Punk, cyber-funk, brave New Wave, Gregorian chant, New Romance, ambient, never sicophant- must be a John Foxx album! Most of us listen to the old stuff with affection because it reminds us of a time when we were nearest to godliness - youthful, fit, exuberant, optimistic, experimental. Mr Leigh is remarkable because his work not only gives us those moments again but he reminds us of the purpose of living - to love, learn and evolve. Compare his current piano centred ambiance to the first track of the first Ultravox album - Satday Night in the City of the Dead - thrash punk at its best and you might be tempted to parallel the passage of man from youthful vigour to grandpa's slippers. This would be an injustice, I have listened to just about all of his work since the mid 70's Monkey Jive and nearly 50 years later I am still buying his albums. Wish I had them all but some cost a King's ransom. I don't like everything he has put out, I doubt he would want me too. It would demonstrate a lack of challenge, a lack of discernment but I like a Hell of a lot of it and admire his creativity and restless energy. John Foxx stands the test of time; past time and present time, because he is progressive and rarely retrospective, restless to make his next sound evolution and to challenge himself foremost - if listeners are dragged along, so be it. So Mr Leigh, thank you for the the teen memories evoked when I was near invincible and thank you for the soundtrack notes that have marked my increased awareness of mortality. Whether I like it or not, I really look forward to hearing what comes next. Many thanks.
🔒🎸🎙🎹 John Foxx & Particularly this Album are great 📻💥🎵
Just rediscovered John Foxx after 40+ years. OMG the memories and nostalgia it evokes. A college journey of discovery

Love this album an 80's classic so Romantic ❤️ I have been listening to John Foxx and Ultravox since late 70's Foxx is so underrated..
Yes John Foxx is very underrated
Haven’t heard this in years. Now years later I can definitely say this sounds like a sequel to Ultravox classic ‘Systems of Romance. Robin Simon’s guitar is rock solid! That guy should’ve been a massive star.
Beautiful opening and amazing closing track
Ascoltarla con le casse stereo: imperdibile ❤❤❤❤❤
What an album. Perfection from start to an end
One of the greatest albums ever recorded.
I must have listened to it a thousand times throughout the years.
Pure brilliance, pure beauty, pure class.
🧡 John Foxx
I just realized that I had a thumbs down which was my mistake you are absolutely right "Vienna" is a Masterpiece... Sorry accidentally pressed thumbs down instead of thumbs up on your comment.
@@jameslaboy9435Vienna was nothing to do with John
@@kevinmulrooney3353 I didn't say John Foxx was involved in Vienna I said that I have been listening to Ultravox since John Foxx was in Ultravox...
@@kevinmulrooney3353actually Mr X is clearly the same as John's "Touch and Go" so there was an influence
Dennis has been the mastermind behind many bands. LONG LIVE JOHNN FOXX.a perfect character for a perfect time.
Underpass is genius, as is JUST FOR A MOMENT. life changing music...................❤❤❤❤
I remember when I first heard Europe after the rain on the car radio in 1981. I was just a kid going crazy with synth pop, but realized there was much more going on that just the music and synths. It was so evocative, elusive and ethereal. I was transfixed.
It's an absolutely incredible and unique song
Gleamings and golds of a brilliant but definitely bygone era
