My opinion on the QoL features is that they should just add all of them and make them optional. Even if the game is balanced for no floor skips, no redos, no nothing, it's still likely to beat up on newcomers to old school dungeon crawlers with all assists on.
@@SnakebitSTI That's what makes it great. It's hard in the beginning but it levels as you gain more levels and unlocking moves. @@millasgameroom Floor Jumping was an experiment they tried in the Untold games (where it was broken to hell and back) and finally more-or-less got right by the time 5 and Nexus rolled around. I will say for untold, the story mode is the reason to play, classic to my knowledge has the massive problem of being story mode but without anything that was added for it... but with any changes to old stuff for balanceing story mode the same, especially bad in 2 sense bosses had more HP so the protagonist class wouldn't tear them to peaces, and they still have that extra HP in classic were you don't get that class, still great for story mode, but if you want classic I'd recommend HD for the bugs it did fix from the OG
So... not gonna say much other than I started thinking about the EO trilogy again today... and by trilogy I obviously am referring to the DS-only games, not the 3DS EO4/5/Nexus (in order, I'm like a dungeon from Imperial I think, beaten the base game, haven't touched and refuse to until I beat the other numbered games.) Additionally, I love that you said "an Untold of 3 has a lot of potential" because I went and beat the Switch version of EO1, was gonna do it for EO2 but the minutiae of having to play it and like, do that screenswapping... I think I can only endure that for 3, which is, like Nexus, the game that I won't touch until I beat the games prior. If you're wondering why, it's fairly simple: I want to see what Atlus changed over the years. So, over a year later, thank you for your opinion! It's helped a lot! PS- reason I thought about them was another unnamed Atlus game pulled an EO1. I think it's EO1's last stratum for the story... if you know, you know, but yeah, wanted to leave the reason I started actively looking back toward beating each EO number and Nexus at the very end so some people could connect a few dots as to what I'm referring to. Anyway, if you read this, thank you, and have a wonderful year!
I would have been happy with the collection if Untold 1 and 2 where in the mix. To me they are just better than vanilla unless someone is very nostalgia driven and blinded
Never played these games Milla but am familiar with them to some degree. Thanks for this wonderful overview. Delighted the video has done well for you. Your channel is excellent. Keep up the great work.
Since you mentioned a survey, there was actually a survey invitation+access code on the inside of the Asian Switch remaster case (the 'enquete' URL), though it looks like it closed in September.
There's actually something I must mention about emulating the originals... The graphics and mapping DO NOT translate well. You might think that the using a mouse with an emulated version is the same as with the PC version of the HD remake, but it's not. The HD version is much smoother to work with and the larger screen makes it easier to use your mouse. And that is on top of the fact your mouse doubles as control in all other menus too. So yes, you can emulate them, but that was exactly why I was worried whether the PC port would actually work well.
I own 2U, but I opted out of getting 1U since I hear it makes some questionable changes to the story with its story mode, notably putting end-game plot points in the original early into the game for some reason, so hopefully it's better to play the HD remaster over Untold, especially since I need it to play 3 anyway (I mean, I *could* emulate the original, but the QoL stuff is probably a good thing to have), cause I imagine hunting down an affordable copy of 1U would be hell. Lol.
I didn't like Untold 1 at all, and skipped Untold 2 because I didn't like vanilla 2, but seeing the changes in Untold 2, I might have actually liked that. So frankly I'd say the PC version of these remasters is the definitive version for 1 and 3. Untold 1's gameplay changes are too vast and mostly make the game worse, with no way to turn them off, so that ruins the fun of the original. And the remaster of 3 is the same game, but prettier and with a lot of accessibility features. The remaster of 2 definitely feels like an improvement over the original, but it doesn't change what I dislike about the game (nor should it, if it's going to be faithful to the original like the others are) so I wouldn't say "don't bother with 2," especially when you can get the whole trilogy for the same price as buying 1 and 3. But all told, this remaster collection is the best way to jump in if you get it on PC. I play them using a controller for all the movement stuff, and my mouse to do the mapping, and I genuinely prefer it to the mapping on the DS originals.
i got intrigue when i saw the HD remaster is coming to steam so I watched some youtube vids on what is the gameplay the gameplay reminds me of Class of Heroes which made me want to buy the all of the HD remaster games of Etrian Odyssey
Untold 1/2 are basically different games and can't really replace 1-2. If you like messy stories, I guess you can play them. Also, the new grimoire system totally sucks so classic mode is kinda ruined. I don't see the appeal of Untold at all.

Never played these games Milla but am familiar with them to some degree.
Thanks for this wonderful overview. Delighted the video has done well for you. Your channel is excellent. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much Shinra! 😊
以前從來沒接觸過DRPG 這次重制版讓我對遊戲的認知又刷新了 古老的機制現代的優化 最純粹的冒險遊戲體驗 期待後續的重制版
My problem with emulation is in games like 3, the graphics take a sharp downgrade that looks quite awful!
@@ralphbeez1411 oh, yeah... Especially the first dungeon starts to look like a wild mish-mash of colours...
Very helpful video!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
I play them using a controller for all the movement stuff, and my mouse to do the mapping, and I genuinely prefer it to the mapping on the DS originals.
i got intrigue when i saw the HD remaster is coming to steam so I watched some youtube vids on what is the gameplay
the gameplay reminds me of Class of Heroes which made me want to buy the all of the HD remaster games of Etrian Odyssey
I'm gonna play... all of them >:3
I hope they remaster 4 too, eventually
Exactly the video I needed!
Untold 1/2 are basically different games and can't really replace 1-2. If you like messy stories, I guess you can play them. Also, the new grimoire system totally sucks so classic mode is kinda ruined. I don't see the appeal of Untold at all.
English VO only is a positive. Nexus needs English VO.
Only? I much prefer subbed content. Nothing wrong with preferring that.
Play 3, leave 1 & 2 to the masochists. There's 0 reason to go back to those unless you're a massive fan.
???
Etrian Odyssey 1 and 2 are perfectly fine games.
@@JohnGaming55 I wouldn't recommend them over any of the other entries in the series. As I said, you must be a fan.
I finished EO1 in less than 50 hours and I just struggled on the first two floors, thats the normal and the other games were normal as hell
@@AbelMusaAnyone can play at any point in the series. If anything, Now with the HD release, It's okay to start at the first game as they hold up pretty well. And if some struggles, there are plenty of guides to help.
@@AbelMusaEtrian Odyssey 1 and 2 were my fourth and fifth games in the series.
These games belong in the TRASH.
