- While malls across the country are being torn down, replaced or reimagined into something different, the new owners of the mall best known as North County Fair in Escondido believe the time and location are right for a renewal of what made large shopping malls popular in the first place.

I love this! This is "my mall", and it's been looking sad lately. This was the cool place to go to as a teen. I'm glad someone has decided to improve it!
I have not been to this mall for about 15 years.. Malls way too expensive to shop. Went for entertainment from the 70-90's. Never went back. Lots of potential for malls. Entertainment, companies, condo etc. Do not get rid of make new opportunities.
Even if a mall is "busy", it isn't like the old days. Back then, most people you saw had bags full of purchases they made. Now most people I see are empty handed or are just there to eat and drink.
It’s been a year and not much changed. Carlsbad mall had about 1/2 remodeled and that half is booming. The other half is dead.
its still heaps better then Carlsbad mall IMO. Esco Mall has great bones whereas Cbad doesnt even have a foodcourt
You’re nuts. 1/2 of carlsbad mall has been remodeled. And that 1/2 is booming. The other 1/2 needs to be remodeled now.
Y’all can complain abt how “ghetto” Westfield Plaza Bonita is but they still eating it up with a new shake shack and a bowling alley coming soon 😌
Was there a couple saturdays ago and it was packed and had a band going on the bottom level
Yeah that's one day out of a year .the other 364?
yeah i was there also weekends its packed happy to see
The food places and Target are packed, but everywhere else seems ho hum
Steerpoint please . consider adding an Ikea this area does not have one, Nebraska Furniture Mart (amazing store). Both would be a destination. Much prefer then Costco. Bring in the excellent Versaiilles Cuban restaurant or Cracker Barrell. You got two spots waiting. Bring in Kirklands, Maurices, maybe an aquarium/fish store. The mall is still vital was just there today. Great to be inside on a warm day. Hold juried art shows. So much can be done.
Make it a indoor pulga with small business and watch it thrive
Face it....the mall as we know it is a outdated concept. Unless you have a niche like South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa (upscale, heavy Asian market) you're fighting against on-line commerce.
South Coast is so overwhelming though; its maddeningly anxiety producing but yes it brings in the heavy buyers
Plaza Las Americas is also thriving. It has been expanded a couple times within the last 10 years and the parking lot is crowded most of the time.
Yes, it can become overwhelming at times
@@engineer_alv Where is that? Never heard of it?
@@kendallevans4079 San Ysidro, I believe it is Exit 1 on I-5 (Camino de la Plaza)
