Judging by the dream scene when Josh Brolin was pushed into the void, it is my guess that there will need to be at least 6 more seasons to get us to what is currently the end game. Apparently the show is not lacking for viewers.....ridiculously short interview I suppose to fit into the attention deficit of a typical "TV Insider' viewer.

I love Imogen Poots as well as Josh Brolin but this show was a big disappointment like so many shows in the last years. And the problem is always the same, showrunners have a good budget, enough creative freedom and good actors wich are famous enough to pull an audience for the show. But instead of telling a great story their only focus is to keep viewers as long as possible. So they start always with one or two good episodes to get the audience hooked. But then, instead of focusing on the main plot and the initial mystery the showrunners slow down the tempo and establish at least ten new subplots wich are very loosely connected to the main plot if they are connected at all. After a pretty boring season they finish off with one good episode and a big cliffhanger. Every. Single. Time.
Outer Range was supposed to be a mixture between neo-western and mystery focusing on the Abbot family and their struggles and the mysterious hole on their land.
Instead it became a show about the Abbots and the hole but also about
a disfunctional rich family,
a dispute between neighbours,
a murder plot,
racism against natives,
the acceptance of same sex relationships in the countryside,
rodeo championships,
religion,
the disappearance of "Rebecca" one of the characters wives,
two different love stories and
a girl with mental illness.
I am all for trying new genre combinations and new ways in storytelling generally but this is just a total overloaded mess.
There are now two ways this show can go.
A) The show will be a success - this means we will see at least two or three more seasons before they will even start to explain what is going on. They will speculate on the effect that viewers spent already too much time to stop watching at this point and will add even more subplots to stretch it to the max. And no matter which explanation they will give after five to seven seasons - at the end it will leave us unsatisfied because the expactations they built were just too high.
B) The show will flop. In that case we will never get an explanation for all these subplots and what they mean and the main plot will end hurried and flimsy written. In this case the show will leave us also unsatisfied.
So with all respect i have to contradict the good reviews. This show is as pointless as it gets. I rate this a 2/10.

@@hanshandkante5055 I watched the series and it was pretty good. I read your essay on what you didn’t like about it, and it just seemed you were really digging to find stuff that annoyed you. I can see how you an others found weaknesses in the plot, but that show is sure is hell better than a 2 out of 10. SMH

Why dont they just hire an American actress for an American lead? God knows their are enough actresses that need jobs and wouldn't have to spend time faking an American accent. It's not like Imogen is so good, no American actress can touch her.
