Yes China has many brands which are sold in India around the world and even the US and that's a benchmark for India which has designers who can design chips but they don't like manufacturing where scalability is very important The problem is not about Indian engineers or American brands The problem is about Indian states where the rules vary from one part of India to another. Whatever reason there is this diversity of regulations in India one must also look at it from the perspective of foreign direct investment where they don't want to make this huge complicated decisions all the time It's a waste of time, energy and attention. So we need to deal with the Indian problems by the Indian governments and state governments working together It's not that China is communist China is also coherent, countries in Southeast Asia are also doing very well and they're not communist countries like Malaysia and Thailand especially Malaysia. Don't look at Singapore. Singapore is an artificial city state It is proudly Chinese and they're just very patronizing to the Indians. So Indians have to take a hard look at themselves and realize seeking validation and respect from the West is what's holding up India. The Chinese are proud of the culture they do things which are wrong for sure they can be arrogant for sure but they are proud of themselves and they deliver. Indians need to be coherent by that we don't mean uniformity but unity in diversity which must be lived. But laws must be streamlined so that states can actually work together and the supply chain can be shared across India a lot of people want India to succeed around the world and you know Indians can be their own worst enemy.

Of course these prices are also because the duties that are applied on such products by the government. But, the companies need to work with the government to reduce these prices so that there is boost is demand and hence need for supply.

Let me clear you. It's an assembling not manufacturing. There is difference between them. They want to use our cheap labour and diversify the dependency nothing else. The actual profit, eventually, goes to the U.S.A. The reality is that we cannot be superpower until or unless we start manufacturing our own indian smartphones and laptops. To assemble any product will provide many jobs which is certainly good for citizens. But have we any indian smartphone which give competition to samsung, vivo, oneplus and iPhone in the global market? The answer is no yet. Make in India programe will, infact, make sense when company is Indian and manufacturing some or many parts of it. Then, actual profit is coming to our country which ultimately contributes to India's GDP and make India to be superpower.

That happens later. Remember, China started out manufacturing iPhones. Then after the supply chain networks, infrastructure, financing, laws, talent pool, and all that was in place, They naturally developed their own brands like Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Oneplus.

People in the comments are saying that we need the company from India making for world along with the foreign company making in india.... BUT I HAVE A SAY ON IT...
as we saw in China's case that it first brought the globe to itself then they managed to understand technology and expertise... Hence they gradually managed to make their own companies in the sector...
So... Yes, india will have her own smartphone company that speaks of quality/budget/both... But it'll take time, as there is a need to develop a proper environment and people with the required skill to make and lead such company...

India is disintegrated based on language, caste, religion etc. It's very hard India will overcome all this hurdles and innovate something extraordinary. India will always be a hub for foreign nationals to do business and it will be an economic zone. I don't see any changes for next 50 years!

Such as John's govt does this, the John government did that. Why can't you guys just say Indian government did such and such. Why do have to advertise the leader all the time like tv news channels have been doing. I never liked this trait of our journalists.
