on who was the hold out on SC being made canon.

I absoltely agree with everything that you said, I am not really much of a shipper, but I especially agree about the queerbaiting. I am so sorry on how the poor queers have to suffer from this over and over with different shows.

They don’t care about the quality of anything on that show. They just throw in what they think is drama without any long game or aim of character development. Also, they don’t care about the fans cause they know they’ll get some views and that’s all they need.

After Crisis, William's character was just redundant. No disrespect to Staz cause he's an awesome guy, but seriously, they just changed who he was investigating from Andrea to Lex and it was pointless. The stuff with Russell was pretty much resolved even though it didn't end well for his and Andrea's relationship, but still, after that, William's plot was pretty much wrapped. Post-Crisis, he could have been completely absent and it wouldn't really have changed the story one iota. ANY of his scenes (besides the Superforced nonsense) could have been taken by Nia or Kelly. The partnership with Kelly and William could have been Nia and Kelly or even just Kelly on her own. Neither would have needed him to prop their characters.
And get Lena some fucking therapy! Holy shit! Just the fact that she believes "tiny boxes" are a good idea to deal with her feelings is a huge red flag for her on top of all that verbal and emotional abuse! Repressing feelings and never acknowledging them is a HORRIBLE idea.

I find it disappointing how the writers are making us fans feel like Supercorp is in our heads with how they have responded so far, maybe a little immature on their part? I thought tv shows were like art and fans were free to connect to it however they wanted to. If that means shipping two characters, shouldn't that be a good thing considering how invested their fans are? Katie and Mel as actors have romantic chemistry, that's how they come across no matter how platonic the writing is and a majority of fans see that. I also agree that there might be some homophobe or Supercorp phobe higher up who doesn't want them to be together. It also comes down to having two main lesbian couples on a show. It must be taboo on TV or some shit. Though I don't think the writers can avoid the fans for too much longer, it just makes them look even worse with each new season.

The situation going on with Supergirl/supercorp is eerily similar to OUAT/SwanQueen. They were romantically coded in the show(the music,the looks, everything revolved around them,they even co-parented a freaking child!!)paralleled with all the "true love" couples,had dramatic ass hope speeches to each other, the showrunners threw the first available men at them, except one of the writers had the balls to say SQ would never happen,but she was fired right after. Even after that the fans had hope,because of the showrunners baiting. The thing is,they said all the time that SQ was best friends,but they hugged maybe 2 times in show😩 and that's the thing I feel like sq and sc has in common, the show says they are best friends,but you never see it no? Instead it's this tension and hesitation and care and understanding that you never see them show other characters🤷♀️

This reminds me of the scene when Nia tells Brainy that he can't be on both sides. The writers give us SupperCorp scenes, but then they have Kara go on a date with William. They don't wanna lose but they have to make a decision by season 6 cuz I can't go on and watch another "Is Lena a bad guy? " Episode or another angst scene between them.
I can't imagine a character so bland being the partner of Supergirl. And I'm not talking about strength but "weight" on the show. No matter what, now there's no time to put another character that could build such a relationship with Kara as Lena already did. They're both EQUAL in terms of characterization, they've been written as soulmates, they have a long story together all over these seasons and from the past because of their families. I mean, the story is being written by itself. They have all the things they need, all the ingredients to make an epic story. And as Clois in Smallville, they've been friends before, they know each other really well, the chemistry is off the chart and that is a real slow burn relationship.
I feel like you Adam, really frustrated because I don't get why they're not canon. And I'm tired of the "there's already a gay couple on the show" and "they're straight". B*tch I was straight until I met a girl, first we were friends and later we fell in love. Others still only watch it so they know whats going on for arrowverse crossovers, and other like me are watching it because its arrowverse/DC comics and they are comic/DC fans that just enjoy superhero/comic book stuff regardless of how "good" it is (I myself have every season of every arrowverse show so far on dvd XD) and want to watch every episode of every show in it

I understand that you want to look at the incarnation of heroes on the screens. The only question is quality. Sometimes it would be better if some of the adaptations did not exist at all. Because it's just a nightmare. But I must say, they sometimes try to do well (if they even tried to do something before that, lol). Say Freedom Agent, in the beginning he had good motivation, good beliefs, and an interesting story. Lex is just mean, but interesting to watch. And so with many villains (sometimes heroes (They are just empty, especially secondary. And they change them every season)). But after the first steps, everything again slides into the trash. you get tired point your finger at everything. I personally watch this series to see how NOT to do it.

The soul of season 4 and season 5 is freaking Supercorp. They helped each other in season 4 and their angst is the main feature in season 5. Supercorp is definitely the soul of Supergirl since season 3.♥️

ugh okay I need to voice my opinion too .. I don’t watch supergirl anymore and I tell you why: the writers don’t write for their characters. They constantly put plot over character development. While Oliver and Barry (the leading characters on Arrow and The Flash) had one very steady love interest over most of the series, Kara gets 4 “romantic” scenes with a man every year (exclusing Mon-El from that but that was a whole other mess of writing) instead of giving her a solid love interest even though they’d have one (I mean Lena is literally RIGHT THERE). You know what that makes Supergirl look like? As if a woman can’t have it all. As if Kara wasn’t allowed to be in a steady relationship bc she’s supergirl. But male superheroes can? I mean Superman is with Lois, but Kara has to be single forever? And then you give her 4 scenes with some nee guy and it’s called romance?! Why can’t you just give her a real love story AND let her kick some superhero butt? That doesn’t mean it should revolve around her love life (season 2 I’m looking at you), but it should get a place in her life. And I don’t mean one stupid date, I mean a REAL EMOTIONAL CONNECTION! You don’t even have to cast someone new for that, Lena is RIGHT HERE. okay, rant over.

Ok so I'm 9 minutes in and I just have to be honest here..... I haven't been watching Supergirl for a while now, just everyone's reactions. So of course I can't say with full confidence wtf I feel is happening. BUT. I must say..... hearing you say how Supergirl as a show gave so much room to Lex, so much so that it was really detrimental to other characters like Kelly and Alex...I'm sorry, am I just listening to a repeat of Mon-El?? I mean the first time I got pretty annoyed with this show was when they did exactly that, when they'd put SO much focus on Mon-El that each and every other story line or character suffered (including Supergirl herself) as a result. It really seems like they haven't learned their lesson if this was allowed to happen again. Please tell me I'm wrong and that this is something different. I'm not even going to go into Supercorp 'cause I want to live another day without getting a heart attack from my queerbaiting feels, thank you very much, and also I want to listen to the rest of Adam's rant (I'm sure he will put into words the frustration I'm feeling with how they treat them, but in actual English, not my poor attempt at it). Season two revolved around Kara and Mon-El as he was her love interest. Season five revolved around Kara and Lena, but not around Kara and William at all. If they wanted people to ship William and Kara as much as people shipped Kara and Mon-El, then they should have made season five revolve around Kara and William. But no, this ENTIRE season was dedicated to Lena and Kara's relationship. I'm trying to find the logic in this, but to be honest I really can't find any.

They lost like 400k of audience, the score of the chapters dedicated to men (Winn-Willian-Lex) had low score, one of them reached 5.4 (too low)
Not to mention that "hey Kara x William" But the whole series indicates otherwise
I want to talk a little about the chapter that Melissa directed (where it was where she gave the Slow Burn statement and "possibilities" without naming Willy) ... look at 5x17 she had the opportunity to give Willy x Kara, but did she? Nope
The scene where Kara is affected, the only one who notices her sadness is Lena and pursues her as a schoolgirl in love ... Lex notices it. But how will William ignore it if it is the "Slow Burn"?
Now by definition Slow Burn has to have a continuity and antiquity (William and Kara don't have it) ... but what we saw here is that what continues is still Lena and Kara.
In that same episode, Lex, angry at the link between Lena and Kara ... makes them fight again (drama and everything, like the Slow Burn)
We see the 5x18 Kara has the opportunity to tell him something nice about William What does he say? "He is the tall guy with an accent" he literally described it with a Poker face (that's not romance, not even in 100 years)
Instead in that same chapter Kara is angry and frustrated she even says "Now I understand how to want to escape to a virtual reality where not everything is complicated" imagine how Kara wants Lena to understand this.
Just because of Lena, Kara misses her and wants to have her ... but she gets mad because Lena is not by her side. What about WIlliam? Kara neither talks about her date nor anything, nor does she remember it ... we continue with more drama by Lena and Kara
We arrived at 5x19 which was the quintessential Supercorp episode, there was drama, emotions from both women.
After they save William where Kara makes an "Ok" face with William, she ignores him later but the narrative uses that to further develop that Lena will always protect Kara's secret.
Then everything turned around both, they had strange looks with romantic music in the background in the laboratory ... now the irony.
The Supercorp stood out in everything, William's did not stand out in anything ... the narrative left him forgotten in every way.
HOW THE FUCK IS WILLIAM X KARA SLOW BURN ... IF LITERALLY ALL OF KARA'S EMOTIONAL NARRATIVE WAS WITH LENA?
Literally and to top it all Kara and Lena will start a new dynamic that will be like that of 5X13 where Lena was their "Partnert"
Also again it takes 1 year for the series to come out and the numbers and interest of the people are in the Supercorp ... every day I see more hatred towards William, something I learned from this fandom is that those love interests disappear if they are not wanted in the long run.
