Thank you again! I am designing my own hooded scarf because I decided I wanted a hooded scarf when I was almost finished with my scarf. So you taught me how to pick up stitches so I can add my hood to my scarf, now this bind off will be perfect for the edge of my hood. I am loving it and I am not even done yet, cannot wait to finish it.
Thank you for the clear and easy to follow tutorial. I also appreciate that you showed how to end it as not many videos here on youtube showing this technique actually show you what to do at the end of the row.
It is nearly one in the morning Judy, and I'm still doing this fascinating cast off. It looks very neat and I really like the way you share your know-how with us dummies. Thank you and God bless you for sacrificing your time for us!
THANK YOU!!! I found your video after reading the pattern instructions. The pattern made this sound a WHOLE lot complicated and it really isn't! You video was clear and concise. Exactly what I needed and since I'm doing the edging on a large jacket, I'm glad I know now!! Thank you again!
I was going crazy trying understand a pattern that had finished with i-cord and its video was my salvation! lol Thanks for sharing!! Kisses from Brazil :)
oh thank you, you are so kind! I learned to knit 8 years ago, although I've crocheted off and on for years. I try to do a little every day, it makes me happy to learn new things and stretch in my projects.
Very well done and Thank You for taking the time to do these tutorials. I have found them to be very helpful, even though I have been knitting for years, I have never seen this technique before. I will definitely try this.
Thank you for another excellent video. clear, concise and uncomplicated! My question: I'm knitting a baby sweater that calls for a ribbed highish neckband which I don't really like. Could I just pick up the required ammount of stiches+3 and do the I cord bind off?
You are a great knitting teacher!! I am making the Shore Hat in the Weekend Hats book. The hat is finished with attached Icord and wire!! Thanks I needed your help :)
Thank you for such a clear demonstration. I was trying to figure out how to do this from written instructions and it was impossible. Now I completely understand.
You are a life saver. I was about to pull my hair out trying to understand a pattern that required an I-cord bind off along the edge of a scarf. Kudos!!! In my book, YOU ARE TOOOOO HOT TO TROT!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I'm still doing it because I love to frog (lol) but it's working. I was sweating the small stuff. I have learned that at any angle turn I must knit one row without attaching so it goes around the edge nicely. It's beautiful and I'm pleased. I'll try to post on your site. : ) Thanks for all your instruction!
I've been knitting for years but have never seen this bindoff. Just did a sample square and used this bindoff to see if I could do it. I used fingering yarn with sz 2 needle.... can I use this bindoff on the neckline of a baby christening gown? THANK YOU so very much for taking the time to share this beautiful bindoff. : )
I'm sorry I just saw this comment. How did your project come out? I assume you figured out what to do. A reversible garment sounds awesome. Happy knitting.
Just wondering, what stitch is that on the red part of your work? It looks nice, but I haven't seen it (I'm still a bit of an amateur when it comes to knitting lol)
I just winged it. Had to rip back once, to get the right number of stitches and did a few decreases scattered around the neckline as I did the ICord bindoff. That prevented any puckering. The project and notes are on my Ravelry page. I'm catmum.
Hi Judy! All the videos I've seen regarding I-cord show from the top or bottom of the piece. I'm working on a garment pattern that is 6 rows of knit and 6 rows of purl. The garment has minimal top and bottom but lots and lots of 6k 6p row edge. I switched to a smaller needle but I'm not sure what I'm looking at on the edge of the purl rows. Sometimes the picked up stitches look wrong and they are tight. Any ideas? If I get this right the garment will be reversible. Liked you on Facebook :)
Would that be stretchy enough for a baby's head? If the sweater doesn't open the whole shoulder (as many baby patterns do), then it might not fit over his head, that would be disappointing. (I'm new to i-cords, but they don't look stretchy at all.
I'm finishing the neckline of a sweater that finishes with 7 rows of 1x1 ribbing. I am thinking about doing an ICord bind off using a contrasting color, but I have not found any videos or information about ICord bind off on ribbing. Any suggestions?
@MimiGoby68 sorry I'm so late in getting back to you. I assume you figured it out. If not, just follow my instructions binding off as I did on my video. happy knitting!
For someone just trying to figure it out I found the starting off part really fast. I had to back it up about 10 times to even see what it was you were doing. Just FYI.
I was going crazy trying understand a pattern that had finished with i-cord and its video was my salvation! lol Thanks for sharing!! Kisses from Brazil :)
This is definitely the most well-made, clearest demonstration of the technique. Well-done, Judy. Thanks for taking the time to teach us all.
Great help and made the edge of my shawl look beautiful. Thanks so much for taking the time to help others!
