Hmm I think that Pompeii sounds better in the original than in his cover... But then again Bastille did a really good job (my opinion is that Bastille does it better than sam, Peter hollens, and just about any cover artist) ignoring that one counterexample, I agree with you

I love the fact that, not only is Sam an amazing singer, but he puts so much personality into his performances. The faces he makes throughout the song make you feel like he really feels it, really understands what he's singing about. My imaginary gentleman hat goes off to you, my good sir.

I heard this cover on a video which didn't specify who it was by. So after many trials and errors, trawling through countless covers (i swear everyone and their cat had coveted this song) I finally found it. So worth it.
This is one of those moments where I dislike the original song, but love all the covers of it. It's weird.

That's one of the main reasons why it's difficult to pull off; anyone can sing a simple song, but to make it their own, better, or otherwise sound really good, the singer has to have a great voice.

He actually chose not to go for a record deal because he wants artistic controle about his songs, which he should because the music he makes is awesome! This way he'll get there too but on his own terms.
